It wasn’t often that Venice had the cushy job of choosing stock for her work. It was usually left for those who were hired under the pretences that they had never touched an illegal substance in their lives and would actually handle said job. Venice choose colours that only she liked or items that cost a fortune and would never see the light of day. The shop had learnt a hard lesson…but apparently not well enough since she was doing it all over again in the Destiny City Arts & Crafts Fair. The shop prided itself in seeking out local made items and artist tools to help fill their shelves. Although the majority of their stock came from a huge warehouse it was these little personal touches that stood “A Brush with Class” away from their competitors. Right now the Fair was in full swing and the heart of it stood within Destiny City’s Grand Park. Every little bit of space was taken up with stalls and events, face painting and music. The smell of barbeque was roasting the air around the citizens and it was a day the whole family could enjoy. It was just a shame Venice had to be there.
“Oh my god! A pencil that turns into a breakable wooden fork! Mister I need 20 boxes of these things….what do you mean you only have 5? Ten dollars each…..I will give you three dollars and not a dime more!...What!? FINE! SCREW YOU TOO! You pencil pushing mother forker!…”
If anyone was following Venice’s journey through the stalls they would find that most business talk ended with someone shouting profanities. It wasn’t that she sought out to annoy or abuse the sellers, but she considered herself a wirily sales person when she just…wasn’t. If it wasn’t for knowing some of the sellers personally Venice would have been leaving this event with nothing to show for it (well maybe a black eye or two). As it was she could always depend on Minnie, an eccentric pensioner with a skill for creating and designing ribbons, bows, scarf’s or hair pieces. She sowed on individual details or gathered plain colours and dyed them into something much more beautiful and Venice would always buy anything she might be selling.
Of course there was more than just her at the Fair today…

Aggie was admiring the beautiful ribbons at an elderly ('elderly' because saying 'old' was just impolite, even in her own head) woman's stall. There were so many. Already she'd held (and secretly caressed, but it wasn't creepy OK) nearly half a dozen, each one more beautiful and unique than the next. She was totally in love. So far it was just her at the stall, a fact that she'd enjoyed immensely - after all, then there was no-one else to compete with over one of the hair pieces, score! But alas, it wasn't to last. A well-endowed young woman (Aggie was not the least bit jealous, fyi) had made her way to the stand, and from the way she was eyeing it and the items, the red-head had gotten herself competition. She pushed away the vague urge to grab as many hair pieces as she could and run off before the other girl could get them, because really, thievery wasn't a good answer to the situation. Probably. Instead Aggie gave the young woman a smile and a nod, hoping that was the polite thing to do. Should she engage in conversation? Maybe she should... "Er, hello." Alright! But that was sort of tame, considering. "These ribbons are lovely, don't y-you think?" Still not exactly the best conversation starter, but it would do.

Venice on the other hand would have quite happily stolen the lot of it if she could but sadly this woman knew where she lived. Her eyes scanned the enchanting pieces quickly, no thread left unturned as her black nails touched upon silk and then cotton before inspecting a beautiful flower clip. Ahh now this one she might just keep herself...while paying for it with her boss’s money of course. It took a second for Venice while musing these most dastardly of schemes to realise that the little voice piping up was directed at her and green eyes slowly fell on crystal teal ones.
“Oh, wow… uhh yeah, extremely beautiful.” Venice smiled wolfishly as she stopped messing with a stray ladybug brooch and turned to face the new girl. The stranger’s long hair had been decorated with ribbons which framed her pretty and innocent face. It took but a moment for Venice’s heart to start skipping a beat. It was either a coronary or Venice was a sucker for pretty things! Making a quick recover the raven haired woman leaned onto the table, grinning as she tilted her head. “You know what, if I wasn’t so dam sure I think you have a thing for ribbons.” She nodded to her hair and raised an expectant eyebrow. “But surely I must be wrong, pretty thing like you doesn’t need all that hair bling.” Her accent came out strongly when she purred her words over at Aggie. It was good to know that Venice did this with anyone she considered over the age of 18, it was just a problem that Aggie didn’t know.

Aggie's face went beet red. Was she... was this woman... she was pretty sure this girl was coming onto her! The purr in her words had been beyond suspicious in Aggie's mind; didn't you only make that kind of sound when you were flirting with someone? Then again, the red-head's experiences with all things romantic were pretty minimal. She could be wrong here, and it was possible the elegant young woman just had some sort of, of speech impediment! With that in mind, Aggie staunchly continued on. "Well, uh, I'm not sure anyone ever needs hair stuff, r-really, but it's very nice to have regardless and it is kinda cute?" Her voice was a bit questioning, as if she was starting to doubt in her own explanation in the face of the stylish woman in front of her.

