The skies were dark and overcast, the clouds heavy with rain. Just the day before, he had confronted that one man, Yuri Lowell. His words seemed to echo in his mind, and Asch knew he couldn't avoid meeting Luke again himself. He hated facing his brother, he hated the reminder of what his life had become and why. Just the false name of his brother sparked his inner anger, the indignation of the injustices that had been done throughout both of their existences. Despite that, he had to know, he had to figure out for himself what was going on. To do that, he had to speak with him.
He was near the outskirts of town and there was a rolling of thunder as Asch pulled out his Rocket Dex. He had found the number of his brother's Poketch easily enough, in case he ever needed to contact or track him. It was now that he used that number, masking the the ID of the message as he sent it.
We need to talk, Dreck. Now.
Once the message was off, he looked towards the sky just as a flash of lightning branched across the sky.

Ahh, it was going to rain. He hadn't really planned for that; maybe he needed to start watching the forecast or something... A dull buzz pulled Luke's thoughts from the matter of the weather and to the received message. He frowned, typing out a reply to the music of thunder.
Like hell.
As if that b*****d - it was pretty obvious who the sender was event with the identification masked - could just send a message and demand conversation whenever he wanted. Luke had his own things that he wanted to confirm, but not at the expense of being at Asch's beck and call. The screen of the device was suddenly blurred by a large raindrop, and more followed soon after, catching the trainer in an outright downpour. He uttered a short curse and evaluated his surroundings - the outer bounds of Camphoreon's suburban area wasn't the best place to try and find shelter that didn't involve trespassing - pinpointed a structure a short ways towards the nearby forest, and made a dash for it in hopes it would be something worthwhile. Those hopes panned out; though it was overgrown, poorly maintained, and in all likelihood perfectly abandoned, the building proved to be a small chapel that would suffice as a means of staying out of the maelstrom until the storm let up. Sighing, Luke advanced into the dim chamber and shed his already soaked jacket, draping it over one of the pews to dry.

Asch glared at the reply. Figures. Fine then. He would just have to-
And then it started to rain. First by a big drop that landed on his nose, causing him to blink in surprise. Then look up was the rain came down in torrents. He was out in the open and just stood there for a few moments as he got drenched.
"..."
That silence didn't last long as he cursed vehemently and made a run for it. But there really wasn't many places to go. So he was just running through the streets in the rain, splashing through puddles that were quickly forming.
"Oh come on!" He shouted in frustration. There had to be -somewhere-. And then he saw it... what looked like an abandoned church. He picked up the pace and sprinted through the overgrown cemetery to the back door, which was locked... or was until he kicked down the door. Which was easy considering it was in disrepair. Getting inside, he came through a small back room through a door that led him to just behind the pulpit.
Asch took a moment to briskly rub at and shake his head to fling as much water out of his hair as he could. "Dammit," he grumbled.

Luke started at the sudden crash from the other end of the building, blinking in a bewilderment that changed into a scowl as recognition set in. Yeah, that pretty much figured. Being in the same place as Asch didn't bind him into speaking with his brother, though, and turned indignantly. It wasn't as though turning his back would hide his identity or anything, but at the very least it could deliver the message that he had been quite serious about not wanting to talk. Unfortunately it wasn't really plausible to just leave; the driving rain obscured even the church's windows, and it wasn't exactly safe to go wandering around in that kind of lightning. Whatever. He'd think about what to do with the situation once it became problematic.

Once he was done shaking his hair, Asch looked up to catch a similar pair of green eyes looking at him. He scowled in return just before Luke turned his back to him. How mature.
"You're such a pain," Asch said as he walked around the pulpit and stepped down from the stage.
"What, are you ignoring me now? Grow up."
They were very obviously stuck here until the storm let up. He wasn't exactly happy about it either, and didn't particularly enjoy talking to his brother. But this had to do with more than just the both of them.

He leaned against the back of one of the pews beside where his jacket was airing, staring at the noisy torrent that beat against the window. He scoffed lightly at Asch's words, shrugging with mild disdain, "Oh, sorry, would insulting you and calling you names be a more mature response?" What ever happened to 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all'?

