Jericho was wide-awake and ready to work. He had left his favorite class' homework for last so that he could take as long as he liked and chart the stars while admiring them in their natural beauty. Of course it only helped that he was most active at night and that this particular assignment was most appropriate for that time.

He set up his telescope outside on one of the castle balconies, hoping to get a different angle than he'd managed earlier that evening. It was hard work keeping track of all the celestial bodies, particularly as the Earth spun to face various directions and the sky appeared to move. However, nothing was more calming or relaxing an activity to Jeri than this.

He supposed sleeping and napping might have been, but as those didn't really require one to be active, he didn't necessarily count them as activities. He hoped he hadn't woke anyone else up as he'd left the Hufflepuff Common Room that night. He wondered how many other students in the school preferred to work nocturnally as he did rather than diurnally.

Destiny stretched humming to herself, it was a gorgeous evening to be out watching the stars from her balcony. She tooks a breath in and blew it out, she hadn't made any new friends let alone met someone she liked, she sighs a bit wishing she would make some new friends it seemed hard to get through school without any. She propped her elbows on the balcony railing. The light evening breeze blowing her hair a bit.

She normally would be asleep at this time but she didn't feel like it for the time being. She hummed lightly to herself and stared up at the stars in the evening and seeing what constellations she could identify.

Upon setting up his telescope, Jeri thought he heard a sigh and looked up, curious. He hadn't realized there was a girl nearby. Had he woken someone up after all? No, that was silly; she was a girl and even if she was in his house, girl dorms were separate from the boys' same as any other houses'.

Her complexion was an exotic caramel color and her eyes a lovely sea green. Both those eyes and soft waves of light, silvery locks contrasted prettily against her darker skin. Jericho could not make out any color, being monochromatically colorblind, but even he could tell her appearance was unique. Up until now he hadn't ever met someone with hair quite as light as his.

He wondered what house she was from, though it would have been rude to ask. Instead, he settled with asking another question, hopefully more innocent-sounding than the other. "'Evening," he began, speaking softly with minimal words. "Like stars...?" Why else would she be up so late?

He didn't see any paperwork with her so he doubted she was setting up to do homework like he was. Still, maybe she'd gotten a different assignment, or maybe she just couldn't sleep. Or was it possible she liked the view of the night sky as much as he did...?

Destiny blinked as she heard a voice nearby, she lightly turned to face the direction it was coming from. She was pretty sure the girls and boys dorm were separated but, it seemed the voice seemed closer. She tilted her head to the side curious to know which house the boy was from.

From what she could tell, the boy was a pale, but not white. She continued to study his features, he had a afro of ivory hair and his eyes were a gray. He looked rather muscular and that told her he was into the athletics, but she wasn't all too sure. She had decided if she actually was closer to him she could ask.

Her curiosity still wavered and she still was curious to know which house he was from. She thought for a moment before answering "evening..and yes I do like the stars" she said with a light smile, though she frowned a bit, she didn't have a telescope to take a closer look at groupings of stars, she relied on the naked eye. Or was she that good at identifying them?

Jeri hesitated, feeling a little awkward. He wasn't sure how to interact with others very well. That was nice she liked stars, but he couldn't think of anyone who didn't. "It's late," he mentioned subtly, wondering if that would prompt her to say why she was awake. "Don't sleep?"

At the girl's smile, he felt slightly reassured that she wasn't mad at him for disturbing her quiet star-gazing. However, when a small frown stole the smile from her lips, Jeri grew distraught again. Was it something he'd said?

Glancing at his telescope, he wondered if the girl knew how to use it or wanted to. He'd brought it from home since it had been in his family a while, so it was somewhat old and well-used, but of good quality and still in pretty good shape for its usage. Stepping aside, he gestured to the lens, offering her a chance to use it. "Here." He still had to set out his papers and stuff to do his charting anyway.

Destiny thought before answering his question "true..it is late" she said before continuing "well, I do..I just don't feel like it just yet, you can never stop staring at the stars, because they are so bright and calming" she finished. She could tell he was a boy of minimal socializing. She would try to make that improve. But not by force.

She was silent for a bit before piping up again "a boy of few words..aren't you" she said with a light smile. Some had a lot of words to say but others, in the boy's case was of few words. She had nothing against those who preferred to talk less.

She smiled a bit more before she walked up to the telescope lens "thanks" she said before looking through the lens and shifting angles to see what stars she would see. Stargazing was a lot more fun and easier when you had a telescope handy, she would need to think about saving up and investing in one herself.

The boy nodded. He himself personally preferred to gaze at the moon over the stars, but he admired them in their own way. Besides, there was no moon that night, which was a shame, but also made his task of charting stars a lot easier. There was no moonlight to outshine their own feeble twinkling, so he didn't have to worry so much about missing them.

When she suggested her assumption that he spoke very little, his pale face darkened a bit in a faint, embarrassed blush and he scratched his unruly hair, glancing away self-consciously. He wondered if she thought that was a good or bad thing, but he dared not ask. It was just how he was; he had his own logic behind reserving his words.

With an obliging nod and another small smile, he stood apart as he charted out a few of the most notable stars as reference points for the others. Out the corner of his gray eyes, however, he watched Destiny peer through the telescope, thinking that her own, silvery hair seemed to match the light of the stars very nicely.

Destiny hummed quietly to herself as she gazed through her telescope, that was something she would add to her birthday wish list but she would never ask her friends to buy it, maybe she can ask her parents for one. She smiled lightly as she gazed through the telescope at the twinkling stars.

Mentally naming constellations she saw within the telescope's range, if she found one that she wasn't sure about she would make a little frown but then she would move on and decide to name them when their appropriate names came to mind.

Jericho hovered over his work by the dim starlight and what little wand light he allowed himself to use. He scanned over the list of constellations he was supposed to chart and considered which ones were most visible to the naked eye as opposed to those that were farther away and thus better viewed through the telescope.

Tapping his wand thoughtfully against his chin, he craned his neck backwards to stare up. "Got a favorite?" he asked Destiny off-handedly. "Constellation," he clarified quickly, realizing his question might have sounded a little random. "Or star."
