Eleventh Division Captain's Office

___About:
This is the office of the eleventh division captain. The room is slightly smaller than the average captain's office, with just enough room for five to seven people to stand or sit comfortably. Against a wall to the right of the door is a desk, with stacks of papers and a pen and inkwell for writing. The desk is short enough that a chair is not necessary--rather, a small seat cushion is just in front of the desk which can be used for sitting at the desk. There is not much else notable around, save a sword stand at the far end of the room with two unnamed "ornamental" katanas.

The Eleventh Division Captain can often be found here either in a daze or doing work. In either case, she will have a rather extreme reaction to sudden interruptions.

___Rules:
• Show some respect
• Knock before entering
• If captain not here, address Vice-captain(s)

Ten o'clock in the morning. By this time, many members of other squads might be up and training or working, however the 11th Division Headquarters was as silent as it had been five hours ago. Undoubtedly, most of the squad had been up late drinking again and were thus sleeping in this morning. For many, it might be rather frustrating to have such a laid back squad. True, the young Kenpachi tried to reset the expectations of her men, however her popularity was so low that doing so would ruin any hope for her eventually gaining their favor. "I wonder if I'll ever be as respected as he was..." Eunae wondered aloud, briefly removing her pen from her mouth. Her voice was soft and musical, just high-pitched enough to be not quite obnoxious yet. She was seated behind her desk, with her arms folded lazily on its surface. There were papers spread out in front of her, though her mind was far away from the work. She was chewing on her pen--not enough to create teeth marks, but just as much as one would while not particularly thinking about it. From being in the 11th Division prior to killing her Captain, Eunae knew firsthand how much the men respected him. Maybe it was because she had ended his life, but they just didn't seem to respect or like her very much. With this realization, Eunae frowned a bit. "He killed his predecessor, too... he must have had some of the same problems." Eunae gave a mildly dramatic sigh and chewed absentmindedly on the pen again. "If only he were still alive so I could ask him how he gained their respect!"

She shifted to be sitting criss-cross on her seat cushion and realized that the tip of the pen hanging from her mouth was dripping ink onto the paperwork. "Oh no!" The exasperated cry escaped her lips. Eunae now removed the pen from her mouth and gently dipped it into the inkwell to assess the damage done to the papers. It was the usual, periodic busywork papers, but nonetheless Eunae was trying to be conscientious as a Captain. Many of her predecessors never even bothered, or would force the work onto their Vice-Captains. In this way among many others, Eunae was quite unlike any other Kenpachis. "I'll have to get some new papers from the first division..." She squirmed uncomfortably again. "Squeee! But they're so intimidating about things like this!" The young Kenpachi stared off sadly. Many of her predecessors just didn't care, but the first division's officers could actually get quite nit-picky about turning paperwork in on time. Up until now, Eunae had not encountered their wrath more than a few times, but that was enough. Before getting rid of the papers, Eunae checked each one. The ink had bled all the way through the pages. Carefully, Eunae patted the papers into a neat pile to be thrown away. She sighed gently. "If only I could either do paperwork right or get my squad's approval... I just need one thing to go right." Then, Eunae took a deep breath and smiled a little. "The air is fresh," she remarked, "Maybe this season will bring about change!"

Virgo, unlike many was not the party type. He didn't go out, hang out, or drink out. Social gathers often gave him anxiety. Not something people liked. Crowds were just to much for him, in fact he hated them. To much noise. So Virgo pretty much avoided them at all costs, always refusing invitations from others. Nope, Virgo was the type who preferred solitary. He was fine with spending his time alone and in silence. It was more comforting that way. He was a loner and that was no secret. Though it never stopped people from trying. So rather then spending his time with others Virgo was like always alone, working. Which is why he had been making his way to his Captain's office. Stacks of papers in hand, including a notebook and marker. Virgo didn't speak. So he used his notebooks as a way to communicate verbally when needed. By this time Virgo had already completed his work. Without distraction he worked methodically. With it done he had nothing left but to hand his work in so his Captain could review it. Plus Virgo wanted to make sure she herself was doing and completing her own work. Virgo didn't need to be talked to about his duty as a Vice-Captain. Every time his Captain missed deadlines, she wasn't the only one to get in trouble. Virgo liked conflict but hated confrontation. So he would always keep an eye on his Captain's work habits. Approaching the door to her office her knocked, three times exact. Stepping back from the door he waited for a response from his Captain allowing him to enter.

Virgo knew his Captain was in her office. He had heard her speak to herself through the wooden walls. Though faint it was still audible. Unlike Virgo Eunae made no effort to block in or out sound. Virgo himself made it a priority. Hopefully his Captain would be able to sense his presence and know it was him outside her door. If she asked who it was Virgo wouldn't be able to answer. He didn't speak, though he could, he simply wouldn't.

