His time in the hospital was short, physical wounds would heal quickly, but mental wounds would sadly last and no bandage would help with that. So it was quickly decided that Roland could be sent off to continue the usual life of a hunter. As of late that involved worrying about friends in the Life labs, worrying about friends recently released, fixing all the things, and more training.

Today was a training day.

As such he stood just outside the Suns training course portal arms crossed staring at the gateway. It was one of the few still up and running as it wasn't connected directly to the outside world and thus not a priority to the Horsemens attack. The later of which he recalled from his trip to the Lair. He hadn't fought, not really against them. Mostly he ran. He recalled how Marcus warned him about his fighting style and as much as the guy was rude like Rep, he had a decent point. He needed to expand how he fought.

Still he had to start somewhere so where better then the basics?

Text To Rep:
Hey Rep. Teach me how to sun? Meet me at the portal to the course.

He figured who better to teach him then Rep right? And it would be a decent reason to see Tracey up close in action, after all Rep had talked his weapon up a fair bit the first few times the topic was brought up.

<< Are you sure about this Roland? You do recall our past few days and how much 'fun' we've had shouldn't you be I don't know fussing over Ceres and fixing walls? >>

"Yes, and no. Screw the labs. That places is filled with Mist Dragons..."

<< You are a mist you bleeding coward! >>

"Shut up and go sing you're self a happy tune, you get to eat today...."

<< Welllll when you put it that way.... >> It was all the prompting she needed to launch into a series of hums in the back of his mind while they waited for the other hunter to arrive.

Rep hadn't stopped for anything other than the usual day to day functions and to spend time in the infirmary visiting. Other than this, it had been a non-stop grind of physical training. He woke up each morning with every inch of his body aching, but that was a good thing, he was pushing his limits, getting back into the groove of fighting with his partner again.

He was just heading out to the training fields when he received the text and changed his destination. He reminded himself as he went that shadow run was as much of a workout as the training fields anyway - so it wasn't like newbie was pushing him around - had he felt he was being pressured, he'd just flat out not shown up as a "lesson".

It didn't take long for him to arrive, jacket tied around his waist, walking with his usual stride, as if he owned every last thing he laid eyes on. Ro was given an appraising, critical sort of look as he headed over.

"Teach you how to sun, really? You need to stop being a weedy ******** little runt first you know. Suns are all about no ******** fear, being as much a weapon as their weapon and the eclipse." he turned his eyes on the portal. "The most I can teach you. Is how to stop being such an embarrassment. Falling over in the desert okay, everyone falls over and s**t. Begging for approval like a ******** performing seal after? Unacceptable. You do your ******** job, you do it well and you keep doing it well regardless."

He waved a hand dismissively "But that's probably enough of a ******** lecture. Long story short. No one ever gets positive feedback here. Just doesn't ******** happen. Go fishing for it, you'll start to get the negative feedback. Now come on."

Moving into the portal, he eyed up the corridor ahead, slowly heaving with massed shadows, shadowlings that slowly registered their arrival.

"You go first, I don't want to ******** clip you while you are behind me."

When he finally arrived Roland didn't hesitate to summon Silvya to his hand, resting the scythe over one shoulder easily as the red head strode over with just a dash more swagger then he usually had. The lack of a shackle and Tracey did wonders for making the abrasive hunter somewhat more cheerful it seemed.

Or arrogantand self-rightous but they where one in the same it seemed.

"My bad for being five foot four and not exactly ripped all through highschool. You almost sound like my dad when you say that and he makes the lot of us look completely sane the crazy b*****d." It was partially true, most of the hunters only 'saw things' when the horsemen where involved. His dad was just ape s**t.

He paused at the fear comment, and the mention of the eclipse. "I don't think I get a personal Moon like Ceres of Harrison, half the time I'm expected to fill in the roll of Moon it seems, more so then Sun."

The next part actually made him shrink down a bit though, his eyes trailing to the ground, "Right. No approval, sorry for that then.. I just... hell I didn't get eaten alive by a giant worm, figured that had to be worth something considering I've barely made my first month here." On the flip side he had also failed to fight a horsemen, got burned alive, and Ceres kicked his a** like it was childs play.

