Bangil was excited, more then excited really - she'd just received the news that her best friend - who was really more like a sister had finally had some foals of her own...and with a mate who was going to stick around no less. Well that fact was a bit less exciting and truth be told she was even a little bit jealous about it. Thus far none of her relationships had panned out and while she certainly didn't regret having Zangar and Lyric it would have been better to have them in a proper family.

Despite all of this however she was looking forward to taking the trip to see Jarita and this herd she was currently staying with. From Mercy's directions she was fairly certain that it was going to be a long trip and so she had decided to take some time and make sure that things back here would be alright while she was gone. She'd talked to Zangar..talked to Lyric and was now thinking about making it an early night before joining back up with Char and heading out early the next morning. Well if she could actually go to sleep that is..at the moment she was hardly sleepy and found herself doing little more then idely wandering about the small clearing she'd chosen to spend the night in, cropping grass here and there in nervous motions.

While they had been in a hurry to return home Penthesilea knew that traveling at night as well as during the day would only wear them out. They had not been keeping up with their regular training, though some would consider the large amount of traveling that they had been doing plenty. Penthesilea knew otherwise, though they may still look and feel strong they were in fact not in peak shape anymore and would need to work hard once back home to rebuild their bodies. And so it had been her decision to find a place to set down for the night and get some good sleep before taking in another full day or traveling.

That pair set down in a large open area, and took a moment to survey the land closely. They had looked it over from the area and it seemed like a good place to stop. There was a water source just a short walk away, plenty of grass and trees and a single Soquili who, as Penthesilea cast her gaze upon her, looked to be a bit out of sorts. Giving her wings a stretch the pale mare began to walk towards the other, noting her nervous movements. "If it is a predator you are worried about then you should be hiding, not standing out in plain sight." She said to the other mare. What else could this mare possibly be worried about? Glancing back she watched Yakut wander off a few feet to inspect something on the ground. Perhaps she had heard the voices once more, and so she left her sister to it, knowing it was best not to interrupt her in times like these.

Yakut did not disagree when the call for a good nights rest went out. She was a bit tired, though she hated to admit such a thing. To think they had let themselves get so weak over the past few months. In reality they were far from weak, but without the daily push to train and spending more hours flying and walking, while spending not enough time sleeping or eating properly they were not as they had once been. Setting down beside her sister Yakut gave her muscles a stretch as Penthesilea went to investigate the mare who was grazing nearby. She was momentarily distracted by a few rocks and sticks scattered about the grass. As she busied herself with poked them with her hoof her sister had walked closer to the mare and had spoken. Yakut's head lifted up, once she realized the rocks and sticks were nothing more than rocks and sticks.

The mare did seem oddly nervous. Casting her gaze around once more Yakut confirmed that there were no others about, unless there was something or someone lurking in the forest, but she doubted that based strictly on the bird calls and other sounds of small animals. They would not be out if something was stalking in the shadows. Walking over Yakut got nice and close to the mare, looking at her markings before her gaze fell upon the bones. "Perhaps it is death she fears. Though she wears it. Do you call for it? Or are you it's friend?" The dark mare shook her head, the beads on her pelt headdress rattling softly. Though she could not tell exactly what the bones had once belonged to she knew they were real and was drawn to them, simply because so few others would dare to wear something such as bones or pelts.

Bangil was lost in her own thoughts and so didn't notice the two mares approach until one of them spoke to her. Pausing her pacing only to turn and face the approaching pale mare Bangil shook her head slightly "Predators? No..this is a fairly safe area, Hasn't been any large predators or attacks in a good many years" She shared with the mare - not of course that that meant there wouldn't be any in the future..but it was probably quite unlikely.

Of course the other mares words were a great deal more disturbing and Bangil had to blink at her for a few moments before she realized that it was her skullbone headpiece the darker mare was referring to "Of course I don't call death! and I'am not particularly afraid of dying at the moment either..the skullbones are a present from my mother in the swamp" She told the dark mare, somewhat irritated at both mares for implying that she was afraid of something. She wasn't one of those skittish prissy mares that all the stallions seemed to be so fond of. "I was simply thinking about a trip I am taking shortly." She stated before looking aside at the pale mare - who seemed to be the more normal of the two "Is there something wrong with her?"

Penthesilea nodded her head slightly. "That is fair enough, though even safe havens can be prone to attack, the residents grow too relaxed and never expect anything bad to happen. And when it does it is too late to stop it." She knew well that years of peace could only bring disaster. Was that not what had happened with her own herd. They had been quiet for many years, keeping to themselves and then before anyone realized it would happen the fighting had started and far too many lives had been lost. Never again, she promised herself. The mares reactions to Yakut were enough to bring a slight smile to her lips. Yakut's words and actions were often misinterpreted by strangers so she stepped in to explain. "No one truly calls for death, though it is believed, by some, that wear such items can be a way of honoring death, calling for it themselves or in some rarer cases attempting to keep it at bay."

As the mare went on to explain the reason for her nervous actions Penthesilea bobbed in head in understanding. They had been traveling for some long now it was easy to understand the mares predicament. They themselves had not wished to leave their home but had to under the circumstances. "Traveling can be a stressful thing, especially when large distances are being crossed. We have been traveling for many months now." She paused to consider the question posed about Yakut. Glancing over at her sister, who had since walked a short distance away, head lowered, concentrating on a large rock Penthesilea shook her head and returned her gaze to the other mare. "No, she is alright, simply travel weary."

Having her sister explain the reason to her questions made Yakut frown slightly. So few understood what she tried to say. It was no her fault that the pattern of speech she used was not easily recognized by others. Those were not the only reasons she had questioned the mare about the bones, her own fascination with death and it's deep connection to life were what had brought her gaze to the bones in the first place. Death could not exist without life, and life was dependent upon death. So intertwined were these two factions that many did not see how important the other was. Giving her head a shake Yakut wandered off while Penthesilea took to chatting with the mare. Something was nagging for her attention and she wasn't about to play the game of pleasantries and miss something important.

Only a few feet away did she find the source of her interest. A large rock, nestled deep into the ground sat and begged for her attention. The voices were quiet in her head and around her at the moment but she was certain this rock held come importance to her. Or the voices could be teasing her once more, they had been doing just that quite frequently as of late. With a single glance back at the others as they were busy talking Yakut lowered her head and began to listen for anything the rock might say to her. So far it was being as quiet as a rock, but soon it would say something, she could feel it in her bones.
