This RP is between Pavolv (Angelique DelaMort) and Cheveyo (Theidren)

User Image It was a dark, cold night. Well of course it was. After all, these stories couldn't happen on a bright sunny afternoon. Well, actually, they could to Pavlov. Anytime was a frightening time for this stallion. It wasn't so much that he was a coward, I mean he certainly was, but that wasn't why he was frightened all the time. Pavlov had a special talent of sorts, more of a curse really. He saw things. All the time. Frightening things, the stuff of nightmares - from shadows that turned to pools and swallowed you up to creeping vines that could wrap and choke to things too horrendous to put into words. He saw it all, everyday, and perhaps if someone, anyone else, could have seen what he saw he would have been a hero of sorts to have made it this far. But no one ever did. All they saw was a sad, shaking stallion muttering to himself "Not there, not there..." and walking backwards with his eyes closed. Which, admittedly, did make it difficult for Pavlov to make friends.

On this particular evening, punctuated by a harsher chill than normal for this time of year, Pavlov was making his way to the local watering hole with the simple goal of getting a drink of water without seeing a sea monster come up to drag him down to the watery depths. Of course, nothing is ever simple for Pavlov.

User Image The weather conditions were not quite ideal on this night. Kind of a cold and creepy sort of dark out. That was ok with Cheveyo however. He felt quite proud of himself for volunteering to go out on patrol. In his mind he was doing everyone a favor by volunteering.

There was nothing more Chev like to do than to go out on patrol. Not only was he keeping his kind safe from unknown harm, but he like to explore while he was out. He like to help and he was bound and determine to jump in and help whoever needed it...even if he made a fool of himself.

Chev was lost in thought as he tried to "quietly" patrol along on a new route he had decided to try. Everyone needed a refreshing drink so Cheveyo stomped along the dense wood until he bumbled out of the tree line near a watering hole. Chev looked behind him as he half tripped over a covered root. Recovering with all the grace he could think to muster he continued on closer to the water.

Pavlov abruptly halted his approach when he heard a loud sound. Sounds weren't completely uncommon with his...visions. "H-Hello?" he called timidly. He didn't matter if he was drawing attention to himself. If it was one of his it would find him one way or another and the sooner they got this over with, the better. Maybe if he saw something on land, nothing would interrupt his drink. That thought made him almost hopeful, or as hopeful as anyone could be who expected to see a disturbing vision any moment.

Cheveyo, too occupied recovering from his stumble, didn't see the other stallion until he heard a hello call out. Neither did Chev recognize that the hello in question did in fact sound to be a timid one. Grinning from ear to ear Chev almost pranced the rest of the distance between them.
"Why hello there strange sir" he stopped a respectable distance from the new stallion.
"What a...nice night to be out and about!" Chev paused trying to lighten the attempt on the not so great weather.
"My name is Cheveyo watcher of the woods, protector of the small!" If he smiled any brighter his teeth might start to glow on their own accord.

Pavlov withdrew just a few steps as the new stallion came into view. Though he couldn't help looking at the stallion's very bright and seemingly very large teeth, this new comer seemed to be talking to him, and while his visions could do many disturbing and mind numbing things, talking in coherent until now had not been one of them. So...with that in mind, odds were good that this was not a vision. So this was a real stallion...that he was alone with in the middle of the woods. Well, at least he looked friendly, or Pavlov hopped all those teeth were friendly. And he did say he was a protector. That was good, wasn't it?

"I'm Pavlov," the startled stallion replied quietly. "You really watch the woods?"

"Very nice to make your acquaintance" Cheveyo took a slight step forward and bowed his tined head to Pavlov. He almost pulled it off but got his antlers caught in a great shrubbery or a bush to his left. Chev shook himself free easily and answered Pavlov's question.
"Well I don't watch them all the time, mostly I watch the goings on in the woods." He paused to think about it further.
"I do like to make sure things are growing well and no one is destroying what they shouldn't". At that Chev gave a slight shudder as his mind popped him into the terrible times back home, before they all moved to this great new land. Clearing his throat,
"What bring you out and about at this hour?" Cheveyo gave a quick scan of their surrounding around to make sure everything looked alright before returning his attention to Pavlov. Who himself was an interesting sight to see.

"Just a drink of water," Pavlov said quickly. He didn't need to tell this other stallion that he was planning the safest way to get a drink without getting too, too close to the deep parts of the water. He tried to process everything Cheveyo said and paused. "Things are destroyed in the woods?" He always figured that was just his visions messing with his mind, but the idea of actual destruction was a little distressing to him.

