Nyota stretched her hind legs and jumped down from her rock as she sniffed the air around her. She left her nest she slept in the night before and headed toward the water source she had been using for a while. She slowly and sleepily walked toward the somewhat clean water. It wasn't the best water around, but it was good for the heat that spread across the land. A cool breeze while she lapped the water quickly, wanting to start hunting right away. She sniffed around, and smelt small prey close by, she much preffered small preey rather then larger game, she could bring down a waterbuck, but whenever she approached one, she was never hungry, and always just wanted small talk.

She walked slowly towards the tall grass, and dropped into the a hunting position, and caught sight of a mouse, she smelt it, it smelt like it was healthy, but it caught her scent, and ran away once she pounced, she walked away in utter shame, why did everything smell her first? maybe she needed a swim...

Yoki had wandered her way through the rouge lands for a while, in hopes of finding the "Heyena haven" that she had heard rummers of. She now only wished to find food, water, and perhaps a little company. She preferred to be alone most of the time, but spending so many long hours traveling on just rumors made her long for company of any kind.
About that time Yoki heard a rustling in the nearby tall grass. Finally! Something to eat, even if it is small! she thought to herself before jumping carelessly on the small creature moving in the grass. For a moment the mouse was caught between her paws, and Yoki thought she had won, but the small mouse slipped between the break bewtwern her two front paws and scurried off in the direction it had come from. "Hey! Get back here!" she yellped as she took off after the mouse.
After a few minutes of chasing the small creature the female hyena spotted something bigger up a head. In a matter of moments Yoki found herself only a few feet away from what she could now see was a lion. Yoki quickly skidded to a stop as she almost collided with the lion, she was just in time to prevent a collision, but the mouse scurried away. "Aw man..." the hyena said as she watched the small animal dissapear. Yoki took a few steps back from the lion "Sorry 'bout that." she said with a respectful bow of her head "I'm Yoki, and you would be?" Yoki's voice was filled with energy and it was easy to tell that she was happy to see someone else after so long of walking without a companion.

Nyota saw this hyena skid to a halt as she chased the mouse Nyota had almost caught. She was a little suprised, this looked like a young hyena, she was wandering all by herself? maybe she was looking for her, hyenas weren't always safe in the rouge lands. "im Nyota" she said with her usual charm. She nodded her head in the direction of the water hole, motioning her to follow. "what are you doing out here by yourself? are you hungry?" she could tell she was maybe no the best of hunters, so she wanted to help her out, Nyota herself was very hungry, so she would like to get herself and this hyena food.

she sat waiting for Yoki to follow her, and watched intently for some prey while waiting, and luckily caught sight of a couple desert voles, and pounced, happily catching them and picking them up in her mouth. she padded up to the hyena and placed it by her paws. she lied down and chewed on it, enjoying it thoroughly. she hoped the hyena wasn't picky, and enjoyed the small snack Nyota had come across, she smiled at her and continued gnawing on the desert vole

Yoki smiled and followed the lion "Nice to meet you Nyota I'm-oh wait, I already said that." She laughed at her own stupidity, then was quiet as Yoki spotted the voles, and quickly jumped after a smallish one, managing to catch it. She picked up the vole and sat next to Nyota to eat, most would have just shared the lion's catch but Yoki didn't want to be a burden on Nyota. She nudged the vole back to the lion "You caught it, it's your right to eat it." the hyena said with a smile before getting a drink and comming back to eat her catch.
Yoki quietly ate for a few minutes then remembered to answer the lion's questions. "Oh! Um... I'm traveling to my new clan." Yoki made sure not to mention that she had no idea where the clan was, I got a little tired of my old one. What about you? What brings you this far out into unclaimed lands?" Yoki pushed the lion's extra vole to words Nyota once more, hoping she would take it.

"im just a rouge, wandering, really, i have a small place i like to call home, no one ever claims it while im gone, but i usually travel far from i, then go back in a day or two." she was happy to eat the vole, as she was still hngry and the one she had was smaller. Yoki was generous she gave her that, but was still happy to share with her. "are you still hungry? i have some other food that i do not want, but would be happy to give to you, i prefer hunting everyday." she smiled lightly and walked toward her small nesting area, it was a small walk, but that gave them time to chat, she wasn't that big of a chatterbox, but she did like to speak to the random traveler every one in a while.

