The members of Graveyard pack were still trying to regain their feet after the recent war with the Pridelands. The Alpha, Masuko, seemed to be everywhere lately. She did her best to pull the pack together. As a slave, Hanja had been getting a lot of conflicting orders lately. Many hyenas were still recovering from war wounds and they were getting restless doing nothing. He helped the best he could, but when one hyena said one thing, and another yelled at him for following those orders... It was confusing to say the least.

At the moment he was trying to track down some kind of food to bring back to his hyena masters. He hunted better when he wasn't trying to do it alone, but it was nice to get away from the main area of the pride for a while. Not that he wished to leave his home, but you know...

Hanja wrinkled his nose as the faint smell of death blew towards him. It was stale, and very faint, but still there. Judging from the size of the bones he had come across a few minutes ago, Hanja guessed that he was somewhere near one of those elephant graveyards. He had never seen one before. Hanja remembered his mother telling him stories about one that she had stumbled across once. She said it was a never ending field of bones and decaying carcasses. The stuff of nightmares. Or, as his father had added at that point, a good place to grab an easy meal if you were hungry enough.
Hanja, however, was not that hungry. More so, he was above picking at rotting flesh from bleached bones. If Hanja had really wanted a meal, he could have asked someone in the gang to go out and get something for him. That's what his gang members were for.
But no, Hanja had not come out here looking for a meal. He had come out for solitude. He loved his family. He loved the assortment of characters that made up his ragtag group. But every once in a while, he liked to be alone. He certainly wasn't thinking deeply or reflecting or any of that wimpy crap. No, he just enjoyed some time when he could get away from some of the idiots that followed him around.
The breeze hit him again, and Hanja froze. On top of the smell of the graveyard was something else, something...alive. It wasn't prey, so, another predator maybe? Hanja crept over a ridge, following the smell. Down below him, sniffing in the dirt, was another Wild Dog. Hanja smirked to himself. "Well, well, what do we have here?" He muttered, trying to decide if the dog was alone or not.

The young wild dog didn't seem to have much luck finding worthwhile prey. He knew from experience that it wasn't smart to get back with something too small, unless you managed to gather many small morsels. Hyenas ate almost anything, but they weren't easily impressed. He found a large beetle, but he couldn't very well bring that back so he ate it instead. He made all kinds of faces while crunching on the bug, but it was protein and it didn't taste that bad. It was just the sensation of the hard exoskeleton and the soft gooey inside that made him grimace.

Next he found some holes in the ground that looked promising, and he stuck his nose into them, one after the other to try to see if any rodents were in. His tail wagged as he walked from entry to entry. His mission to bring home a kill had turned into a fun hyena free game, and he intended to make the most of his alone time.

Hanja chuckled as he watched the other wild dog munch on a bug. The stranger certainly was entertaining to watch. Hanja looked over the immediate area, looking for other dogs or hyenas. The wind wasn't bringing him much besides dead elephant and the other dog's scent, and Hanja determined that the brown dog must be alone. Well then. That presented a whole new world of possibilities. Hanja grinned. He had come out here to relax after all.
As the other dog began shoving his nose down rodent holes, Hanja began his descent down the rocks. It was steeper than Hanja had originally thought, but he managed. Tan tipped paws hit solid earth, and Hanja straightened up, peering at curiously at the other male. He looked liked a curious little puppy, head down a hole and butt up in the air with his tail wagging.
Hanja snorted quietly. He was downwind and behind the other dog. The brown male probably didn't even know he was there. Hanja smiled and chalked it up as part of his awesome stealth skills. "You know," he drawled as the other dog had shoved his head down another hole, "If you keep shoving your head down those holes you may find yourself face to face with a snake instead of rat." Hanja took a few steps closer to the smaller male but kept a safe distance in case he decided to attack.

Hanja removed his head from the promising hole he had been sniffing, and looked around. He would have expected a hyena maybe, but not another wild dog. There were some in the pride, but the young dog was fairly sure that this wasn't one of the other slaves. The slaves usually tried to stick together, so he knew most by looks and scent if not by name. His tail started to wag and he grinned up at the stranger. The hyenas in the elephant graveyard were fairly hostile, but it hadn't rubbed off on Hanja yet.

"You're not a hyena," he said, "I mean... Hi!"

The wild dog was barely able to restrain himself from frowning. He had been enjoying the view. The new view, however, certainly made up for it. It must a crime to have eyes that blue. Hanja was sure that the god of the sky himself would be jealous if he got a look at that dazzling colour. If gods got jealous.
The other dog was rather spunky, Hanja thought. Friendly too, and not at all surprised to see him. Probably belonged to a pack somewhere near here. But what kind of pack lived in a graveyard? The other dog had mentioned Hyenas....
Hanja couldn't imagine living with an entire pack of hyenas. Hanja could tolerate individuals, maybe even grow to like them. But an entire pack? That would be a nightmare.
Hanja chuckled. "Hi yourself." He said with a wink. "What has you out here sticking your head down holes alone?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. At least, Hanja hoped he was alone. While this dog might be friendly, Hanja couldn't be sure his packmates would be. Especially if they were hyenas.

