Rinji was happy and content. His life was good, the best it had been in a very long time. His wife, or lifemate to some species, and himself were married and trying for little ones. Today was the day he would go up to the elders and ask for acceptance into the pridelands to be with his celtic goddess, Maswali. At least he hoped he would be accepted… the thought of being apart from her left his stomach in knots. He roamed around the border in deep thought. Maybe he would try to find another lion to interact with until the time came to talk to the elders. They generally were busy folk and had many responsibilities to handle.
Pandra had been wandering around the rogue lands bored out of her skull. The rogue lands just didn’t hold the appeal as it once did for her. She had yet to run into any of her sibling or her parents, and if she was honest with herself… she didn’t think she was going too for the rest of her life. Her nose twitched at the sudden smell of male lion. Curious and curious-er. To check out who was around these parts or not? Besides the lands looked really healthy, the perfect place to settle down. Grass everywhere, the soft kind, and land as far as the eye can see.
Calida bumbled along a huge rock trying to keep her balance, it wouldn’t be cool if she was to fall… plus it would hurt like heck. Again her siblings were off busy doing whatever they wanted to do, so she decided to find herself something that would keep her entertained. At the beginning balancing and posing was fun now… it was becoming boring as well as repetitive. Snorting she looked around her homelands. “SO. BORED.” She belted out with no care for others ears, which was followed by a squeaky roar. She had been practicing.
Rinji swerved his ears towards a noise, it almost sounded like a … to be blunt a dying animal. His fur rose up and his claw came out along with a full body shudder. “Ugh. Stop the noise!” He barked out and sighed in relief when he was met with silence. “Thank you.” A cough made him turn his head cautiously towards the right near the tree line. An eyebrow rose in surprise as an adult female lion came out from the trees shadows. She was a different sort, none like her. White with serpent like wings on her back and rainbow’d. “Was that you?” He didn’t speak in an unkind or accusatory tone, it wasn’t like he had to impress this female. He just wanted to know he wasn’t hearing things.
“Um,” Pandra answered the male lion as she checked him out. He was kinda cute in a way but so not her type. “No. You heard it to then? The noise I mean.” She watched as the other nod his head. “It sounded quite awful that is why I came near this way… well that and because I smelt you around this area too.” Cautiously she looked around always being aware of the male that stood a few feet away from her. “Where are we anyways you know?”
Calida buttoned her lip as she heard a male shout for silence. “Oops.” She whispered nervously. It sounded like an adult as the voice was too deep to be considered male. After an internal debate she moved closure to the sound of two voices speaking to one another. A male and a female were talk- “You are in the pridelands!” She spoke up when the pretty female had asked the question. She didn’t even take into account that these two could harm her. Someone had once called Cali reckless and I guess this was just one more example of that label.
Rinji jumped at the sound squeaky voice near him. A young female cub was making its way towards the both of them. “Uh, yes I was just about to say that.” He eyed the young one. “Shouldn’t you be with your family? You are a little too close to the border lands.” Rinji let his displeasure show on his face as he pictured his own family wandering around without adult supervision. He didn’t like it. He looked around for her family but was distracted by the serpent-ish female.
“Hey thanks kid,” Pandra eyed the male with a frown before turning back to the red cub with a half-smile. She previously had visited the Kitwana’Antara Lands and met an interesting fellow with the same colouring as her. An amused frown flickered across her face as she thought of him and their encounter. “Pridelands have a nice ring to it. A lot can be said in a name.” She paused to look at both lions. “Are they recruiting or… allowing others to live on these lands?” Pandra knew some prides required acceptance from the elders in order for strangers to become a member of their society.
Calida was distracted for a moment by a passing butterfly, it truly was a remarkable thing all light blue and yellow. She almost missed the question by the rainbow lioness. “Don’t know really. I was born here-” Cali looked at the male lion in hopes he would know something which by his nodding indicated he did, so Calida stopped paying attention for a moment to caught said butterfly.
Rinji assumed anyone answering the question would be okay, so he took it upon himself to answer. “Yes, you need to visit the elders in order to become fully accepted. My mate is a member and I missed the last acceptance right, so I have to go today alone. If you are interested and serious about joining you could follow me, but after that you are sorta on your own. I have to meet up with my mate as I promised I would do something with her. Oh, I’m Rinji by the way.” He spoke the last part to both females with a smile.
Huh, well that was rather easy. Pandra thought to herself. “Alright, sounds like a plan. And I’ve been on my own for a while now so no worries that you have to see your mate. I’m sure I will be fine.” She winked cheekily. “Hey Rinji… I’m Pandra.” She almost felt obligated to tell him her name and that made her feel somewhat awkward. “I guess this was my lucky day. I’ll just follow you to speak with the elders and hopefully I will be accepted... and life would be great! It sure looks healthy here unlike some areas I’ve come across.”
Adults were weird sometimes. Calida shrugged off what she couldn’t understand. She didn’t have to be accepted into the pride… but then again she was a baby at the time so maybe that was different? Ahwell. “Good luck with that,” She said almost absentmindedly as she was vastly becoming bored with all the talking. She wanted to play not chat the day away. “I’ll follow you guys into the center of the pride and then I’m gonna find my sissy or friends whichever I find first!”
Rinji smiled, children were cute…sometimes. Unwittingly an image popped into his head of little ones that looked like himself and his mate. “Oh I see little one,” He was curious about who her parents were. “ You are welcome to join us if you wish. The elders are close to the center of the pride, so it shouldn’t take too long to get where we need to go.” He gestured for the females to go first and then he followed them. Like he had stated it didn’t take them long at all before they reached their destination. “Well this is where we say goodbye to you-” He patted Calida ignoring her displeased frown at his gesture. “You be careful now.” The trained his focus on the path ahead. Hopefully all would go well with this acceptance.
With wide pink eyes Pandra took in her surroundings. It was perfect here. The grass was fresh, the earth was not to bump and the general atmosphere looked relaxed as well as welcoming. This would be the perfect place to set some family roots. Pandra paused to say her own goodbye to the younger female, “We can wait for you-” She received a hastily shaken head in return. “Well, alright then. Farewell and hopefully I shall see you soon.” She eyed the cub leaving for a moment and then turned to the huge rock with a deep cleansing breath. This was it.
"Bye mister, I'm always careful!" She was about to talk some more when she heard the other female talking. Oh nonono. Calida wanted to hang out with family not these strangers and so to cut off the offer of escort she shook her head negatively. “I best be going! Bye and good luck with joinin’ I suppose! ” Calida toddled onward moving farther away from the pair and at the last second turn around to watch both of them head of the huge rock. She had a gut feeling that she would be seeing both of them pretty soon.