A bird flew overhead and Nyota watched it, chased after it, and batted around in the air, she jumped up swiftly and caught it. she wanted to brig something back to her nesting place, she didn't want t call it her den, not yet, it wasn't lived in enough, and she wanted to put her paw print in it with berry juice, it was a sign of marking territory in her family, and she wanted to do that with some place, but she wasn't sure if she would with her current nesting place. She lapped up the water that had cooled because of the nice breeze that had spread across the rouge lands.

Yoki smiled, she had been traveling for quite a while and had not yet come across any rouges, only gaurds that she had to slip by when she stumbled into a pride's lands. "Well rouge or not it is an honor to meet you. I haven't really been able to talk to anyone since I set out to find this clan I've heard so much about." She stated with a smile and a respectful bow of her head, Yoki respected everyone as equals, unless she was given reason to dislike them, rouge or not the lioness could have been an escaped slave and Yoki would still treat her like she would royalty.
"I don't want to take your food, I just stumbled upon you, I didn't come to you for charity." She let out a laugh before continuing with her statement "Give it to someone who needs it, even the buzzards need it more than I do.I may not seem it, but when I need it I'm not that bad of a hunter. " She was now smiling and following the rogue.
When they reached the water Yoki took a drink then gave Nyota another bow "I'm sorry for being such a bother. I'm sure you had plans for the day before I disturbed you..." She mumbled appologeticly, feeling sorry, and a bit guilty for probably disturbing the lioness' plans for the day.

she thought back to when she had awoken in the morning, she planned to hunt, then perhaps bring something back to her nesting place. she had done what she needed to do for the day, she wanted this hyena to rest in the safety of Nyota`s partial den. she could call it a den know, she didn`t need to follow the familys customs all the time, she was on her own now, she could make her own beleifs, it was her den, and she wanted this hyena to have full strenght, she was too friedly to let her go without more food, and rest.

``come by my den, i will give you some more food, and let you rest, i really dont mind, you will need it to continue your search, and the prey has been scarce from the heat.`` she hoped the hyena would take her up on her offer, and stay with her, sure she might have been a small distraction from the days work, but it didn`t matter, she would tske some care of this hyena, and carry on with her daily life. she smiled lightly at the thought, and continued to speak with Yoki.

``i am glad you are honered to meet me, say, wats the name of the clan you are looking for, i might be able to point you in the right direction.`` she might be able to indeed, for she knew a fair bitof most clans and prides that claimed parts of the rouge lands, there were many, and she could be looking for any of them, but Nyota really hoped she knew something of the one Yoki was looking for. she kept wondering as she walked towards her den.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 07, 2012 10:35 pm

Yoki smiled at the lioness' second statement but felt a little guilty about the first. She didn't want to burden Nyota by staying, yet she didn't want to offend her by declining her offer. She pondered over her chooses for a few minutes before answering "Hmmmmmm... I-I guess it would be ok of I stayed a little while... Only if I won't be in your way at all I really hate to be a burden... If I stay I'll only stay 'till night fall at the latest, that way I can start walking again when it is cool out." The hyena was glad she had made a new friend, and did not want to bother her by any means.
Yoki continued to walk with the lion in silence, since she had managed to forget the lioness' other statement for a little while. "Oh!" the female hyena exclaimed as she finally remembered what else the rogue had said. "It is a clan that consists mainly of female hyenas with only a few males um... Nguvu Utawala, I think is what it is called... Ya, I think that's it. Have you ever heard of it?" the energetic canine asked, hopeful that her journey may bare fruits of her labor quicker than she expected.

Yoki smiled as she noted, already, the change in temperature that was the warning sign that night would fall in about three hours. Yoki didn't mind this at all, she was eager to stop bugging the orange rogue and allowing her to get on with her life. She felt like such a burden hanging around her when she probably had better things to do then talk to a hyena who was just passing through and happened to stumble upon her.

she didn't know much of the clan, other then it was full of females, and with some males, and all you had to do was ask to get in "im not sure where it is, sadly, but i do know some other things about it, but that may not help you much." she was glad she hadn't declined her offer to stay, the poor girl didn't want to pester but Nyota really didn't mind, she was still young, and maybe that was just the way she was raised. she shrugged at her own thoughts, and headed inside her den. she nodded her head toward the pile of meat, and threw the bird on top, making it a motion for them to eat.

