It was quiet this particular Spookday, as weekends usually were in the school campus itself, save for a single bonfire outside. Literally, a bonfire, crackling a warm yellow, as various senior DETH scouts gathered together to chat, socialize, and share their Human experiences. A senior DETH scouts meeting. They were currently just getting started on the human songs, going through the lyrics of a song related to some sort of strange Human singing category called Rocky Road.

"You coming for the chorus, professor?" A small tubby imp proudly holding a stick of Human world marshmallows - or really just imitations of it, created by snowman poop - waved over to the campfire.

< A bit later, perhaps. > The professor promised, the shadow of his form cast by the fire ten times taller than the actual minipet-like visage. < I'm waiting for some students, hopefully new faces that will join our cause . >

The imp beamed. "Shall I get the Welcoming Trumpet ready?"

< Not yet. I believe they are interested in going to the Human World. We shall make a quick trip to also explore a couple of old friends while there, it will be good for the students to learn more about DETH in different environments. >

"Yeah yeah." Said demon scratched his head, looking a little disgruntled about not being able to use the Welcoming Trumpet quite yet. "Have fun with the kids."

The professor said nothing and simply waited a little away at the bench, where he had told the students to gather together for the field trip.

- If you were quoted, your student have already been contacted in your request for a small DETH-based field trip experience, to learn more about what DETH is! You can simply arrive at the rped location above, the professor (Professor QB, who looks exactly like a contract minipet) is waiting for you! o w o

Mot wasted little time after being contacted. He'd been itching to learn more about DETH, despite some of the strange and embarrassing things the handbook had listed. Promise of another trip to the human world would prove helpful, he felt, in understanding better the world of Humans.

The cowboil Grim lightly jogged his way to the meeting spot, his hat slung around his neck and his hair pulled up high into a ponytail.

The strange professor was there, as was a strange gathering of others near a bonfire. "Uh.. Good evening, Professor." Mot greeted politely, scratching his neck. He hoped this experience would be a little less painful than the last. Hugging humans was just scary.

Junko was slightly hesitant to go to the human world, but her last trip there hadn't been so bad...and any trip she'd gone on with DETH had been okay. She smiled fondly at the memory of her first very successful attempt at scaring a human. It'd felt so good. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. And Lizzy was very interested in them as well! Maybe she could learn a little bit more. It wouldn't be so bad, right? They would benefit from knowing more about humans. Their world could end if they didn't scare humans, right? They needed their fear...not to fear them just because they could be hunters in disguise.

And so a curious Junko arrived at the bonfire, though she was slightly hurried and rushed for fear that dealing with her hair might have made her late. Apparently not. Good, good. She slowed to a stop as she approached the group, eyes wide. This wouldn't be so bad. Not every trip to the human world had to end in disaster. It'd be okay.

"Good evening, Professor QB. Thank you for inviting me to um..this." Junko bent down to give the minipe--er...professor a respectful bow, lifting her head a bit to look around at everyone else gathered. So many scouts..

Wait! Mot?! Junko straightened quickly, blinking and giving the cowboil a surprised wave. "Ah...hi, Mot! You too, huh?"

Lizzy knew that if it was DETH, it should be fine. Her previous experiences with the organization had been pleasant, especially when compared to what the school had put them through since her enrollment... However, she was surprised to see two very familiar faces already gathered at the bench where they were told to meet. Although the urge to greet them first was strong, she stopped in front of the professor, dipping her head.

"Evening, Professor QB!" She smiled, before turning to face Mot and Junko, grabbing them both and pulling them into a hug, her voice lowering, "Hiii. It's good to see you both!" She was starting to be a little nervous, but having them around helped with that!

It felt like an understatement to call Thackery's thoughts after their assault on the island 'troubling'. Handling Ash's safety was its own set of problems, but with each attack on the humans, he felt a new set of troubles arise. He felt himself losing familiarity with the students he'd grown with.

His third year at Amity meant some important decisions, but there was still some thinking to be done beforehand. The invitation came as a bit of a relief, a break from all of the consideration; maybe it would even decide things for him. That was how these kinds of trips worked, right?

He greeted the others with a smile - some familiar, others not so much - and wondered what sort of importance this trip had to the rest of them. Watching that hunter die, really die, had shoved things quickly into perspective for him. The loss in their eyes was so terrifyingly familiar. They weren't so different. They loved. They hurt. They fought for what they cared about.

It was just their species that kept them apart.