In the midst of her ruminating her purpose as a Captain, Eunae could sense her Vice-Captain just outside the door. This one was quiet, and the young Kenpachi could tell he was just standing outside the door. Like her, his strength had caught the attention of her predecessor. The previous Kenpachi had a knack for picking out strong people, it seemed. However, the difference between the two was that he had never made as big a power-play as Eunae had, else their positions might have been switched. Eunae kept him as her Vice-Captain because... well, because she didn't want to dare doing something else that would upset the balance of the squad. Her presence did enough of that already. It was a tough position to be in, as Eunae had summarized so aptly in her earlier speech. Virgo Angelus was his name. Not very talkative, but she knew him well. She wanted to launch into another such speech at the thought, about why he had stuck around at all; did he respect her, or could he just not be bothered to switch squads or change his position? There was no way to know for sure. Out of habit she opened her mouth, then shut it promptly.

Hastily, she began organizing her office, though it was already quite organized. Literally, the young Kenpachi patted papers already in neat stacks and straightened pens that were already straightened on her desktop. Then, she knelt formally on the cushion behind her desk while noting the need to get an actual chair so as to not be so hard on her knees. The Vice-Captain was still approaching, then suddenly there were a few knocks on the door. Despite knowing that someone was coming, Eunae still let out a high-pitched squeak of surprise. For a moment, Eunae debated what would be appropriate: she could either call to have him come in or open the door herself. The latter might make her seem more respectable, however the former would be more polite. Finally, she decided to stand and approach the door. She wasn't wearing her sandals and her Captain's haori was lying folded next to where she was working. Carefully, she slid open the door and nodded at her Vice-Captain. "Virgo! You can come in." Before returning to her desk, she eyed Virgo's stack of papers briefly. Then, she sat criss-cross on the cushion behind her desk. "Please, sit down," the young Kenpachi gestured towards a cushion on the opposite side of the desk. "Would you like a cup of tea?"

Aerik was bored, and he had heard there was another Kenpachi in the position. Naturally, He enjoyed "Screwing" with the Newbie Kenpachi. Despite the fact that they were always strong Rivals. Aerik Was fast, silent, and stealthy. He used his Captain's Haori to hide his Reiatsu with the approaching Lieutenant, and he hid outside the office, Completely invisible inside a Shadow. It was a funny thought, that might be able to sneak up on the Kenpachi. He could remain hidden for a short time, perhaps, but eventually, even a weaker captain would sense the "Disturbance." and move to investigate. Aerik didn't feel like a Captain. Not with his Haori, which masked a good 95% of his Reiatsu, and he attempted to hide the last 5%. Until he would be found, He used a trick he learned when he was still a 3rd seat. The Ability to "Throw" his voice. He started squeaking, like a mouse. And he made his voice echo from inside the room.

There was a little shock, Virgo was surprised to see his Captain, his new one at that, open the door and great him. Normally they would just call for him to enter rather then greet him at the door. This young woman was curious. She seemed the type who over thought everything. Virgo didn't really know if that was a good or bad thing. As per request Virgo did as she said. He entered her office, shifting the stacks of paper in his hands. Following the young Captain to her desk Virgo promptly placed the papers down in a neat stack. From the top of the stack he took back his notebook. Opening up to one of the pages he turned it towards her. It spelled out, "I am turning in my reports." Though he was offered a seat, Virgo didn't take her up on it. Rather he remained standing. This wasn't out of disrespect just habit. Flipping the notebook around he began to scribble down on a blank page after having clicked open his pen. Finishing he turned the book around for her to read. It read, "No thank you. I'm fine." While standing there Virgo took the time to look around, making sure she was doing her work. It would cause him trouble if she slacked off. He liked his last Captain, but hated his work habits. Normally Virgo would be the one filling out his Captain's reports. It wasn't so much a bad thing, Virgo liked doing work. Kept him from getting bored. It was just Virgo's work habit was flawless. Without distraction he worked diligently. He just wanted to make sure his new Captain did the same, or at least tried. Suddenly an odd sound rang through the office. It was something compared to that of a mouse. However something about it was off. Virgo hadn't noticed any vermin. Shrugging it off he decided to not do anything about it and simply observe what his new Captain would do.

There was... that. In her usual thoughtlessness, Eunae had almost forgotten that Virgo did not ever talk. There was just... that notebook... Not to mention the fact that he was writing in English, as would be expected of someone of Virgo's descent. She had completely forgotten that he was Irish, and had gone on sputtering to him in Japanese like an idiot! Eunae was no idiot: she was fluent in three languages, in fact. It just so happened that one of those languages was not English. It had never been super important for her to learn, and she knew enough to get by. The usual "Where is the nearest petroleum station?" sort of stuff. She could figure out the first note pretty clearly by his placing of the papers on the desk. Then, on the second note, she could understand "no" enough to make her heart sink a bit. Regardless, she stood and looked around a bit for her teapot, finding it a little ways away near a small pile of her personal items with a burner nearby. "I don't have a match..." the young Kenpachi muttered to herself in the typical Japanese standard of most of the Gotei 13. She then turned to Virgo, "Sit," she commanded in English.