Shuffling along he moved through the portal, right into a tunnel of squirming shadows.

"Holy ********. This is... the mistaken tower had a lot of these things but this is just insane..."

<< Don't trip >>

< Shut up please? >

<< Make me. >> With that the weapon began to hum her usual tunes as she readied for the fight ahead. Moving forward he glanced back at Rep, "You sure that's safe? Tracey's big enough for me to hide behind him..." He glanced back down the path and took a deep breath. Whatever Rep said after the last comment would be drowned out by the sound of shadowlings moving in.

Just as they got in close he started to rotate, bringing the scythe in wide sweeps knocking most aside, cleaving a few others in half. It wasn't perfect, but he was making his way along.

Shadow run. If there was a training run he loved it was this one, despite the many times he'd gone down in here in a barrage of shadowy claws, he kept right on coming back. One day he'd be able to walk through it he told himself, be able to walk through and have even the shadowlings cower in fear from him. It was a grand and delusional aspiration, but he didn't care one bit. He was a grand and delusional kind of guy.

Rep wasn't about to let the newbie shelter behind Tracey and watched critically as he swept at the shadowlings, connecting with the encroaching horde.

"Just like that. Your weapon is ******** ideal for this kind of thing." As was Tracey. A trail of red runic energy in the dark was all that marked the passing of the massive blade as several of the creatures trying to creep behind them found themselves brutally dissipated.

"Don't let them overwhelm you or you are ******** dead." Not quite dead, but it didn't hurt to add a bit of urgency into a situation.

Even as Rep complimented Sylvia the weapon let out a delighted giggle, it seemed that was enough to convince both hunter and weapon to move even quicker. The scythe turned end over end rotating about knocking Shadowlings aside, but this time it cleaved through more then just a handful, thin yellow runes glowing in the dark along with just a hint of mist trailing from the blade.

"Aye! Candace said full rotations; she was right!" On that note he spun his whole body the bladed tip of Sylvia's form cleaving another three shadows with ease.

He chose to ignore that last comment as Silvya let out another delighted giggle.

Endless crawling hissing waves of abominations. He'd missed this so much. Being shackled there'd been nothing to do but the tedious - lab duties didn't compare in the least to the rush of a training run. Sometimes sharp little claws would seize him as he strode forward, only for the razor sharp punishment of the serrated blades of Tracey to learn the monster too late why it was a bad idea.

Always he remained aware of Ro just ahead - part of the discipline he tried to practice was that of not smacking friendly teammates with the oversized axe when he swung him. It was critical if he was to work with moons and mists that he didn't try and knock them out.

Well. Most of them anyway. There would always be an "accidental" exception or two for Marcus.

Whatever celebration could have been made of his progress. Well, personal celebration as he was surely getting no love from Rep when it came to doing something right, was about to end as he started to make mistakes.

A shadow went high instead of low, he was worried about Rep swinging Tracey behind him, his foot hit a stone wrong and slid. Next thing he knew shadows where starting to swarm him. Not enough to drop him, but his attacks became more erratic. A stab from the butt of Syliva here, a poke from the tip and a lazy slash here. All to drive them off as he kept marching towards the tunnels end.

Rep might not have been one to readily give compliments, but that didn't mean he wasn't aware that the mist hunter had managed to stay upright this long and to keep clear of the pressing swarm of shadows. It was no small feat to do either, the tunnel was a dangerous and cramped space and the shadowlings were often wily to say the least.

Even as he almost slipped and went down, he managed a last minute recovery to keep himself going, which was when it came down to it, what it was all about.

"Good." Rep smirked behind him, moving to sweep through another slew of the creatures. Tracey was practically built for this sort of combat, large numbers but close together, and he was all but humming with charge, the glow of his runes bright enough to turn the immediate vicinity into some sort of grisly darkroom.

The one word compliment was hardly heard as he continued his unsteady press towards the end. The tunnel was almost complete, but the slip ups from earlier had cost him. His footing was constantly forced to shift to avoid snapping claws and teeth. His swings half the effort to kill and more to parry and push back. Sylvia might have been meant for sweeping room clearing blows, but when you didn't have time to set those up she quickly started to work against him.

