Kivuli padded quietly avoiding the stones that littered the path in the forest, the moon high in the night sky. She flexed her wings peering around in the darkness, her own swirling around her. She tilted her head listening to small creatures scurrying around in the undergrowth; the forest was alive at night all sorts of nocturnal animals lived there and began roaming. She could see fine despite how dark it was, in fact she preferred the darkness and the night to the light and the day. She moved off the path silently weaving in-between the giant trees stalking a mouse that ran in the brush. She paused in her hunt, a sent came though on the breeze. Hmm perhaps she wasn't the only hunter on the ground tonight. Spreading her wings as she jumped, quickly making her way into a tree to see who else was around on this wonderfully dark evening. She listened intently for any noises other than the sound of the bats and owls that swooped threw the sky catching insects and rodents.

A lithe shadow flitted from one tree to the next, waiting for the precise moment before moving. Here, a dart to the twisting roots of a tree when the wind picked up, rustling leaves. There, a quick slip under a thick bush when a screech owl let loose a particularly loud cry.
Akumu was hungry, and on the prowl, ears pricked and rotating, catching the sound of subtle scurrying in the underbrush. For the time being, he tuned out the sounds overhead of nightbirds and bats, stilling his movements and his breathing.
It was a nice night for a hunt. There was just a sliver of moonlight - enough to see clearly by, but dark enough still to hide his dark form and let it blend into the shadows.
Then, there, a rustle, a high-pitched squeaking as a small, doe-eyed little mouse peeked out of a pile of leaves. Akumu tensed, and then, as the mouse turned its head, looking upwards at something, Akumu leapt with claws extended.

Kivuili watched a something moved along the shadows, hearing the mouse let off one shrill cried before it died she crept closer to where it had been. She was curious as to what had killed the mouse she had been stalking early. She could find another easily she was in here element literally. The darkness and night aligned neko had been preparing to sneak down the tree when a small bird few in front of her. She leapt of the tree grabbing it midair blocking out the silver light of the moon for a moment as she used her wings to slow her decent she landed softly on the ground.
Sadly her take off wasn’t nearly as quiet and she was sure that whatever it was she had been planning to stalk abide not for the same reason as the mouse had heard her. From what she had seen back in the tree it was most likely another cat. She would find them soon enough though; right now she had a fresh meal calling her. Folding her wings she bent down over the bird and began to eat it.

Akumu crouched proudly over his successful kill: another successful hunt. His tail lashed back and forth as he looked over the unmoving mouse, licking his lips and savoring the moment of victory before tucking into his meal.
But then, just as he was about to lean in and take his first bite, there was a flicker of darkness as the moonlight was blocked and a squak of a surprised bird... followed by a soft 'thud' of something hitting the ground.
He leapt to his feet, fur bristling and hissing as he stood guard over his meal. He wasn't about to let some hawk take his prize.
"Go find your own meal, bird, before I decide that it needs a side!" He spat into the night.

Kivuli had just finished her first bite savoring the flavor, when she heard a voice call out in the darkness she hissed angrily at it. “I’m no bird fool and I’d like to see you try.” She snapped back venomously annoyed that any one would think her too lazy to catch her own food and that they would be able to eat her. Taking another bite she listened intently for any sign that the owner of the voice was indeed looking for a fight, one she would gladly give.
Her own fur bristled at the idea that someone would dare try to take anything form her, yes if it was a fight they wanted then she would gladly show them their place. Hell she might even take their catch simply. Her tail flicked crazily as she waited moving into a position to better defend herself, her wings pressed closely to her body, she wondered how shocked they would be to see her wings, most people where terrified of her, she chuckled thinking of the annoying creature running in fear as she spreads them.
She was more than readily for a fight, the soon it came the sooner she could get back to her meal. Of course there was also the possibility that it was simply and idle threat as well.

A low, irritated growl replaced Akumu's hissing. Not a hawk. Not a bird. Probably another Neko. Not edible, and a potential rival. His hackles remained bristled as he extended his claws and stood up straight, posturing.
"Come to steal my dinner, then?" He hissed into the darkness, crimson eyes scanning for movement. He could tell the direction the other neko's voice had come from, but the bushes and long grasses still hid his rival from view.

Kivuli snorted angrily, her golden eyes peered through the darkness aided by her elemental alignment she was able to make out the shape of a neko. “You dare think that I am too lazy to hunt for myself?” she hissed back at the neko “I am plenty capable of catching my own food, and besides it’s not like you can catch anything I can’t. If you’re so worried about not eating then maybe you should find new hunting grounds because I assure you I’m not going anywhere. If you still wish to try to eat me however, why you don’t come over here? Like I said earlier I’d love to see you try.”
She was irritated at the fact that it kept going on about its food, there was plenty of things to catch in the forest, and if someone was going to take their food they wouldn’t make their presence known until after the fact, well if they were smart anyways. She tried to keep her fur down but the idea that she might be in a fight soon made it impossible for her to not have her heckles raised. Her tail would have been thrashing around with excitement if she wasn't trying to make herself hard to find.