Then, Eunae realized that he had understood what she had said to him earlier, thus he clearly understood the Japanese used by most of the Shinigami. Instantly, her face flushed embarrassment. "Squeeee! I'm sorry, sorry!" she apologized for seemingly no reason in Japanese. "Please stay a moment, Virgo? I haven't really sat down and had a conversation with you, and you're my Vice-Captain!" Then, she looked from the notepad and back to her Vice-Captain. "Eep! Well, I guess you don't really talk..." she mumbled and bit her lip. "You wouldn't happen to have a match? I really would like a cup of tea. You see, for all the tough guy the Captain was he kept this tea garden with all sorts of teas! I found this type that I've never tried before, but it smells wonderful. I bet he wouldn't mind, either... he would have pretended it wasn't his or something, or maybe get into one of those excited moods like he always did about fighting and stuff." Eunae knew she was talking too much, and realized it as the words poured from her mouth. Since Virgo did not talk, some inert part of her felt like she needed to do all the talking for both of them, if while still trying to interact with her Vice-Captain. Furthermore, something was kind of off. She was too distracted right now to realize anything was unusual, or even pay much mind to it.

If there was some semblance of recognition from the Kenpachi that Aerik was there, she gave none. But Aerik would not give up. Pranking the new Kenpachi was always fun for Aerik, as he had done with a few before. Their Squads were essentially rivals. So Aerik felt like getting the jump on the Captain. He knew that this would be a fun fight, as that is what it would become. Aerik took a deep breathe, and started to count. On three, he would be gone from his current spot, and through the door, bringing Sono Tenka Anei down on the Kenpachi from above, but feinting, and coming in from the left. He ran the scenario, along with hundreds of different outcomes through his mind. his Technique had to be perfect. If it was, the Young Lieutenant in the office wouldn't even see Aerik until he came into contact with the Kenpachi. Aerik started to count. One. He Inhaled deeply. Two. He Exhaled. Three. And he jumped into action.

It wasn't as though Eunae was physically unable to match the second division captain, it was just the fact that his attack was entirely unexpected. Leave any sort of feints out, he would have successfully startled the young Kenpachi had he only snuck up behind her and said "boo." But no, for some reason that a**hole decided to attack her. She didn't react, she couldn't react, but to stagger back once the Kenpachi lunged at her. The young Kenpachi was about to fall, but she caught herself on her desktop. When the second division captain came up on her left, Eunae's heart practically skipped a beat. She fell backwards, knocking over her inkwell to spill all over not only her own paperwork, but also that which her vice-captain had just turned in. Before she could do anything, the ink spread over the pages and bled entirely through the stack, thereby ruining all the hours of work that both Eunae and Virgo had done. Tears welled in her eyes, bringing her to sharply look away from the others in the room. Instead of being angry, however, Eunae could only feel ashamed and upset that she had let herself get so startled that she would ruin that work. "I..." she stammered, unable to find any real words. "I should go get new papers to fill out..." Instead of looking at the second division captain, she turned to Virgo, "I'll redo your paperwork, too, Virgo... you put in enough time already." The Kenpachi tried to stand, but found herself to shaken to really do so.

Aerik had expected more. He had always expected more from the Kenpachi. Instead of actually slashing her, He fell past her, falling onto his butt, laughing lightly. But then he noticed the Kenpachi, and her hours of lost work. Aerik frowned. He didn't like to make women upset. Especially pretty ones, even if this one was the Kenpachi. Aerik sighed, and stood up, patting the Kenpachi on the back. "I'm sorry, here. Let me." He looked at the pages. He had to remove the wet ink from that which had already dried. If he was too slow, it wouldn't work. But Paper was thin, and it could be worked with. Using his Spiritual energy, he forced the paper to separate, and then the ink from the paper, careful to leave that which was already there. While some of it was lost, he managed to save a good 80% of it. The ink that he separated, he used a nearby wastebasket to empty it into. He looked at his handywork and sighed. "I didn't know if I could do it. But... It worked." He handed the paper down to the Kenpachi, who he noticed was still shaken. He knelt beside her. "You need to relax. You're a Kenpachi, a swordsman of legend to go down in history. You must keep your composure at all times. What if I had been an Assassin who specialized in what I just did? Would you have been able to stop him?" Aerik stood up straight, taking a couple steps towards the the lieutenant, and putting his hand on the lieutenant's shoulder. "Your Captain needs a friend. A New Captain takes to their Lieutenant much easier than and older one. I suggest you try to keep her company." He turned to look at the Kenpachi, removing his hand from the Lieutenant's shoulder, and awaiting some sort of reply.