Asch scowled at Luke's back and folded his arms.
"The hell's your problem?"
He asked but he was pretty sure he knew why. It didn't take a Rocket scientist... especially since the ones he'd met were pretty weird anyway. A loud clap of thunder then sounded overhead, causing the windows to rattle.

He glanced over his shoulder, a sidelong glare that almost could have been called venomous; the gentle, optimistic child he usually characterized was missing from those eyes. "Maybe I'm just tired of you constantly talking to me like I'm garbage. I don't think that's such a problem." He wasn't really in the mood to control his temper for Asch's sake. In fact, he sort of doubted that was a mood that actually existed in any more than a theoretical sense.

Yeah. Sure. Whatever. Asch just returned Luke's glare with his own.
"You -are- garbage. Just like that stupid Flareon of yours. So I'll treat you like it until you prove to me otherwise." That's what dreck meant after all. Idiot.
Was he intentionally trying to push Luke's buttons? Oh hell yes. This was a long time in coming really, but there were other reasons other than his own personal anger issues.

"If anyone here is garbage, I think you're the one that fits the bill," he said, his tone scathing. "A criminal, a member of a criminal organization, and a regular jerk who goes around insulting people because of personal problems from eight years ago." He turned to face Asch, raising his volume slightly and clenching his hands into fists, "Let me tell you something. No matter how much you blame me, it's not my fault you're a horrible person. That's all on you."

Fire flashed in Asch's eyes as he unfolded his arms. Fingers slowly clenched into fists.
"Shut up! You think you're so damn smart? That you've figured me all out?! I've said it before, you don't know anything! All you can see is what's right in front of your eyes! You're so blind and naive it's disgusting! You're nothing but a worthless, pampered, selfish brat!"

He spread his arms entreatingly, speaking as though he was voicing a challenge, "How am I so blind and naive, then? What aren't I seeing? Do you think our parents' decision gives you the right to go around hurting people? How do you think I felt finding out that my own parents have been lying to me as long as I can remember? That I don't even know my own damn name? You see me using that as an excuse to justify running around with a bunch of criminals and being nasty to people?"
This wasn't really the issue; Luke had given up caring what Asch thought of him long ago, given that it was obvious nothing would change his impression, but now that he had started talking his words wouldn't stop. He wasn't interested in a screaming contest in the least, but damned if he was going to put up with someone standing there talking down to him for no reason.

Asch snorted at Luke's gesture.
"This goes far beyond just you and me. Maybe if you took the time to start thinking outside of your own little box, you might figure things out! The world is a lot crueler than you can possibly know!" His voice then dropped to a lower tone. "I'm not even the biggest threat here. You're far too trusting with those around you. If you don't wake up and open your eyes, you'll lose more than just one Pokemon!"
His brother is such an idiot! He hadn't learned a damn thing! Not a thing! How hard was he going to have to beat things over his head until he actually got it!

His tone dropped suddenly to one of incredulity, "You think I don't know that? What the hell do I have to do before you stop talking to me like I'm still not allowed out of the manor? My friends have been hurt and had their most important things stolen over and over. People have died. Do you just think that the fact I haven't been through Rocket hazing or whatever makes me ignorant?" He tensed slightly. "People are cruel. Our parents are cruel. Team Rocket is cruel. I don't have to have someone try to slit my throat to know that. You think you're perfect or something? You're so absorbed in your own little world that you can't understand anyone who sees things differently from you."

"You have no idea how ignorant you are," Asch seethed. He knew things about his brother that he didn't even know. Oh yes, Luke was very ignorant, but he had a feeling he'd be finding out soon enough. The hard way. "And don't come crying to me because I didn't tell you! I don't even know why I'm wasting my breath talking to an idiot like you! I was a fool. To think that you would actually get it. But you're just as weak and pathetic as before! You're too scared to even use that sword! What makes you think you can oppose Team Rocket or protect your friends when you're too scared to even fight! That's why you lost your Pokemon, and at this rate you won't ever get it back!"
So that's how it was. Fine. Let him wallow in his ignorance. Let him think he's got it all figured out. See if he cared, cause he didn't. He didn't need Luke, and Luke obviously didn't need him.
