Ayo crouched behind a rough boulder, her bright, blue-green eyes locked intently on a creature poised a few feet away. It has a rodent-like body with big eyes and a long, flat, paddle-shaped tail. A rock was gripped firmly in the woman’s hand as she took a careful step forward. She knew this land well; she could move silently, concealing herself well behind the craggy structures. She had studied these animals for years, knew how to follow them, to hunt them…

…but that didn’t mean she was a good shot.

The Wind woman released the rock with as much force as she was able. It landed just left of the strange critter and shattered on the ground. The surprised creature’s tail connected with the hard earth, creating a thunderous crack, a magnificent distraction as it leapt away and disappeared from sight.

Ayo grimaced, hands covering her ears until the echo of the sharp noise began to fade.
”Dangit…” She muttered, ”If only I had a bow…” The woman closed one eye, her hands mimicking the movement of holding a bow, slowly pulling back and loosing the arrow. ”Pop.” She chirped gently as her imaginary weapon hit the very spot where the odd rodent had originally been seated.

Jacinthus starred at the spot before him for a long moment, looking more then a little confused and perturbed. He'd noticed the goofy looking, flat tailed rodent a short time ago and had been working on creeping closer, reading his bow, notching an arrow, and wondering what the beast might taste like... when a rock came in from nowhere to chase it off. Just like that, though not before making a rather startling sound with the tail, the beast was gone, "Damn..." He'd of loved to bring that back for a snack he thought to himself, wondering who out there was throwing rocks... for a moment he almost thought it was Keilana, out throwing rocks at his targets just to mess with him. He supposed that he did have to be ready for anything, didn't he? The beast had reacted by lifting it's tail to slam it against the ground, that had been more then enough time to take a shot, but he'd hesitated due to the errant rock, hadn't he? It was a mistake he'd have to learn from for sure.

Making a face he pushed up to his feet, replaced his arrow in the quiver, and then slung his bow over his shoulder once more, "Alright, time to try that again." Maybe he'd be able to track it down again? Get another chance to take a shot at it? He wasn't sure on the odds of that happening but he was sure going to try, he couldn't let the thing just get away! Perhaps he was a bit too stubborn like that. He just didn't like it when things got away! All animals should fall to his arrows and let him eat them as a tasty snack he though to himself with a bit of a grin.

Walking along the Leaf Tribesman walked right through the line of side of the Wind Tribe girl that had been throwing the rocks, a little oblivious to her at the moment. He had a one track sort of mind and was still certain that it had been Kei throwing the rocks. If she were out there he knew full well the moment he had food that she would be right there next to him, wanting some of what he'd shot. Being the good big brother that he was he meant to share with her as well, even if it had been her messing up his first chance at a kill. There was nothing he'd deny his spoiled sister after all, even if she was teasing him.

”Alright, time to try that again.” Ayo looked up as the unfamiliar voice rang through the area. She stepped silently behind a rock, but found that she wouldn’t have needed the hiding spot anyway. The strange man walked right past her, completely oblivious to the fact that he wasn’t alone. The Wind woman narrowed her eyes slightly. Was it a trick? Surely these people wouldn’t wander around unfamiliar territory so completely unaware.

The woman snuck forward, easily slipping from boulder to boulder, concealing herself, just in case the strange man were to finally decide that he should be paying better attention. She had never seen anyone like him before, and yet he seemed more familiar, especially more so than the strange Shifter man she had met before. This one… his skin was darker, as was his hair, but he didn’t seem too much different from her people, even his crystals were a similar, pinkish hue. Really, nothing was too surprising, except… except for those ears.

Ayo suddenly felt an overpowering urge to touch those long, pointed ears, wondering how differently they might hear. The woman danced behind him, hoping to sneak up on him from behind, completely focused on those ears, until the quiver of arrows caught her eye.

…An archer? Her fascination was piqued, sky-rocketed above what it had been mere moments before. As she reached forward, instead of aiming to touch the long, pointed appendages on either side of his head, she reached for the quiver of arrows, aiming to snatch one of the feather-tipped weapons from its resting place on his back.

Jacin's ears seemed to twitch as he walked along and he could almost feel the eyes on him, watching him, making him wonder what it was Kei was planning this time. For the moment he was completely convinced that it was his sister following him, messing him with, and now likely looking for an opening to strike. He'd need to be careful if he didn't want to let her have an opening for a free shot, that never went well since any one of her punches was similar to being kicked by a aldabuk, the girl didn't know how to pull a punch after all. He could all but feel her getting closer, hear the faintest sounds of her footsteps and breathing and he just continued to walk along as though utterly oblivious, figuring that it would be best to wait for the perfect chance as well. It all really depended up on who struck first and who struck fastest, something that he was determined to win at. If he timed his strike just right be might even be able to startle her enough to make her squeak which would be amusing, though he was sure she'd retaliate. It would be worth it though if you asked him, ever enjoying teasing his sister.