"Thanks for the opportunity," he finally piped up, eyeing the students around the bonfire. "Are we...here to sing?"
PostPosted: Wed Aug 22, 2012 12:59 pm

> The minip- err, professor agreed. < There is more than enough time for singing when we return, for now, I have a special surprise for you students, a small visit to a DETH work site in the Human World. One of you students is very familiar with how this works, but I believe this is a great experience for everyone! >

There was a loud honk from behind the students, followed by a squeak and an odd squelch. Professor QB turned his head, just slightly towards the source, ears twitching just slightly.

"Oh, er, sorry," A small DETH member, a fire imp, put away his Welcoming Trumpet, "I'll welcome you again when you get back. Have fun students, remember to hug your fellow Human!"

The professor waited until they had moved back to the campfire. < Unfortunately this Human World visit will not involve any hugging this time, but you will be here to personally observe how we as DETH function and work in the Human World. We will be visiting two of my colleagues today and they will let you shadow a regular working day for DETH. Are there any other questions or concerns? >

"Oh, Hello Junko." Mot said, surprised to see her. "Yes, I find DETH to be rather interesting. Any opportunity to shed light on the human world I will take with an open mind."

Lizzy was soon there too. He smiled and nodded his head to her.

Thackey he was not terribly familiar with, but he too received a smile and wave.

Mot yelped, the sound caused by the fire imp having startled him. Her couched into his hand and pretended that didn't happen.

Mot almost sighed, thinking this would be just another Human Hugging campaign, but perked up upon hearing no hugging would be involved. Shadowing a DETH member on a regular day? Excellent! Mot would be able to learn so much! A grin formed on his face.

Mot shook his head, smiling ear to ear. No questions on his end. He'd learn what was what soon enough.

Lizzy! Junko turned to her with a huge grin and immediately hugged the ghoul, hanging off her friend with a happy little noise. Lizzy, Lizzy, Lizzy~. Ohh! And Thackery! What an interesting group. Lizzy was expected, but Mot and Thackery? She had no idea! "Hi!" She greeted the Cerberus cheerfully while still hanging off her best friend. "Sing? Um, I don't know."

Thankfully it was then that Professor QB began introductions. A work site? They had those? Huh..that sounded neat, she supposed. The ghoul jumped, startled by the sudden trumpeting. Wh-what? Oh. Overenthusiastic colleague. Okay.

Heh.

"These colleagues..are they human, Professor?" A concern? Hard to tell. But he'd asked for questions! Maybe it would be a concern if this human seemed too hunter-like. Or something.

"Uh, I'm as confident about singing as I am of cooking, so..." Lizzy gave Thackery a sheepish look, before offering him a genuine smile; she hadn't seen the boil since that Seeds meeting... Which seemed like such a long, long time ago.

"It's great to be back, professor!" She replied with an eager nod. After a moment's pause, she opened her mouth, about to ask if she could pat him - she had wanted to, after watching a human do it, but never found enough courage to do so - when the sudden loud noise from behind made her jump... And emptied her of her courage; she ended up staring wistfully at the professor for a bit before sighing to herself.

Another day, maybe, another day.

"Is this another medical facility, by any chance? Or a different type of work site?" She assumed that they must monitor other things as well, "And for approximately how long will we be gone, in Halloween time?"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 23, 2012 9:42 pm

A small black hole right in the ground, a portal was already waiting for the students even as the professor answered the questions, always patiently.

< It is indeed a work site, but this one is not a medical facility. DETH has many stations around the Human World doing different tasks. This one is especially made to research further on Humans, to learn more about them by observing them of course in their natural environment as well as the many things they do. I will explain further once we arrive. > He tilted his head, just slightly at the last odd question. < Halloween time and Human World time work differently. In the Human World time we will be gone for only one hour, but in Halloween time this could be anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. This is why I chose a day where there were no classes scheduled. >

Lastly, he turned to Junko, beady red eyes blinking steadily. < The colleagues are of Halloween, though you may be lucky enough to see the occasional Human DETH colleage. Human DETH workers are extremely rare, as most Humans cannot see us! Most of us from DETH are of Halloween. > A pause. < Now, follow me students, we will try to travel quickly so that we do not waste too much time! >

He stepped over and then hopped right into the portal.

*

The other side was extremely quiet, a small hut that was very much like a Reaper abode in Halloween. They might have been in the semblance of a kitchen, and a little beyond, a small cozy den where a fireplace was currently crackling. A few seconds later, the door opened to the side of them with a small ding as two figures closed their umbrellas they were carrying, running inside, soaked in water. The torrential weather could be seen through the door and every window, fat droplets of rain that continued to splatter the glass panes.