Oh the joys of making someone squirm. Venice lived for it. With a move that was born from being turned down (a lot) Venice pushed her self up from the “come hither” pose to stand before the girl, lips grinning and eyes shining brightly. No longer had the hint of seductive temptress left within them. Venice was a lot of things, a shameless flirt, a hopeless drunk and possibly very easy but she was nothing if not respectful for peoples wishes and she could read the fear in Aggies eyes, the uncertainty of Venice’s purpose. She would never force anyone in her flirting game unless they were an active player. This girl was defiantly not.
“Haha I guess your right, and totally, it would be a crime not to have something so cute without added bits of cute attached to her hair.” Ok maybe she couldn’t stop herself completely.
“My names Venice by the way, am just shopping for some oh so pretty things for my job and stumbling across them too…What brings you to the craft fair hmm? Stocking up on ribbons? I won’t lie, I will mud wrestle you for every one of these babies!” Her hand shot protectively to the table with the hair accessories, half joking half hoping Aggie would agree and start shouting for mud.

Aggie relaxed when the suggestion of flirtation disappeared from the other girl's body language. So she'd been right, it was just her imagination! Beaming from relief, the red-head blithely managed to ignore anything attached to the compliment on her appearance. "Oh, um, t-thanks." The beam tuned down to a shy smile, a bit self-depreciating. "I'm n-not nearly as cute as you, though. And you're so stylish a-and elegant! "I'm Aggie, nice to meet you Venice!" She gave a little wave. "I was just exploring and f-fell over this fair, and I thought 'why not?' And this stall has some really pretty stuff, so..." She glanced at Venice's hand on the table, "I'm not sure I, um, know how to mud wrestle, but OK! I-if you want to mud wrestle, we can mud wrestle!" She looked determined, aware that she was likely going to lose any sort of competition, but not willing to give up the ribbons without a fight. They were really that pretty.

At that sentence and the almost eager eyes of Aggie Venice couldn’t help but bust out laughing. Her sides hurt when she eventually came to a stop and her fingers were quickly wiping away tears from her cheeks. She didn’t mean for it to come across as nasty or cruel but to see a little thing like Aggie become so enthusiastic over a little joke Venice felt mean to tell her that there would be no such thing.
“Hahaha-ha, oh my, my spleen it hurts haha – ha- ohh doll, don’t worry, I wont get you all muddy today. How about I let you choose the nicest ones and if you want to buy them then I won’t begrudge you. Just be glad am not asking for a kiss in return for such an offer.” She winked while pulling a emerald ribbon from the table, it was studded with tiny fake crystals and had swirling blue stitching enticed into it to make each one stand out. Holding it up to Aggies hair she grinned triumphant.
“This one is nothing compared to your eyes but I bet it will look gorgeous in your hair.” It took every ounce of power for Venice not to grab Aggie and start petting her like a cat. She hadn’t felt like this since she 5 and owned dolls. If she had the chance she would plat the hell out of the pinkettes strands!
“So…Aggie, do you live in Destiny City? Colleague? Work? Tell me a little about yourself sweetie while I play dress up with you hair.”

She'd tried not to look confused as Venice laughed, but it was a bit of a lost cause. Had she missed some sort of joke? Mud wrestling was a bit unusual, sure, but she'd really thought the other girl meant it. Well, apparently not. And that was probably for the best, too. "T-that sounds fine." She followed the ribbon that Venice was holding up to her hair with her eyes. "Oh wow, that's pretty!" She hadn't even noticed that ribbon yet - the other girl seemed to have good taste (although Aggie thought that was pretty apparent just from her style). She blushed as Venice complimented her again, fiddling with her fingers and turning her head to take a good look at the ribbon. It was really beautiful, and exquisitely made. "I, I do - I just came back from two years abroad in, um, Denmark. I'm a sophomore, m-majoring in Geography at DCU." She wrinkled her nose. "I don't h-have a job, but I should probably get one, um, soon. What about y-you?"

Venice watched as the young girl continued to fight confusion and possibly sheer terror behind her eyes. Her features pinked slightly as her line of sight fixed on the ribbon Venice held up and the student couldn’t help but laugh a little more. She had been told, many, many times, that her personality was too strong for some un-expecting victims but the problem was that Venice found it just so dam funny! Sensing even a hint of fear or uncertainty and she ran with it. Watching how people tried to suss her out or run off screaming for their innocence was hysterical. Of course she would never purposely scar anyone mentally (she hoped!)
On the mention of Aggies recent absence from Destiny City Venice bypassed her sudden need to lead a trail of ribbons for the girl to follow her home with and instead cocked an eyebrow at the statement.
“Denmark? Seriously! I use to live there when I was like, thirteen! My dad was station in Copenhagen for a little while before we moved over to Odense! This is so freaky! God I can’t even remember any of the language? Oh wait, yes! Haha – PIKSPILLER! Haha I remember that one! Wanker, right? Got to learn that one if your British!” Venice’s excitement was written all over her face as her mind worked out memories of her pervious home. The rockabilly had lived in many towns and cities across the world and she was always sad to leave them when it was time, Denmark was no exception.
“Oh how did you like it? The people were so nice to my family when we first moved there; my little brother hated it though! They cooed over his accent but then he would go off in a strop when no one understood him!” Venice had completely forgotten that Aggie had asked her other questions too but she would answer them all in good time. Now she was really interested in the girl for more than just her cute looks.

