So. I got declared dead last summer, in a rather humorous way. I had some strange recurring illness that they thought was mono, but tests said it wasn't...but it had me in and out of various clinics several times. Before this, I hadn't been to a doctor for quite some time; I have an irrational fear.
In any case...they could NOT get my blood pressure. The first time was odd. The lady tried three times, then gave up and just asked what it normally is. The next visit, I had a new assistant, and she tried twice, brought in another machine, and tried again. She declared me dead, laughing. I got curious...I used my mum's home blood pressure machine, then the treadmill's, then two grocery store's. Never could get a reading.
I also run fevers quite often, and can induce myself into one at will.
Has anyone heard of this, or know what might be causing it? After the first few times, I kinda figured it wasn't just a single machine's malfunctioning.

* Has anything like this happened to you?
* Is your body somehow abnormal?
* Is this a giant conspiracy to just freak me out?

I may think it is just electric interference that you could inadvertantly be giving off.
Considering that all different kind of machines couldn't get it... try having someone try getting a pulse or something.

Blood pressure is taken by doctors using the pump, no electricity needed, the same as if they do it by hand. The only way electricy could be involved is the treadmill.

Well, the Treadmill, my mum's machine, and the grocery store's ones rely on digital display panels, but still...
Great. What could it be if it's not electrical?

Your Anaesthetic gamemaniac I may think it is just electric interference that you could inadvertantly be giving off. Considering that all different kind of machines couldn't get it... try having someone try getting a pulse or something. Um no. Not to be mean, but you are wrong. They have electric ones in some hospitals and so forth they use to check readings for sometimes the doctors are off and so forth. *****ALSO***** It is not abnormal for pyschics to have high or low blood pressure. I have high, and I can make my self have head aches instead of fevers. I believe it has to do with the pyschic ability. I should be dead at how high mine was, 180/110(taken at a physical at school). We went to the doctor and it was still high, but the doc didn't do anything though. I think it was because my mom and her don't get along, and she is just a bad doctor too. It has gone down but is still high.

This makes sense, that maybe my body's just different...I do have rather low blood pressure, maybe it was just a dip. But still...shouldn't it have picked it up?

So it could just be that you run an interference through the digital read out?
I work in a hospital - and some of them are electric. For example - in the ER [most prominently though they are located elsewhere in a hospital]. They constantly monitor your breathing rhythym, heartrate, oxygen level, and blood pressure. They are all automatic and the blood pressure one runs on a timer.
However, there are always people present at the hospital that can read and perform tests. Whether they be doctors or nurses, someone is ALWAYS present to read and perform tests. ALWAYS. Even at 2am you can find a nurse or a doctor there.

Yes, but the ones in the doctor's offices that wouldn't read weren't electrical at all. Hee hee...my body temperature is like yours! Only it's usually 97.4-97.6, not as big of a range. That does not run in my family...but high blood pressure does, which just makes this even more ironic to me.

Well, I can induce my own fever, and my body temperature is way low. Sometime my hands will go all weird and my fingernails will turn dark purple. I also go really cold when this happens and start shaking, and not just normal cold, like ice cold. Plus, I can't remember a lot of things that I need to remember, but many things of little importance I remember easily.

Wings of Aegis - If they had anything that would have a read out [even thier little gauges] your abilities could have interfered with the reading. Even if it's not electrical. xp

I have a low body temperature too, as well as a very hard to find pulse. I've stumped doctors, nurses, and my health teacher.

xd I've jumped from unusually high blood pressure, to so low I was sent home a few times. No one has made the call that I was dead, though. My body, save for my forehead, is ice cold, my forehead is burning up, and my temperature reads out, always, 98.6. It's really a pain, because with school and home, I need a readout of over 101 if I'm not vomitting or seriously unable to walk.
[opinion]I think inducing headaches can go towards sheer force of will, though. A lot of people can actually manage that if they try. This is, like, one of those basic 'mind over body' issues that's mentioned. Kids have made themselves sick by convincing their bodies that they were in the first place. Inducing physical, or a lack of physical ailment is sometimes extremely simple to some, while just needing some work to others. Almost a very basic mental exercise, if you know what you're doing. [/opinion]