"Oh, I was trying to see if I could bring some food back," Hanja said, not quite understanding the wink. He winked back, just in case. "They get cranky, you know? There was a war and many of the hyenas are still healing up. But to tell you the truth I guess I went out hunting to get away for a while too."

He looked a bit guilty admitting he was sort of taking a hyena break. The hyenas were good to him, sort of, and he wouldn't know how to live without them even if they could be a bit demanding at times. Hanja had been a slave since he was born, and while he hadn't lived here since he was born he was hard wired to serve others. He had yet to figure out that all wild dogs didn't work for larger predators, and he assumed that this dog would know what he meant.

Hanja frowned in confusion. Did this guy work for hyenas? From the few Hanja had in his own gang, he had the impression that most members of the species were xenophobic. He couldn't be enslaved, could he? Hanja entertained the brief possibility of a knight-in-shining-armour act, but quickly decided against it. The dog seemed happy enough. Plus there was no one else out here. If the poor guy really was enslaved, it seemed like it would be easy to take off and run away.
"Uh-huh. Sounds like a tough gig." Hanja ventured carefully. He took a few more steps towards the other dog, almost as if to circle him. Hanja put on his most charming smile and sat down, puffing his chest out. "So, what do those Hyenas call you?" He asked with another wink.

Hanja nodded and smiled, relaxing a little since the other dog didn't judge him for getting fed up with his masters from time to time. He sat down just a heartbeat after the other dog, mirroring his movement. The winking was confusing, and he blinked a few times before answering the question.

"Slow, or stupid, oh... you mean my name," Hanja said with a sheepish grin, "I'm Hanja:"

Hanja burst out laughing, tail thumping on the ground. No way. This guy had the same name as him! He had never heard of that happening to anyone before. "Well how about that, huh?" The wild dog gave the smaller Hanja a large, toothy grin. "My name is Hanja too." Hanja stood up and stepped a little bit closer to the other dog, leering slightly. "Though, if you ask me, sweetheart," Hanja licked his chops. "I think you wear it better."

At first Hanja wondered if the other dog was laughing at him. He joined in, but he laughed without really knowing why he laughed. When the other Hanja told him his name he had to agree that it was a funny coincidence.

"Uh," he said, not quite sure why other-Hanja looked at him like that, "Thanks?"

He had been called many things in his life, but never sweetheart. It was very confusing. Insults were easier to handle, but he wasn't sure what this was meant to be. For lack of a better plan he looked down at his own feet. The other dog was standing very close to him now...

"Ooh look," he said, "Our toes look sort of the same too!"

Hanja quirked an eyebrow. Seriously? This guy was looking at their toes? Had he been dropped on his head as a pup or something? He was either completely clueless or trying to stall. Stalling would be understandable. It wouldn't have been the first time a dog was a little nervous in his most awesome presence, Hanja thought smugly. "Oh, come on now, cutie. You don't really want to look at toes, do you?" Hanja gave the other dog a playful nudge.

"Uh..." he said. The young dog was able to tell that something was going on here, but he wasn't sure what the situation meant. "I don't?"

Hanja was decent at picking up the signs that a hyena wanted something from him. The signs before they started yelling... He was getting something a bit like it from the other Hanja. Not the irritation-part, but the feeling that the other dog wanted him to do something. This was very confusing, so he used the same tactic he employed with hyenas.

"What do I want to do instead?" he asked meekly.

Hanja could have laughed. He did, in fact, chuckle. Little guy was playing coy. Sure, Hanja could work with that. "You know, silly." He circled the other dog, tail flipping up to catch underneath the other male's chin. Hanja grinned wickedly at the dog, cocking his head to the side. After completing a full circle, the bigger male slide next to him, fur brushing on fur and leaning against him slightly. "To have some fun. Have a good time." He answered quietly, giving the other dog another wink.

"Uh..." he said again, "I do?"

The young dog didn't have much experience with flirting at all. There weren't too many wild dogs in the pride for him to have flirted with, and the hyenas seemed to have a very different way of courting. No one had tried to hit on him before and it hadn't been a useful thing to learn for the slave. There's a thin line between innocent and stupid... Hanja knew that something was up, but he didn't know what the other dog wanted and it was making him very uncomfortable.

"There isn't a lot of fun things to do around here," he commented, trying to catch up with the situation.
