We all have a Facebook or know someone that does. I found this pic and thought that I would do a repost and see what everyone says about it. Your thoughts?

Sometimes I think Jesus is vastly misunderstood, and very much so by many of his followers. I say this because, although I know many good Christians who make a very good example on his behalf, I know far too many more that are all about dressing in fancy clothes, condemning the world, hating their neighbors, and abusing their families. It hurts sometimes to see it.

I get what the person is saying but these types of issues are not just American issues. Jesus followed the word and lived his life as an example of how everyone should be treated.

While I agree with this, the stark reality is this: We are human. the possibility of this happening doesnt exist. As much as it saddens me to say it, that's the truth. I know I myself will never be able to live up to Jesus' example. That's exactly what Jesus did. He not only came and died for our sins. A death that by all rights was ours to face but He gave us guidelines on how to be good people, and good neighbors. It however saddens me when people look at those who are bad examples of a religion, then base their opinion on everyone of that religion based on those people. It's not just Christianity that this happens. Look at the Taliban. They call themselves Muslims, yet they have tainted the true meaning of Islam. Islam is meant to be a religion of meditation and peace. True Islam strives for peace, but the Taliban have distorted it, and used it to gain power and take advantage of the zealous. The same could be said about various different Churches throughout history. With this in mind, it's important to keep in mind the teachings of Jesus. Knowing these, you can identify those who truly are after the heart of the Lord. We are all imperfect. Thats our condition as humans. Striving to live as Jesus lived is the ultimate goal for a Christian who is going against the mainstream, if you will. Saying "IM A CHRISTIAN" but then not following a single thing Jesus taught.