As such the Leaf Tribesman continued on along, seeming to be focused on something in the distance, acting utterly oblivious until the hand came reaching toward his quiver of arrows. Instantly he moved, catching hold of the girl's wrist and turned, "I think not, Kei, you will have... to... ahhh..." Jacin starred down at the one he'd caught hold of, his cheeks darkened a little, and instantly he was letting her go as he realized that he'd captured someone that was most certainly not Keilana, "Sorry about that, thought you were my sister for a moment there." He said in a rush, explaining quickly who he'd thought her to be so that she wouldn't think to take a swing at him... though it was as he thought such a thing that he realized that not all girls were like his sister. In fact Kei had been telling him about her friend who wasn't really trained much at all. As such he supposed that he didn't always have to prepare to duck and cover around them.

Ayo faltered as the man began talking. Was he talking to himself? No… as he spun around, it became clear; he thought that she was this “Kei” person.

Those bright, blue-green eyes widened in surprise as the strange man caught hold of her wrist, a grin finding her lips as his cheeks darkened in embarrassment. She rubbed her wrist gently as he released it. He certainly hadn’t injured her, it was more out of shock at having been touched unexpectedly.

”Oh?” She chirped, laughing gently as he explained that he had thought she was his sister. “Well, I hope you’re not too disappointed.” Her grin broadened slightly as she winked at him, another small laugh bubbling from between her lips.

”So what tribe are you from?” She asked, her eyes flicking momentarily to the bow he held, still enamored with the weapons. ”You don’t look like a Shifter, but if your skin does such neat things too, you can expect my company until nightfall.”

Jacin's ears gave a little flick before he shook his head, "Not disappointed, just surprised." He said, not seeming as though he'd expected to find someone else out here while on a random hunt. He was just out and about trying to find something to eat, to get some practice in, and otherwise just get out and about. He knew that Sauti wasn't his homeland and he probably shouldn't be wandering away from the group so much but he wasn't the sort that was used to sitting around doing nothing. If he wasn't constantly moving he felt like he was getting rusty, not something that he was about to allow. She seemed to be another bubbly one he thought to himself, like that white haired girl that traveled here with the Leaf Tribe, Aminah. He supposed that it wasn't so bad, just far different from what he was used to with Keilana.

"I am of the Leaf Tribe." He answered when he was asked which tribe he was from, but saw no reason to ask which she was from, the hair color gave it away after all, "Sorry to say that the best thing my skin does is tan when I stay in the sun enough. So you can keep the rest of your day of if you want." He explained, giving a little chuckle as he did so, "Though I have to admit I think the Shifter's changing skin is pretty neat as well." There were things about all the tribes that he found that he liked, though he wouldn't admit it about the Alkidike since those women grated on him a little... well not all of them, Maya was alright, but certainly not the one that had been sent to meet with them at the start of the journey.

The Leaf tribesman looked around for a moment then asked, "So what are you doing out here?" Curious if she were out hunting as well. She didn't seem to have any weapons of her but that hadn't stopped him when he was a prentice, in fact he'd just figured out how to hunt with rocks and a walking stick since he wasn't about to leave the hunting up to others when he could do it himself with a little creativity.

”The Leaf Tribe…” She repeated, nodding gently as she contemplated the name. The woman smiled as he admitted that his skin only did as hers did, tanning a bit when left out too long in the sun.

”I wonder why the Shifters were given that ability.” She contemplated vaguely. Perhaps it had been gifted to them by the Moon itself. Ayo had found herself thinking more and more about creation and life. It was fascinating to her, the fact that everyone she had met worshipped something as their creator, but that person was never the same.

She shook her head gently. The topic was too big to dwell on now. She’d return to it later.

”Oh, just trying to catch that Moracker…” She muttered in response to the man’s question, motioning in the direction in which the strange, thunder-inducing creature had scampered off. ”As refreshing as plants can be, they get old after a while… and they’re so scarce here, you have to be careful how much you take. I was hoping to get some fresh meat in my diet.” She laughed gently, her shoulders falling in a light shrug. ”Unfortunately, stones aren’t proving to be the most effective weapon. Usually I collect things to trade for meat, but it would be so much better if I could just provide for myself. I want to travel. Can’t do that if I can’t get food.” She sighed, rubbing her neck gently.

”So, you’re an Archer, huh?” The woman indicated the bow he held, her eyes locked onto it once again. ”It’s really beautiful.”

"Couldn't tell you, maybe something to due with where they live?" It must be useful for blending in while in the darkened areas of Jauhar he thought to himself, though the whole silver at night thing one would think would make them stick out really bad. He gave a little shrug then, "I guess you'd have to ask one of them if you really wanted to know the secret." He did have to wonder how much the Shifters themselves might know about it though. Surely they had been changing color since they were little after all.

When the blond prentice started to tell him about what brought her out here he couldn't help but to smile, it was what he and Keilana had done for a long while before they had been given rank and weapons after all. They would go out with rocks and sticks and hunt for smaller creatures that could be made into a meal given that they often were left with boring plant matter to eat... nothing that Jacin liked even in the least bit, "I can understand the want for something other then plants, they get rather boring rather fast. Not much you can do with them to make them taste anything like what various critters of the world taste like." He said, then laughed, "My sister and I even ended up eating some giant bugs from Jauhar because that was a better option then more veggies." He knew that not many people were as willing as he was to try anything and everything when it came down to hunting and eating whatever was out there. Now that he had a bow though he meant to go after bigger, tastier looking things.