"please, eat, you will need your strength, i will get you some water to wash it down." she smiled lightly and walked away toward the small water hole just outside the den, she could have easily gotten it herself, but she wanted to show Yoki her hospitality, she liked having visitors every once in a while, it was nice to have some one to talk with, even if she was a little distraction from the days work.

she quickly folded a leaf into a small cup, and headed to the small water hole that was not to far, she had good balance, so she could run back to the den with ease. it took her no more then two minutes to get back, she placed the cup in front of Yoki and moved her toward the small pile of meat, trying to get her to eat.

she thought she might share her small knowledge of the clan with her, seeing as she knew a few things of it. well, from what i have heard, you need to have permission to breed, you an just ask to join and they will usally happily accept. like you said, its mostly female with a few males included." she hoped this helped even in the smallest ways, she would think some of it would, but she was sad she didn't know where it was.

Yoki smiled lightly, any more information she could get on the clan would be useful since she knew very little about their customs. "Thank you very much, any more information I can get on them will be useful. I kind of came out here on a whim, I only have a little information on them, but I want to join another clan so it sounded fitting." The hyena laughed a little "I have to admit, I am a little ashamed for leaving my old clan behind me for just rumors I have heard. Regardless, I wouldn't take it back or go back to my old clan if I had a choose to." Yoki then followed Nyota inside the den, noting the lion's wish for her to eat she walked over to the food pile and picked out a small bird to eat as she did not want to eat too much of her new friend's food.

Yoki smiled once more at her friend "Are you sure? I don't want to eat all your food if you need it." she was about to say that she didn't need a drink and that Nyota didn't need to worry about her, but the lioness was already gone. "Well, I guess there is no chance in keeping her from getting water then I guess..." Yoki mumbled out loud to herself in her friend's momentary absence.

When Nyota got back the Hyena smiled and gave her a thankful bow "Thank you very much, but I have done nothing to deserve your kindness. Is there anything I can do to thank you for your wonderful hospitality my friend?" Yoki figured she should ask noe so that Nyota had time to think it over before Yoki had to leave.

Yoki smiled brightly at the lioness' last stament, as she had not heard the part about the breeding restrictions and knew it could end up being very useful indeed. "Thank you very much, as I said earlier, I don't know much so any information I get is very useful" The hyena bowed her head yet again in thanks "Thank you very much." Yoki then went back to eating on the small bird she had picked from the pile, eating slowly in hopes that the rogue would think that she was eating more than she really was.

Nyota hoped her friend wasn't overwhelmed with the kindness Nyota had shown.maybe she was afraid of her st first, and still is, hyenas were picked on alot in times of scarce prey. just when she thought that thought, a rain started t roar, and she was excited for the next day, as the would be many mice and other delicious prey wandering the tall grasses. she didn't want Yoki walking in the rain, she could get sick, and what if she never found the clan? then where would she be? no lion would ever be as nice as Nyota was to hyena, she saw alot trying to steal prey, and i didn't always end pretty. She smiled, shaking the thought from her head. "stay here for the night? i don't want you getting sick in the rain, unless you can handle it?" Nyota knew she had done more then enough for her, but she was still a little concerned.

``i know you have done nothing in return for me, and that i have done more then enough, but i have always been kind, i don't care who i come across, im even nice to waterbucks, sure i could bring on down, but i never do. i even accept hybrids, they are wonderful company" she chuckled at this, she only met one briefly, but was hoping she would meet more in the near future.

the rain had a nice hum in the den, it was warm too, and Nyota enjoyed it, for being cold and wet at the exact same time was no fun at all. she plucked a mouse from the pile of kill she had brought home from yesterday. there was only one bird left, she would eat it for dinner tomorrow. it would be even better by then, she always thought bird meat was better a few days after it had een killed. she then remembered she forgot to give thanks for her new friend and prey she found today, it didn`t matter now though, as there was rain, and she only did that in times of scarce prey.