<< Don't stop, you've almost made it just keep pushing them back! >>

Rep was quite happily cleaving his way through the massed shadows when he decided that he might as well use the charge he'd been carrying along. After all, it hadn't steered him badly in the past and generally cut a swathe through the corridor.

Tracey practically purred in his thoughts, in approval at this idea.

What happened next happened in slow motion, the usual kick of the charge was faaaar in excess of what he could have expected, the axe crackling with sheer energy across all of its surface, tendrils of shadow extending through the feathered edge of the blade. His arm almost felt like it was hauled out of its socket as he was hurled forward with the sheer momentum of the swing.

It resulted in a very messy attempt at recovery which ended up in most of the attack being swung back on him as the arc went wrong and trapped him beneath the weight of the axe. The shadowlings took advantage and piled on in their tens.

It took every bit of energy he had to get them off him and keep going up the corridor, but by some virtue of sheer frustrated rage at himself, he managed to claw his way to his feet, using anything he had at his disposal to fight back the grabbing clawing masses, even his teeth.

Snarling and bristling he hauled himself to his feet and punted one of the bastards down the corridor.

"THIS IS MY ******** HALLWAY."
he roared, it was a matter of pride.

His last steps where a bit more stable, Sylvia lashing out to cut down a pair of shadowling as he knocked back the rest stumbling to the end of the tunnel before looking back.

Chaos was what he saw, Rep was going down after a lunging attack trying to destroy the shadows, instead he seemed to stagger under his own swing. "REP!" He reached back towards the other hunter and his jaw dropped.

What was once a pile of shadows was now a pissed off raging Hunter lashing out in every direction tossing, biting, punching and kicking all the other shadows away.

"H-holy s**t."

The damage was done however. The time it had taken Rep to get to his feet had permitted the shadowlings time to gather, to come up with a plan of sorts - at least as much of a plan as the creatures were capable of. As Rep attempted determinedly to hack his way on down the corridor, he found himself surrounded, cut off from Ro by an ever growing number of creatures.

"Ah <********> he sighed as the futility of it sunk in. Oh well, whatever. He'd go down fighting, and snarl of defiance, he plowed into the gathered shadowlings.

And didn't come back out.

Next thing he knew, he was being dragged out of the shadow run by the hunter on duty and left to recover in the room outside. He rubbed his temples with a sigh.

"Please say you at least ******** made it?"

He could only wince as he watched Rep charge headlong into that last wall of shadows. Another hunter guarding by the portal ushered him inside tsking as he looked back at Rep while moving Roland along.

Finally on the otherside he saw Rep brought in, a slight hint of relief in the way his shoulders seemed to relax at seeing the other hunter in one piece.

"Y-yeah. Can't say it was uh, a glorious run. I spent most of the time just pushing them aside and scrambling forward." He gave Rep a once over noting he seemed to be in one piece in deed.

"What was that back there, with Tracey. You moved quicker, or Tracey did. What was that?" He was honestly curious, he had seen Rep fight once against the worm in the desert, but this had been different. Even in failure Rep had easily cleaned up more shadows then he did himself.

Rep sighed heavily before shrugging.

"Honestly? I don't even ******** know what Tracey did in there. It was like. I was trying to do my usual charge, it used to just be like, I dunno, a sort of power boost? But he's gotten a lot ******** faster and harder to handle during it."

He looked thoughtful, trying to place exactly what the ******** had gone wrong with the charge.

"Its like you know how when you have a trolley in a shop? And it like. Wants to go over to like, I dunno, one side cause it has a wonky wheel and you have to fight it? Kind of like that. He just wanted to go and I tried to fight it and it just all went ******** tits up."

Running a hand through his messy hair, he sat up a bit straighter, muscles protesting the gesture as he did so - he'd been giving himself more punishment these last few days than he had in weeks.

"Long story short, I ******** up and ******** failed because of it." he glared coldly as if just daring Roland to find this amusing or to mock him for the error.