Taking a moment to run through all the lands he had mapped thus far, which hadn't been a lot, Chev asked.
"Water? do you live near here?" He flicked his tail and lightly danced forwards closer to the waters edge.
"I shall drink with you new friend" As Cheveyo slowly moved closer to the water he thought on how this new question.
"This in nature are destroyed, it's the cycle of life." Then continued to say
"I haven't seen anywhere yet that had looked to be purposefully destroyed which is good." Chev dropped his head slightly as he began to remember all the horrible destruction that had happened to the Cerynei home land. Sighing softly he tried to force all the bad memories into the back of his mind.

"Well, I guess I do, at least for now," he said quietly as he leaned down slowly towards the water with his eyes closed. He Really didn't want to have an episode now. Not when someone was actually talking to him, he didn't want to look like a freak. But what the other stallion said interested him. "Then it is natural for some things to be...different?" he asked hesitantly after taking his drink.

Cheveyo only gave an mmmhmmm as he leaned down towards the water to take a long drink. It might be cold out, but it made the water crisp and satisfying. After he finished he shifted his weight back so he wasn't leaning into the watering hole.
"I would have to say, after all the traveling I've done, that it is a natural thing" Chev noticed that Pavlov seemed to be concentrating fully on getting his drink of water. He couldn't tell if he was just trying to enjoy the coldness of the drink or if it was something else.
"Not all the trees are the same or plants or even all animals" Chev noted as he thought of all the different flora and fauna he had ever encountered.
"Even if it seems bad it is still natural, bee's have stingers to help them protect the hive, some plants are poisonous but for their own survival." Cheveyo realized he had been talking non stop.
"Sorry....I just like to learn about those things" He paused and laughed heartily.

Pavlov cringed, visions of haunting hornets and poisonous vines poised for attack flashing in his mind. Maybe he'd get lucky and he'd forget them. The stallion let out a bitter little laugh; he was Never lucky. "There is...nothing wrong with learning things," he said finally. "A-at least I've never thought so. I wouldn't mind spending more of my time learning things." Instead of being afraid all the time, he thought to himself.

"Well then..." Cheveyo smiled and raised his great tined head high and proud.
"It would be my honor to take you on patrol with me if you wish" Chev was interested in what was going on with this new stallion. He had not totally missed the sound of Pavlov's laugh. Plus anyone who was interested in learning more about the forest was cool in Chev's book.
"I wanted to east a little and check out this copse of trees" He nodded carefully so as not to take anything...or anyone out with his antlers.
"I also heard about a forest of oaks I may head to find" Chev beamed again, he prided himself in his knowledge of the wood.
"What say you friend?" Cheveyo made to take off but purposely hesitated to see what Pavlov would decide.

"P-Patrol?" Pavlov repeated with what he hoped was only mild terror in his voice. "Oh, oh no, oh no, I don't think I could," he said quickly. He spent his time trying to see as little as possible, after all, if he couldn't see something than it couldn't frighten him, right? Except for darkness, he was always afraid of the dark, or more specifically of those dread inspiring things that surely lurked in the dark.

"I mean," he started again timidly, "it's not that I don't appreciate the offer because I do, I really do, but I just don't have your courage you see and well, if you saw what I saw you would understand..."
PostPosted: Fri Aug 17, 2012 8:23 pm

Cheveyo turned around in a quick fluid motion to face Pavlov.
"Patrol does sound kind of...." He didn't want to say scary
"Intense" he quickly added with a decisive nod. Chev loosened his muscles up and looked at Pavlov intently so he would know he meant what he was about to say.
"Since relocating to these new lands I have yet to have anything bad happen while on patrol." He broke up the serious moment by shaking his heavily antlered head.
"That's what these are for anyways, if anything DID happen, and it won't, I'll take care of it" Cheveyo motioned for them to go.
"Everyone has the small seeds of courage, even in their darkest moments." he quoted something he had been told once in a more dire time. Cheveyo gave a friendly smile.
"Want to talk about what things you see while we check out these trees? You wont be sorry they are quite beautiful." he motioned to move again.

"I fear you would not believe me," the skeletal stallion said quietly, relenting and following the other Soquili. Of course it would be worse if Cheveyo did believe him. That would mean he saw what Pavlov saw and as reassuring as it would be to know for once that he was not insane, Pavlov did not really want to live in a world where his hellish visions were a reality. At least his visions seemed to be restrained for the moment (although that could change at any time).

"You are correct," the timid stallion said. "The trees a quite fascinating." And as of yet, just trees - no tenticals, no killer apples, all's well so far...