The first hooded figure, wearing a rubber yellow raincoat, stopped shaking his umbrella the second he noticed Professor QB. "Ah yes, Professor, I'm so sorry!" He wiped his muddied boots against the mat before approaching the students. "I had no clue this weather would be so- so dreadful in the human world. I believe they call this -ahem - raining cabs and frogs Appropriate I think personally." The tubby figure seemed extremely pleased with himself. "Now I'm afraid Humans are very sensitive with their weather, almost magically aligned, from my astute observations. In which because they will all be holed up in their homes, and it is bad manners to invade a Human World home without permission or a license, we will instead schedule some fun and simple indoor activities."

The other figure, the taller one wearing a dripping black hood, simply nodded, once.

< That will be fine, I appreciate this. > The professor nodded and then looked towards the students. < Eugene is an esteemed colleague of mine in DETH and his own apprentice, just a step higher from where you students are now as interns, will help you get started. > His ears twitched, and then his tail. < I will leave them with you then, there are some things I still need to take care of in the Human World, bad weather or not.>

"Ah, let me get you the door then! Are you sure you wont need one of these lovely umbrellas I made, they are just absolutely smashing." Eugene waddled over to where the Professor was currently headed.

< I will be fine, thank you. I will see you back in one hour. > The door chimed closed behind him.

"All right then, we should probably get started too. Mike, can you show them our underground walkways?" He turned to the students again. "We're doing some information gathering, just observing Human habits, both currently and of course more importantly, their history. Past history is just as important as present, and Humans are indeed a complex, unrivaled mystery of mysteries."

Mike was already moving what seemed like a circular object on the ground, revealing an oddly shaped trap door with a ladder leading downwards. Eugene continued to talk even as they walked down, even as a very rancid smell assaulted all students.

"I do apologize for the smell, these Humans call it their sewers, but I find these passageways extremely handy for such emergency situations." He nodded, leading the way with a simple torch lamp. "Let me explain what we will do when we get there. We are visiting an abandoned warehouse today, a perfect spot for DETH beginners to start. What I want you to do is look for clues, hints, anything leading to Human behaviour. A book perhaps, or a discarded piece of clothing. A Human food article. Something on the walls. Each of you will take a notebook - which I will hand to you soon - as well as a bag and collect articles and write down notes. Consider it a good means of Human observation."

He continued to talk for a steady ten minutes about the mysteries of Human daily life, their clothing, and past history, until they finally arrived at another ladder. Slowly and steadily he clambered up.

The abandoned warehouse, as it was called, was extremely dilapidated to the point where it felt like the entire expanse was almost about to collapse. Rain could be heard hitting the thin tiles from above, some of the water dripping into the vast expanse. Discarded fragments, skeletons of walls, rusting beams, wireframe ceilings protruded everywhere, making the area a natural labyrinth. Bits and pieces anywhere from glass bottles to smoky plastic bins decorated the visible parts of the floor.

"We are unsure what Humans were doing here as well, which is why you will be playing detectives today," Eugene explained, very much pulling out a small backpack and a few notebooks and small bags which he began handing out. "Now, it is very easy to get lost, so make sure you remember this entrance, this is the largest room in the entire warehouse. Don't wander too far, it is indeed a natural maze in here. And if you need help, simply call for Mike, he will be waiting for you at the entrance."

While Eugene was in general, extremely friendly, he also pretty much gave the students absolutely no room to talk. However, the task was simple enough, and really, questions could always be reserved for later. The tubby creature beamed. "I have great confidence in you students, great confidence. There is a small thing, this Human World concoction called a London Fog I've been trying to perfect back in my workplace, so unfortunately I will have to leave you in Mike's capable hands. I will see you in an hour, enjoy, enjoy!"

He kept on waving and saying 'Enjoy!' even as he headed down the stairs.

Mike, still dripping wet and wearing the hood, simply shrugged, extremely apathetic and slightly hostile. The students were on their own for now.

Mot stared at everything with awe, the cozy room, the weather. In fact his nose was practically pressed to the glass as he observed it. He took notes. However, the sewer was met with gagging and both hands clasping over his mouth. He took more notes after.

The warehouse. Mot took his notepad again and began writing and sketching to everything he saw, and everything the chubby man was saying. This was all super important after all.

Finally, they were left with the creepy hooded one, and given what they needed to play detective. "Eee~" Mot squealed quietly and headed inside.

He tried not to stray far, going down one path, and one path only, making a map on his notepad. Soon he came across a small room, with piles and racks of clothing. Odd clothing. Puffy dresses, lacy garments and fluffy wigs. They were all blindingly colourful, even though some had been damaged or dirtied from lack of care. Accessories and trickets, hair clips and crowns.

It was... kind of scary.