When she commented on him being an archer he nodded, patting his bow, "Yep! How about we see if we can find something out here big enough for us to split? I was trying to hunt for something to make into lunch anyhow." He offered after she complimented his bow. Might as well help her own since she seemed to be someone who could appreciate a good weapon and if you asked him his was the best... but then again he was also horribly biased.

”Hmm...” Ayo pondered Jacinthus' explanation briefly, before shrugging her shoulders. She would have to ask the next Shifter she saw for more specific information, but who was to say they would know? After all, she couldn't explain why her skin was the color it was, or why she had crystals protruding from her skin. Who was to say the Shifters would know why they were the way they were.

So many mysteries of the world. They intrigued the Wind Prentice to no end.

The woman's forehead furrowed gently as the Archer explained that he and his sister had eaten large bugs as opposed to plants. She tried to imagine such creatures. The occasional insect could be seen in Sauti, but they were never too large, certainly not enough to provide a meal.
"This Jauhar... I will have to see it sometime." She had heard of the place before, had been told of some of the differences between the forest and this mountainous area. She would be lying if she said she wasn't curious, eager to explore.

Her eyes widened eagerly as he suggested finding something large enough for the two of them to share.
"That is... incredibly generous." She murmured, before letting her head fall in a grateful bow. "I would be most grateful."

As she straightened back up, a bright smile took hold of her lips. "Maybe... maybe you'd be willing to show me how to use your bow? I hope to have one of my own some day..."

"I suggest going, Jauhar is an interesting place, so full of color and the life. A lot different from where I am from for sure." Though he couldn't help but to love Tale, it was his homeland, it was where his tribe lived, and despite it not being as beautiful as Jauhar it wasn't a place that he meant to leave for good. This trip was important though, to help get a good feeling for what else and who else was out there, thus far they had found the golden haired Wind People and he couldn't help but to be curious what else they might find if they were to keep going.

Looking around them he tilted his head to one side, ear giving a little twitch, as he tried to listen to see if he couldn't hear where the creature that he was hunting had gone out to, "I don't mind sharing what I hunt, I do it all the time when I hunt back home, if I find enough I will share with not only my little sister but also with the other members of our village." He said as he listened, turning toward where he was sure he heard skittering foot steps, "I think it went that way." He mused, then paused to look over at the blond girl that was asking him if he might be willing to how her how to use the bow, saying that she wanted one of her own, "An aspiring archer, huh? It's a good class to strive for, you can use this as something far more important then just a mere weapon after all." He preferred to use his to get food instead of using it to harm others, still if it came down to it and it was something he had to do then he would... for now he'd prefer not to loose an arrow upon another person no matter their tribe.

"I don't mind showing you how to use provided you help me to find some big prey, I don't know what all roams about Sauti so a guide would be useful in that aspect." He told her, "Well that and no telling any of the elders since pretice aren't supposed to wield weapons." He told her, giving a bit of a grin.

Ayo’s eyes narrowed slightly. For being a nomad, she seemed to know far less than these people who had stumbled across their land. The importance of exploration was becoming clearer to her. Then again, these people seemed already to have realized that. She had only ever seen Zena and Sauti, the edges of a sandy region known as Tale from afar, but she had never bothered to explore those places. It was too dangerous and she was too young, too incapable of protecting herself.

Tendaji suddenly felt so… big, and Ayo couldn’t help but feel helpless. She didn’t like the feeling and firmly resolved, in her mind, to become stronger faster, so that she could see the world… do whatever she pleased. Be useful to people, to herself.

”You’re not from Jauhar?”
This adventurer was full of valuable information. She would pick his brain as long as he allowed her. ”Is there a region beyond that?” How big was their world? The benefit of his being able to use a bow was turning out to be mere icing on the information cake.

He lived in a village. That was still an intriguing concept to her. She had lived on her own ever since she was young. That’s how things worked here. No ties, no need to worry about the survival of anyone other than herself. Companionship was not a thing she was used to, yet now, talking to all these people with their siblings and loved ones and people to care for, she couldn’t help but wonder what it might be like… having someone with you always.

”I think it’s a pretty good choice.” She responded with a grin as he mentioned how useful archery could be. Nice and practical. That was another thing about relying on yourself for survival. Practicality was always important.

The woman lit up perceptibly as he agreed to show her how to use the bow in exchange for using her tracking skills. After all, she knew this area better than he would. She nodded in eager agreement.
”Yes, of course!” Immediately, she made her way up a rocky crag, squinting in an attempt to see things that might be hiding nearby. ”A capramel would be perfect.” She called down to him, imitating the creature’s long, curved horns on either side of her head with her hands. ”Plenty big for both of us to share.”
