It was night now. The usual hot air the blew around had cooled and become a confortable temperture. It was especially confortable to Sahar. Her fur was black, it absorbed the sun restlessly. That's why the little jackal quite enjoyed the nighttime. It gave her a chance to run around and play without much worry. Of course she always had to look out for lions and the alike, but Sahar was fairly good at avoiding them. On this perticular night, Sahar was more careless than usual. She had been ever-so-bored during the day that she wanted to make up for it during the night. After all, what good was it to travel about if she had no fun? Even teasing a snake would be entertaining. Her ear twitched as she heard something move to her right. She crouched to the ground and pounced in it's direction, however she obviously missed whatever she was attempting to catch. She sighed, at this rate her night would be just as boring as her morning had been...

He hated the night time! When would he learn that it wasn't his best time for hunting? Apparently now now, he thought as the bird he had been stalking caught sight of him before he could make an attempt to pounce. During the day he didn't have as much trouble; though when night fell his orange coat made him stand out. He sighed and continued on walking. Thankfully he had a good meal before the sun had set and had only been looking for a small snack. Either way it was still frustrating losing prey. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the grass ruffle slightly as if there was something there. Cautiously, he made his way over to investigate what was hiding in the grass.

Sahar's ears perked up as she heard movement nearby. She lifted her head slightly to see what it was. The only thing she saw however was the large orange legs of a lion. At that her eyes widened and she started crawling away. Although, she was crawling quite fast making her very noticable. Oh, how didn't she notice him before? While she blended in at night, this lion stood out greatly; and yet she didn't see him?! She continued to crawl at her unsually fast pace, just about anyone could pinpoint her location with all the sounds she was making. So much for not being seen...

Neirin stopped when he heard the grass start to rustle more. Whatever it was must have gotten spooked. He wondered if it had seen him or what else was hiding that caused it to get scared. He watched as it tried to hurry away. "Hey!" he bent down and looked through what he could of the grass; he didn't see anything that could have scared whatever was crawling around but he did spot a tiny, black and red ball of fur. "It's alright, there's no need to be scared."

Sahar stopped frantactly trying to escape the lion and turned so she could see how far away she was. A fair distance. However, if she tried to keep crawling away he might just try and catch her. And that was something Sahar was strongly against. She didn't want to stop moving altogether though, then he would find her. She started crawling again, slower this time. She was cautious to as where she stepped. The last thing she wanted was to alert this lion in the direction she was in or how far away she was. Unfortunally her plan was faulty and she stepped on a twig that snapped.

Instead of stopping, the little ball of fur continued running. Neirin did his best, with the help from the moonlight, to follow whatever it was. He slowly walked in the direction it was going and heard the twig snap. He bent down once again and looked around for the small fur ball. "Hey, it's alright! I'm not going to hurt you!" he called, hoping the words would sooth it a little bit. At least long enough for him to find out what it was.

Running wasn't working. And Sahar was being awfully clumsy. When the lion called out she was hesitate to run. He sounded like he was close to her now. Even if she started bolting away, now he was bound to catch her. So she raised her head a little to check the distance between each other. It turned out Sahar was right, he was close. But he was... Facing the wrong way. He wasn't looking in her direction. With this in mind Sahar stood up and started to slowly walk away. Just until she could get a safer distance away from him... Unfortunally Sahar was too busy watching the lion to watch where she was stepping, and ended up stepping on another twig.

Neirin looked around but didn't spot any movement where he was standing. He was certain that whatever was hiding out here had been near him. He looked around again for any signs of movement. He had to be close to it; he had to be! He listened quietly for any rustling of the grass or any other noise that would give away the animal's hiding spot. When he heard the sound of another twig snap in half, he turned in the direction the noise had come from. "Come on out, whatever you are! I won't hurt you!"

Sahar stood in the same position for a long time. She hadn't moved, mearly stood there pondering over revealing herself. This lion didn't seem SO bad. After all he had shouted and shouted that he wouldn't do any harm to the jackal. Eventually she made up her mind and stood up in the grass. She had to fight to not smile; this lion really did stand out in the middle of the night.

The orange lion kept his nose low, hoping he could find whatever was lurking out here by scent. He followed the scent until it stopped. He held out his paw with his claws retracted so he wouldn't hurt whatever it was and ran it over the spot where the scent was the strongest. "Come on out, little one, it's okay." he called out softly this time, hoping the more soothing tone would help coax it out of hiding.

Sahar crept foward towards the lion. She was slow at first, as she was arguing with herself if she should turn around and run or not. Eventually she jogged over to where he was and stood a few feet away from him. Man he was big. If he pounced on her she'd be as flat as a pancake. The little black jackal's ears flattened as she started to walk backwards. It certainlly wasn't a lucky day for Sahar, she stepped on small pointed rock that made her yelp.

Neirin was still sniffing around, hoping to pick up the scent of whatever was near him in the grass. When he heard the yelp, he turned in his spot and continued his search. "Where are you? Are you alright?" Thankfully he didn't smell blood, but that didn't mean the creature wasn't hurt. "Are you hurt?"

Sahar lifted her foot and placed it back on the ground firmly. She lifted her foot again and repeated the action. It hurt a little, but it was mostly fine. Besides it wasn't bleeding, it couldn't be too serious. Still, the orange lion was concerned. He didn't seem bad at all, Sahar was getting worked up over nothing? "I'm fine..." She whispered as she crawled closer to Nerin.

The orange male laid down in the grass towards the direction where he heard a faint voice come from. "I'm sorry, I didn't hear you." He looked around and sniffed again. "Can you come out so I can make sure you're alright?" He would feel bad if he left and whatever tiny creature was out here was lying in the grass unable to get back home because it had gotten hurt. The last thing he wanted to do was leave an injured animal out here as an easy snack.

She was cautious as she rose from her hiding place and stepped closer to the lion. After all, the little jackal had grown up thinking that lions and cheetahs were terrifing; beings that must be avoided at all costs. "I said am fine. It doesn't hurt much!" Or at least at the moment it didn't.