Of all the things for Venice to remember... Aggie went tomato red, all the way from her face and down to her chest. "Um, yes, that's right. Wanker." Somehow it sounded more innocuous in English, but maybe that was just her. "You've lived in Britain too?" How did she like Denmark? Definitely a safer topic than Danish cusswords. "I can imagine, I mean, even the Danes who do speak English kinda generally have a w-weird accent? So it's like, the Danish form of Engrish that everyone learns and no-one understands proper English." Although she could be biased. "And it was OK, I mean... there was no weird stuff like here in DC, terrorists and such. Just normal, plain, everyday kind of stuff. I... kind of missed DC to be honest. Minus the terrorists. "But my parents are pretty gung-ho about Danish pride, and I guess it was always a bit much for me." She shrugged. "They're pretty d-disappointed I don't share their love for the country."

Venice performed a victory “Hell yeah” elbow grind as she got the Danish word correct! Swearwords always sounded better in another language and she made a mental note to replace each and every one with a fancy foreign version. It was going to take a while; Venice knew a lot of swear words, some she considered the creator off.
“Yeah I was born there! My name, as you might have guessed, is after the city, my parents happened to do the nasty there and what-do-you-know I was conceived! My mum had a thing about naming her kids after the conception area you see. I have a sister called Sydney and a little brother called Milton Keynes, we travelled a hell of a lot. Been to Denmark, France, Japan and India to name a few. No where longer than a couple of years though and some of them I don’t even remember because I was too young.”
This girl could breath through her ears! Venice was a talking motorboat when needed and it was only because Aggie had mentioned terrorists that she stopped going on about herself (her favourite subject besides drink, drugs, roller derby, rockabilly clothes and sex – so not totally self obsessed) and the lingering statement of her parent’s disapproval.
“Heh, what do they know huh? Denmark was fab but here -” She swept a hand out towards the fair, motioning to the fun and joy people were experiencing. “- only here can people have a terrorist attack every other day and still be laughing. I’ve come to love Destiny City, its exciting. You never know what’s going to happen next and as long as I’ve got pretty girls and gorgeous guys to stare at I am one happy bunny!”
She smiled warmly hoping Aggie could sense that no one could be wrong loving this city even with all its many, many problems. There was life all around them, the building hummed with it; the streets sang, even the sewer system held a tune. There was never a quite moment and that was just how Venice liked it. As long as she was up she wanted the city to be up right along side and Dee Cee had never disappointed.
“Your folks don’t know what their missing! Here - ” Just to quell any upset feelings Venice motioned to the stall owner, paid swiftly for the emerald ribbon and held out her hand so she could take Aggie’s to wrap it around. “A gift from Dee Cee via me, so you can always be happy that you came back.” Cheesy yes but that’s how Venice rolled.

Aggie just blushed horribly as Venice talked about the origin of her name, nodding once in a while to show that she was still listening. But what did you say to something like that? The red-head had a feeling whatever she could reply with would end up being horribly awkward, and for once she managed to hold her peace. "I, uh, guess so. There is a special kind of joy here. I g-guess people have just really learned to appreciate life and what they have here, because of, y'know." She smiled slightly at the thought - it was the sort of thing that made being a senshi worth it. "Though I guess there are a lot of beautiful people here, too. T-they're kind of nice to look at, yeah." And Venice's gesture might have been cheesy, but it was a complete homerun for Aggie. "Y-you, oh, um, wow!" The red-head looked down at the ribbon wrapped around her ahnd and then back up at the other girl. "That's just... wow." She blushed even harder than before, but managed a beaming smile. "T-thank you so much! I'll cherish it forever and ever and clean it so it doesn't get too dirty and I'll wear it all the time!"

Venice grinned with all the poise of a Cheshire cat as she watched Aggie glow with happiness. Her torrent of thanks and cleaning schedules for the ribbon was once again just too cute and Venice wondered if there would ever be a time that this girl could not be sugar and spice and all things nice.
“Haha your welcome, I guess it’s a hidden ploy for you to never forget me too gorgeous!” She winked again as was her manner and before she could jump on the poor dear she made herself turn towards the table. “Edna wrap up the rest, am taking these babies to go!” The woman behind the stall signalled her approval and started packing the ribbons and hair pieces away, the table becoming less cluttered by the second. With an innocent shrug of her shoulders she motioned to Aggie with a pout.
“Told you doll, their all mine…and if you want any more…well” Pulling a business card from between her cleavage (a place that was useful for storing most keys and drinks) she handed it over and pointed to the address. “You just going to have to come find me aren’t you?” With that she blew the stunned girl a sweet scented kiss before waving her goodbyes, picking up the several boxes of produce and leaving behind a very satisfied looking seller and maybe a shell-shocked young girl.

Aggie didn't think she'd ever forget Venice - she was just too, um, wow to forget. Glancing down at the ribbon on her hand, the red-head smiled a bit; it had been fun, even if it'd been a totally weird encounter. And she'd gotten an awesome ribbon out of it to boot! She turned her smile on the woman behind the stall, nodding her thanks before wandering off to see the rest of the fair. Maybe, she thought while fiddling with the business card the other girl had handed her, she ought to go check out this place that Venice worked at. If it was anything like the girl, it ought to be an experience for life. Matisha Fin! Thank you for the RP <33