Yoki looked out the enterence of the cave for a moment, almost appearing to be in a momentary trance at first. Finally Yoki shook her head violently, pulling herself out of her momentary trance. The hyena then thought for a few minutes over the lioness' words "Hmmmm... I. suppose... If I'm not a bother would it be alright with you if I stayed 'till the storm passes? I'm quiet resistant to the rain, but if I take too long to find where I am going I might get sick." she said and bowed, yet again, to the lioness "If that is alright with you." The hyena noted that the clouds were now covering a starry night sky, the light from the full moon shining through a thin spot in the distant clouds. Hm... Darn rain, I would have been gone and out of this lioness' fur by now if you hadn't come along. the hyena thought to herself Perhaps I should just leave and tough it out... Hm... I guess it is up to Nyota Yoki was afraid she was putting her new friend out, but hoped Nyota would tell her if she wanted her to leave.

Yoki thought over what the rogue said for a few minutes, attempting to think of a way she could repay the lioness for her grand hospitality. After many minutes of silence the hyena finally thought of something. "Oh! Hey, I have an idea, do you know how to fish? My old pack wasn't that big on fishing since there wasn't much water there but I'm sure there are a few fish in your watering hole, and I'm not that bad at fishing so I can catch you some fish." Yoki paused to think for a moment, knowing there was more that she was going to say. "Oh ya!" she finally remembered the rest of what she was going to say "Or perhaps I can teach you how to fish if I stop by or something again." Yoki was now smiling happily in the hopes of possibly being able to pay her friend back for her kindness.

The hyena then looked outside the den again, watching as the rain fell outside and listened to it hit the ground. Yoki really liked the rain, when she didn't have to worry about getting a cold that is. When she was younger Yoki played in the rain all the time, but that was when she had a den to block her from the rain once she was done playing. Yoki silently wished she would find the clan she was looking for soon, she longed to belong to a family again. Even if the title of family wasn't literally blood related.

Nyota was glad she accepted to stay, she was really no bother, Nyota didn't want to hunt in the rain, she just wanted her and Yoki to be safe from sickness until the rain passed. " you are no bother, and im not doing anything until morning, who wants to hunt in the rain." she lied down in the den, and finished off her mouse, looking at the rain, and beginning to dose off into the abyss of sleep. she wanted to stay up until she was sure Yoki was dosing off too, she looked tired though, and if she saw Nyota sleeping, she would surely do the same.

she started to dose off again, but shook the sleep from her head, it would be nice, listening to the rain patter on the ground while sleeping, it was already trying to hum her into a deep sleep, and with that, she started to dose off again, standing up this time, making the sudden sleep rush out of her body, she was thinking about Yoki's offer to teach her how to fish, she had really always wanted to know, she saw many fish in the water holes she came across.

"it would be nice to know how to fish, i came across many fish, and it was always when i couldn't find prey." she smiled lightly and lied down again, licking her paws and putting them to her face, cleaning herself and removing the bits of dirt clinging to her fur, she needed to go for a swim, and the next day seemed perfect to do so. she licked her chest while waiting for Yoki to respond.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 08, 2012 9:21 pm

Yoki was glad she wouldn't be bugging the rogue too much, and even happier when she heard the lion say she didn't know how to fish. "Yay! I guess I'll just stay and leave after we go fishing." The hyena felt like she was still being a burden, but she would hopefully get to make up for it. The hyena looked out side again, the rain already getting worse and the moon now barely visible.

Yoki saw a soaking wet bird land inside the den just inside the enterence Sorry birdy, it was a big mistake landing here for refuge. Yoki thought before jumping on the avian. It didn't take much for Yoki to break it's neck, especially since it's feathers were too wet for it to fly away. Yoki picked the bird up and placed it on top of Nyota's meat pile. As she did so she noticed Nyota begin to doze off, then wake herself up again once more. Yoki then desided that she should go to sleep so Nyota could sleep well without worrying about her.

Yoki laid down parallel to Nyota and gave the lioness a smile "Well, it seems it is time for me to go to sleep, as I am already going in and out of consciousness." She lied, hoping to justify her reasoning more. "You should get some rest to my friend." Yoki said and curled up to go to sleep. She only let a light blanket of sleep over come her, that way of Nyota spoke again Yoki would be able to wake up quickly.

Nyota was already getting into her usual haze of deep sleep when Yoki finally laid down parallel to her, she felt a bit bad for the bird, but it was ok, she was just trying to help. she did a small pray in her head for the birds spirit to forgive them, as she was feeling even worse now. Nyota didn't eat birds that much, but it was fine, it was all good. she needed sleep now more then anything. she was happy she was finally sleeping. she never started to dream, just a big wave a sleep overcame her and she lost her conciousness.
