The past week had been relatively quiet in Deus as defenses were doubled, if not tripled, and the island slowly working into a better state of repair. Many Hunters had left off station, most likely to deal with the return of the horsemen problem, while others worked themselves tired simply fixing and maintaining the main Deus Ex facility.
The Sunday rolled over in almost a quiet lull, a lazy morning oddly void of even Hunters in the training field.
A few moments later, all trainees would receive a text:At $500 up front, this was probably some hard core testing, but considering that the on-Island price for everything had skyrocketed thanks to the limited usage of portals, any money was necessary money, short of a straight-up barter system that lead most Hunters missing their socks, underpants, some of their better Runic weapons, and a small supply of minipets. OOC - All Hunters are free to arrive in the LIFE LABS (the room mentionedin the text) to see what is going on with this weapons inspection/ trials - If you are a trainee this is OPTIONAL - If you are a full Hunter this is "mandatory"

$500 could buy a lot of things. Nice clean new sheets, things to make his new psudo-apartment in the Hunter section of the dorms more homey, a fancy keyboard with built in drum machine...
Suffice to say, mandatory for him or not, Jerry was there.

Money was a non-issue for Sasha.
Getting out of bed - being busy?
A siren's call.
She was still feeling slightly weak and mildly annoyed at just about everything, but Sasha was so tired of sitting around accomplishing nothing.
Suffice it to say she followed Jerry in and situated herself next to him before idly fussing with her scarf.

Melvin had been fixing up Deus Ex and sparring for the better part of his time back since the mission. It was work, but it wasn't work that paid, and while he tended to like cleaning, a break was very welcomed. It was a added bonus that it was in the life labs, and he was very interested in any testing preformed in the labs, somewhere he wanted to spend as much time as possible.
It took him a bit of moving about before he found the designated room, and even though this testing was optional for him, he felt that not only did it pay well, but it did show he was committed to his new career as a Hunter. No one could say he was a slacker, and as far as he heard, it would keep him out of a pod by being seen and busy. There was no downside he could see to this testing.
With that, Melvin entered the lab and found himself a nice, clean seat.

Standardised weapons tests. It sounded almost sinister at first, and if it wasn't for the money, Rep might well have decided against volunteering for a mission that was optional on Deus, he even put his phone away to think about it.
But $500 dollars was like a couple hundred pounds.
You could buy a lot of ******** sugar with that much money. And booze.
It didn't take long for him to divert from his usual training with Tracey and head over to the lecture lab.
What was the worst that could happen?

Normally Candace would have run far, far away from a text like this. She would conveniently be in her pod. She never received the text, obviously. Obviously. She'd heard the last time there was a task that involved extra payment everyone had smelled like s**t afterward. She was so glad she'd missed it.
But $500...that was a nice pair of shoes. Or even money toward her room renovations. It was pretty nice..
Fiiiiine. She'd go. Candace yawned and made a long detour to the cafeteria first despite already being in the labs to begin with, eventually arriving to the room they had been told to go to with a warm cup of coffee in hand. She yawned, standing as far from the nearest wall as she could. Nope. No walls. It would tempt Candace to lean against it and then she'd find herself sitting and then she'd find herself napping. She could do that later. Yup.
A strong cup of coffee would do the trick. She was peering over her cup to see who was around, giving Jerry and Sasha a wave and pausing when she spotted a trainee she didn't recognize. Rep was given a vague wave in greeting, Candace's attention was on the new guy. "Hey there," She greeted Melvin politely, sipping more of her coffee.

Roland was a naive noob, the sign of 500 dollars didn't strike warnings in his mind, all it did was paint a picture of warm meals, maybe a fixed ipod.
So he shuffled into the labs like every other good hunter, waving to Melvin and Rep as he entered. "Sooo... weapon testing? Is this a um normal thing?"