As soon as the Second Division Captain had made himself known, and seemed as if he were to attack his Captain, Virgo by instinct draw his blades from their sheath on his back. The notebook and marker hit the ground with a chwak, the marker itself rolling away. Virgo couldn't sense Reiatsu as well as other Captains or Lieutenants could but as a trained solider he could trust his gut to let him sense intent. Though this intent wasn't the murderous kind, Virgo still drew his blade against it. The fact that the Second Division Captain had planned to scare his Captain wasn't so much upsetting as that fact that his work had been ruined in the process. Seeing the ink spill and bleed into the pages caused the silent man to twitch. Rage building up in the pit of his stomach. The end result was Virgo raising his blades higher towards Aerik.

Virgo's Captain had insisted that she would redo his work. But Virgo would not agree to this. His work was his own. Only he had no way of relaying that message seeing as his hands were full and his means was at his feet. So he looked towards his Captain, expression stoic. It was only when the Second Division Captain touched Virgo's shoulder did he turn his attention back onto the man, Virgo's expression turning cold. No one, no matter who they were, screwed with his hard work. The man began to speak about Virgo's duty as a Lieutenant. Slowly Virgo began to lower his blades finally sheathing them. Virgo was well aware of his duty. He just wasn't very sociable. Besides how could he keep the poor woman company when he was just a log in the room. Virgo didn't converse, and social instances make him very uncomfortable. He did his best the way he could. Sighing Virgo moved to the side of the room and leaned his shoulder against the wall.

"I'll have you know," Eunae began, her face flushed with a mixture of anger and still being upset and shaken, "That Virgo is doing a perfectly good job as my Vice-Captain." The 11th Captain was visibly upset by this surprise visit, and wouldn't try to change that just because of some words. "And you should also know that I'm already a legendary swordsman, but not from fighting cowards who sneak up one people!" Was she thankful that he saved some of the paperwork? Somewhat. But more importantly, there was 20% that was lost, and with how much work she and Virgo had put in, that was already several hours worth of work. "I don't know what you're thinking, Virgo," she eyed the dropped notepad and marker, "but I'll bet you don't want me to redo your work. I must insist." Having said this, the young Kenpachi started to get nervous by Virgo's silence, and once again felt the need to fill in his silence with more talking of her own. "Maybe you do want me to do your work, and that's fine... I don't mind at all. Either way, I'm fine with doing paperwork, and I don't want you to have to put in any more time than you already have... I mean, you work at least ten times as much as all the other members of the squad combined! I do hardly anything more than the required paperwork... and even that I mess up a lot. Practice makes perfect, right? So it might even be better for me to get some more practice doing paperwork so I can learn to stop spacing out so much. Maybe I shouldn't use an inkwell anymore either..."

Eunae remembered the second division captain was still in the room, and turned to him now. "Pendragon, correct?" She had learned the names of all of the Captains before she became a Captain. Even the second division, despite the fact that her predecessor had emphasized that the names of those in the second division were not worth knowing. "I would greatly appreciate it if you would knock before entering, even if my door is already open." The young Kenpachi made no reference to the fact that he had been trying to sneak up on her, calmly restating not only rules, but common courtesy practices. "The eleventh division headquarters is quite far away from the second division's. What is your business here? Certainly you had a practical purpose in coming here, though I can't really imagine what the stealth corps would possibly need from the combat corps - I know we certainly don't need your help." Almost out-of-character her tone was cold, but she was reasonably upset by the incident. Further, if there was one thing Eunae hated above all else, it was cowards and in the eyes of most of the eleventh division's members, that was all that the stealth corps were.

Aerik listened to her words, undecided on how to answer. Whether to give her some bull s**t answer that comes straight from his a**, or the truth. Aerik could lie, but then he would have to follow up with that lie. And that... Just seemed like too much unnecessary work. So he just told her the truth, however depraving it was that he was a Captain and would subject himself to such idiocies. "I was bored." Simple as that. Aerik gave her a cheap smile, and put his hand on the back of his head. "I was hoping the Legendary Swordsman might treat me to some action. It used to be the only place I could get any... Hmm... That sounded... Wrong. Anyway, if you don't want to fight, or at least try to get revenge on how treated you and your Lieutenant, then I will take my leave." It was obvious he was trying to bait her. But whether she took the bait or not... Well, Aerik would just have to find somewhere else to go have fun. And most likely at someone else's expense. He fitted the cloak loosely around himself, and started for the door he had entered from.