"It would seem that human females lack natural hair growth and require a wig to cover themselves... they also seem to require copious amounts of pink in order to fit in, I assume." Mot wrote this all down.

Now for a field sample.

The reaper took up one of the least damaged dresses and folded it neatly into his bag.

Lizzy liked the place they were at, immediately after they stepped through the portal; it was warm, cozy, and reminded her a little of home. She took her place beside Mot, staring at the dark skies and water outside; it was as if someone was constantly emptying giant buckets of water down on them.. She had never seen rain like this back in Halloween, and it surprised her that the window was cold to the touch, despite it being warm inside.

Was it cold outside then?

When Professor QB had to leave, she almost made a sad little sound, feeling more comfortable with him around, rather than being left with two strangers. Still, if the professor trusted them... She nodded, following them underground when asked to. She wrinkled her nose when a horrible stench grew stronger and stronger, until it was almost overpowering; she could only imagine what it must be like for Thackery, who probably had a more sensitive nose. Clasping both hands over her nose, she made a face, contented with just listening to Eugene talk about the human world.

The warehouse, although looking rather ancient, was a welcoming sight - and smell - after enduring the sewers. She smiled, taking the items that were being handed out, managing a wave at Eugene right before he left them with Mike; brooding aside, the boil didn't seem to be a bad person...

"I blend in," The demoness whispered; having followed Mot for a bit, she had settled down on the floor beside the pile of clothing and accessories that he had found. Staying still for a moment, she then ended up giggling, pushing herself off the floor. As she dusted her skirt off, she spotted a box with something colorful in it... Or would have been colorful were they not so faded.

Squatting beside the box, she picked up one of the cans to better examine it; there was the word 'Montana' near the top, and 'Gold' near the bottom; between them was something that looked like a bloody G... She had no idea what those things were, although they looked like some sort of spray can.

She begun to sketch it into her notebook before jotting down the colors that existed on the top of the cans in the box; maybe those would provide a clue.

So this was what a regular human place looked like? It was vastly different from the Haunted House and from what she had seen of the Hunters' fortress of a home. It looked...well..normal in the hut. The rubber yellow raincoat got a look of disapproval from her, however. Rubber? Eugh. And yellow? Just...straight yellow?! There was absolutely nothing cute about that coat! Ugh! She could make such a better one. One that flattered their figure and wasn't just an ugly rubber trenchcoat.. Raining cabs and frogs!? Rain here sounded dangerous! The figure with the black hood had Junko's undivided attention, her face void of emotion as she just stared. Why weren't they saying anything? Why did they keep their hood up inside? It was soaking wet. Wouldn't they get sick? It wasn't as if they could possibly scare them with their face...

She didn't like it. Take off your hood, you're inside.

Junko had no choice but to follow quietly down into the--OH JACK THAT SMELL! She gagged at first, covering her nose and mouth with her sleeve and staying as close to the wall as possible. Grossgrossgrossgrossgross! She was so happy that Eugene didn't prompt any questions from them as she wouldn't be able to open her mouth without doing something very unladylike. She was grateful for the fresh air when they made it to the warehouse, breathing in deeply and sighing happily. Thank Jack, no sewer smell. Junko was smiling again as she looked around at the ruined warehouse, accepting the notebook and bag with a quiet nod. This didn't seem hard.

Wait, what? They had to trust Mr. Hood? Junko cast a wary glance toward the silent Mike, her smile falling. Why wasn't he saying anything? Maybe he was mute...

But why did he make her feel uncomfortable?

Shaking her head, Junko headed into the warehouse after Mot and Lizzy. She gasped when she spotted the dress Mot was stuffing into his bag and Lizzy pretending to be one of them, her eyes wide. "Cute! May I have that dress if they let us keep what we find, Mot?" Junko called out with a smile, stupidly walking and not looking where she was doing. She stepped on something hard and round, squealing loudly with surprise and falling to the ground with a grunt. Owwwww..what was...?

"...A bowl? Weird." She tilted her head to one side and picked it up. There was nothing really weird about a bowl. It didn't even look worth keeping.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 24, 2012 12:27 pm

Mot chuckled at Lizzy. Wow, she really did fit in. He cast a glance to Junko, nodding politely. "Of course. I've no need for such things, after all."

He inhaled sharply as she fell, making his way over to help out. "You're not hurt, are you?"

Upon checking on Junko, Mot found himself a bowl. Junko seemed to have found Bowl corner. This seemed to be metal, and terribly rusty. He feared it would fall apart upon touching it.

"I wonder what the humans use this for?" He asked to himself and the others, carefully wrapping it and putting it into a separate pocket of the bag.