Walking felt weird after being in bed so long, sleeping so long. What better way to get back into the swing of things than to volunteer himself for random testing? He must really love to test.
Otto walked in. Slowly, tiredly, dragging his feet behind him.

500 dollars. She could buy a LOT of things with 500 dollars. Ceres was usually not a girl for clothing shopping, but she really did need to go buy some new stuff now and then.
She was not certain about this weapon testing business, but Takeru did not seem to be totally against it, and they would be testing on him so... what the heck?
Ceres was sporting her new coat now, glad that whatever Deus people whom made the coats noticed that she NEVER used the damn sleeves anyways. They seemed instead comfortable on giving her a set of matching white gloves, she could deal with that.
(( i have permission from Zoo to RP Ceres as a Intermediate in this RP because this happens a IC Week later anyways XD ))

"You sure you're up for this?" Jerry smiled weakly at Sasha as she shuffled in behind him, catching sight of Candace's wave before waving back. He frowned at the sight of Melvin, his face flushing as his attention returned to Sasha. The last thing he needed was the stupid trainee babbling about 'drug addicts'. The kid was an idiot. Immediately, the man felt bad for thinking as such, biting his lip. Concentrate on Sasha. His best bet. Gently, he tucked a bit of her hair behind her ear.

Sasha remained still as Jerry tucked back a bit of hair; her thoughts were obviously elsewhere. "I'm fine. Really, you can stop asking, Jerry." Her voice was low, and it was highly unlikely that anyone else could hear her mildly annoyed tone. She tacked on as a polite afterthought, "Please."

"Ceres!" The trainee perked up quiet happily at the sight of the girl, even the new jacket caught his eye. Moving over he grinned ear to ear. "Hey you got a new coat! And you're out of the labs!"
He paused frowning, "This is legit right? 500 bucks for some test? I need to get more clothes, and a warm meal again.."

The text made Wilson suspicious. Anything with monetary rewards made him suspicious. Missions made him suspicious. Pretty much 99% of the texts he received made him suspicious. Something was going to go on during the testing that was going to make the hunter regret ever coming down to the life labs, but he popped his head into the lecture room anyways. Five hundred dollars really was too tempting of an offer.
He was definitely going to regret this somehow.
There were a few familiar faces already in the room and he briefly nodded to a few. Wilson looked at Roland and tried to recognize the face, but couldn't. Was this guy new? "Define normal."
Then he slowly stepped next to Otto and curiously examined the younger hunter. “Feeling okay?”

Not mandatory for trainees. Meaning joy of joys, Marcus was going to have to this, whatever it was. Five hundred bucks of not, 'testing' made him think that life would have something to do with it. Meaning, Marcus was playing guinea pig. something he actively tried to avoid. Rubbing his temple as he made his way to the lecture room, Marcus forced a small smile as he thought about what five hundred dollars could mean come a month or two. The nest egg he had was still unused. His house was.. coming along. Provided they got rid of that damn dragon soon. Home or not, he wasn't so moronic to try and live with a towering dragon roaming around. Dragons made s**t for neighbors. Looking at Jerry and Candace he shrugged, finding a spot by the back wall. "Hey," he gave a small hand wave in greeting, "either you guys heard about this before? Sure didn't come up from any of the guys when we were working to fix this place." He might have wished they had warned him. "The mandatory part with pay just seems.. fishy. I know we can take extra missions for extra pay, but this seems like..well." He looked down the hall. He didn't see any hunter leads. Yet.

There were plenty of hunters he met once, and a few he never met before, and he glanced at their coats, trying to place them in groups, not to mention if he could somehow figure out ranking. It was rather hard as he really didn't notice a sense of decoration from one or the next as many were unique to each person.
The girl who spoke to him was tidy, neat, and very well maintained. Considering all the people he met who were wearing bloodstained clothes, didn't seem to wash their hair, shave, or shower, it was refreshing to see someone around here who took care of themselves.
He smiled back. "Hello."
