Lenore sat down on the grass, Mephistopheles hovering above her. In the distance, they heard a strange noise.

Gabbie hopped around in a berry bush, chattering to himself as he picked the fruits of his branches. Being a Chatot, his chatter was mixed with snatches of mimicked calls from many different pokemon, making a very odd cacophony.

As they got closer, the sound became aggravating. Lenore twitched in annoyance. Finally, she'd had enough. "Mef, could you beat up whatever's making that noise?" Mephistopheles nodded, sending a barrage of snow at the source of the sound.

The random sounds broke off with a squawk when Gabbie felt a blast of cold air coming his way. That Chatot quickly leaped into the air, away from the blast, and turned to face whoever'd sent it. 'Hey, what was the for?' he complained, then jabbered another round of random sounds, just because.

"Sincerest apologies. My name is Mephistopheles, but you may call me Mephisto. I have been instructed to "beat you up", so I'm afraid that regardless of your predispositions, I will be engaging you in combat. Good luck."

Mephistopheles raised his arms again, sending another blast of snow at the chatot.

Gabbie's response were the nastiest sounds he could think of in at least a dozen different voices.

"I thought birds were supposed to sing songs, not try to drive even the deaf to suicide."

Even the normally polite Mephistopheles agreed with Lenore's assessment, and he sent a blast of snow at the chatot again.

In response to the girl, Gabbie made a sound that sounded very much like someone blowing a raspberry. Then he flapped his wings busily and sent a gust of strange, shadowy wind at the ghost.

Mephistopheles was buffeted by the spectral wind. He sent another blast of snow to beat it back.

Gabbie was finally silenced when a thick coating of ice froze him in place. Unable to squawk his outrage, he was forced to stay mute as he tried to struggle his way out.

Mephistopheles watched silently, appraising the ice. He sent another flurry at the chatot.

Even through the coat of ice, Gabbie could feel the force of a renewed blast of wind. The fact that he was too trapped to shiver didn't make him feel any better. He tried again to break loose so he could let the ghost have a piece of his mind.

Mephistopheles kept his hands raised, sending another burst of icy wind. His eye glowed as he made the winds rage faster and faster.