He chuffed in indignance. It's not like Akumu expected to be the only neko to prowl the woods. It was prime hunting ground. And he certainly didn't see competition as reducing his chance at finding a meal himself - he was a skilled hunter. But lo be it for any to try to take his victory. He didn't care if he was seen now - he had food... if he had the time to eat it. "I don't eat other nekos. I thought you were a hawk." He growled cautiously, not wanting to be the one to de-escalate the threat and seem weak. But if he could avoid an all-out fight, that would be preferable. He was hungry and really just wanted to eat his mouse in peace. But he couldn't let down his guard now. He crouched down again, positioning himself over his mouse, but kept his eyes on the figure behind the bushes. He could only just make out a bit of dark fur behind the leaves.

“I see” she purred in amusement. “Well if you still wish to fight you can come over here now. If not why don’t we eat before meeting? Some people seem to get so irritable when they’re hungry and I promise not to bite, for now anyways.” Kivuli waited a bit to see if the other was indeed looking for a fight. After a few moments she turned to her bird and began to eat it, she enjoyed the warm meat; there wasn’t much that was better than freshly caught food. She ate somewhat slowly taking the time to savor her food and still be ready for a fight should she need to.

Akumu growled in irritation. He was being mocked now, and he hated being mocked. But it sounded like he wasn't going to be ambushed ... just yet at least. He crouched closer, paused and silent until he heard the crunch of bones of the other neko eating. Then, and only then, did Akumu set into his mouse. Usually he savorted the sweet taste of his prey. But tonight, he gulped down the mouse in three bites. He was hungry, and he was eating to fill his belly. He didnt' want to leave himself open. And as soon as he had taken his last bite - like a dart- he was up a tree - clutching the bark tightly and trying to remain perfectly silent. To get a glimpse of who had disturbed him.

Kivuli slowly ate the bird she caught savoring it. An amused grin slid over her face when she heard something scuttle up a tree, she waited until she had finished her meal to say something. “Scurrying up like a squirrel are we? Do I scare you that much already? To think you haven’t even seen me yet.” She wondered briefly if it was scared, not that it mattered he would probably run like the rest of them. She chuckled under her breath; this neko was quickly going from irritating to amusing. She stood up stretching a bit. She kept her wings pined to her sides the shadows of the forest making them look more like markings and not actual wings. “So are you going to come down here or am I going to have to go to you?”

Akumu narrowed his eyes and looked over the sleek, short-tailed figure beneath him. She - he realized, his rival was a female - took her time as she ate her own catch - a small bird. And then, he was caught. His eyes widened, and then narrowed in irritation. "I am not afraid." He hissed, dropping back to the ground right in front of her, stealth abandoned and standing tall, his bob tail raised high. He wasn't hungry any longer - and he was still irritated. But he hadn't realized until just now that it was a female that had challenged him. Still... he wasn't going to seem like a coward.

A smile slid across her face as the male neko came down from the tree. "No you're not, not yet any ways." She stretched, shifting her golden gaze onto him. He wasn’t scared of her yet, but soon he would run like the others. Some ran when they saw the darkness crawling along her body shifting and swirling ignoring the light and other darkness as it warped around her. Most however fled when they saw her wings, she was intimidating on her own but her large wingspan seemed to make many think her a demon. She almost sighed, it wasn’t often she talked to other and never the same person twice people tended to avoid her after their meetings, while she was amused by the male in front of her she wanted to see his reaction the shock and fear on others faces when they saw her wings was always amusing. She stared right at him her golden eyes boring into him as she extended her wings to their full length making it obvious they weren’t markings. It would be interesting if he stayed.

Akumu's eyes widened and he jumped about a foot in the air as what he had assumed were just elaborate markings in her fur sprang snapped to life. Wings - REAL wings - grew from this queen. Leathery and clawed like bats. He landed, but instead of bolting back up a tree or into the bushes, he stared objectly. HE had chased bats before. Night time was his preferable time to hunt, after all. He leaned forward, whiskers and ears pointed forwards as curiousity overwhelmed any sort of fear. After all, Akumu - like the Nightmare he was named for - delighted in spreading such a sensation, and was not often victim to it himself. His tail flicked back and forth as he looked them over before finally looking into her eyes. There was a spark of something in his eyes but it wasn't fear - if anything, it was a hint of jealousy. Finally, he gave a mock yawn and sat down on his haunches, going for snark to throw her off. "How many bats did you have to catch to get those?"

Kivuli watched as he jumped when he landed he stayed where he was, no doubt frozen in place by his fear. Her lips twisted into what might be a small smile. She watched as his expression changed slowly, was that curiosity mixed with a bit off jealousy she saw? Hmm most people where to scare to jealous but she could understand that he might be jealous of the fact that she was aligned, as far as she knew there weren’t to many aligned nekos running around. She wondered if there was something else he could be jealous of and if there was what it was. She was surprised that his fear had faded so quickly. Her face showed a bit of confusion for a second before returning to its normal impassive expression. She folded her wings looking him over intently as she watched him yawn and snarked at her. “Who knows perhaps it was thousands perhaps it was none.” She laid down intrigued by him she paused for a moment trying to figure out what to do next. “You did not run, nor are frozen with fear this has never happened in as long as I can remember. I suppose I should introduce myself since it seems that you aren’t going to scurry off like a frightened mouse. I am Kivuli and my alignment is night and darkness, who might you be?
