There were no bags. No fanfare. No welcoming committee. All there was, was a single key, and her lab coat. She knew where her room was, this time. She headed directly there, because it was hers, and she meant to reclaim every inch of it that she could.
The key she'd been given worked perfectly, though the door was still unlocked from the last time she'd visited it. This time, however, she felt comfortable locking it behind her, and began a thorough investigation of her premises.
...After flopping on her bed.
A few minutes of moaning over a soft, real bed passed, before she pulled out her cell phone, and her fingers flew over the keys.Sosiqui To: Malodore Honey. I'm home.

Malodore had been fretting. It had sent Jericho a number of texts after visiting the dragon's room and finding him absent - had he followed Medea after all, and left his sanctuary and gone to the Hunter's island? There was still no answer, which was very unlike him... When the plague doctor's phone went off, it nearly dropped the device. Ombra started barking, and Malodore shushed him absently, focusing all of its attention on the phone. Surely it was all fine, the dragon had just stepped out and- ... Riley?! Malodore sank into its chair, pressing its palms to its lenses. One thing, then another; this one was happier, but... what was it to say? Hello, welcome back, I seem to have misplaced your best friend? It tilted its head back in the chair and took a long, slow breath before replying. Nio Love To: Riley Si? I am delighted to hear it. I will come at once. It stared at the sending animation before pushing itself upwards, wings flaring to feebly grasp the air. "I will return for you," it said, pointing at Ombra, who tried to look innocent. And then it was off, padding across campus until it reached the demon dorms. It had the key, but it knocked instead, listening for her with all its senses. To have her here, home again... in a way, it was like waking up from a bad dream. Or it would have been, except for Jericho.

The sound of her phone chiming made her chuckle. She flipped it open, and read it, then did the one thing that she felt was necessary to live.
She laid on the bed and did not move until Malodore arrived.
Oh, it felt so good.
The sound of the door knocking did not deter her from her intimate moment with the soft bed, so her response was simply to raise her hand, and c**k her fingers sharply. The door unlocked, the knob turned, and the door opened right in front of Malodore..
While Riley was still in the bed.
Come inside. She offered. Make yourself at home. I don't think I can move.

Malodore poked its head in through the open door, looking perplexed. How had she... it hadn't heard her footsteps or anything, and her words seemed to disprove the hypothesis that she had come and opened the door. Strange.
Still, it pushed the door open, then closed and locked it behind it, selfishly; it wanted her to itself, for right now. "Welcome home," it said, softly, padding into her room, opening its beak in a smile at the sight of her. She looked so content, stretched out in bliss, relaxed. Even her grey striping looked beautiful. While the specter of Jericho's status lurked in its mind, Riley was home... Riley was home.
It helped, immeasurably.

Riley's eyes opened when she heard it step into her room, and her face lifted in a lazy expression of joy. All of her tentacles snaked out from underneath her, stretching to their limit until they all managed to wrap themselves around the plague doctor. Then she pulled, and caught the light creature in her arms before any harm could befall it from her rough gesture. She wrapped it in her embrace, and continued to stubbornly refuse to move from the bed.
It's so soft. She offered as explanation. It feels so good. Oh, Malodore. She sounded like she was almost purring. Can I stay here forever?

The plague doctor chuckled. "I think, in time, this room would grow to be too much of a cage for you... I could be wrong, however. Did they really give you so terrible a bed?" it asked, the levity in its voice fading into concern. It didn't seem to care that it was being hauled across the few feet of floor between it and the bed.
"Careful," it added, wings flaring back awkwardly. "I am rather, ah, pointy-"

Riley received a first hand impression of just how pointy Malodore was, and she tried not to react as it pressed into her skin. She adjusted carefully, but kept it in her arms, refusing to let a little discomfort keep her from what she wanted.
So you are. I'll have to get used to that. I'll enjoy the effort. She settled it more comfortably on the bed beside her, in her arms. And of course they did, you've seen it. The cot? That is not an acceptable form of lumbar support, you know. It was terrible. Most nights I actually slept on the floor. At least that supported me.
She chuckled weakly, and closed her eyes. But this... this is nice. She purred out in content. But you are right, of course. As I suspect you often are, She murmured jokingly, as one eye opened. I won't want to stay here long. You have much to show me.

"I do, do I?" it said, amused; one wingspar got folded between its body and the mattress, and it had to squirm for a moment before everything was settled properly. "With luck, I won't tear holes in your mattress..." It struck the plague doctor that it had never properly held her, not like this, with its full wingspan.
Which was probably why it had just knocked the lamp off her bedside table.
"Merde!"

Riley heard the crash and laughed, refusing to let it go to fix the situation.
That's all right. She joked. I didn't like that lamp anyway.
She had no idea what the lamp looked like, nor any memory of the lamp. That was, after all, the point of the joke.
Are you uncomfortable, though? Her voice tinged with worry; but her arms did not seem to relent.

"If I am uncomfortable, it is only because I, in my infinite wisdom, decided to hang scalpels all over my back," it informed her, dipping its beak to nuzzle almost shyly at her cheek.
"... Truth be told, I was not expecting to hold you like this again, so soon..."

Riley stiffened, her eyes widening slightly at it's words. She pulled away, brow furrowed in worry. I am so sorry.. She murmured quietly. Was this too soon? Am I being unacceptably intimate?
She looked absolutely confused.

"No... no," it whispered. "I simply... did not want to force you into a position you did not want to be in. If this is truly what you wish, without reservation, then I am content." It sought her gaze with its own, earnestly.
"What may or may not have happened before is... I will not say of no consequence, because that is not true. But it does not mean that because things happened between us before, they must happen so now; that you have given away certain things that I am entitled to take from you..."

She settled back down onto the bed, but her brows remained furrowed. Without reservation. She mulled the phrase over carefully, unfocusing her eyes as she thought about it. A difficult concept, for me, I regret. She nuzzled into the plague doctor as she considered it. I know clearly, without hesitation, what I want. I want this. With you. She turned her head up for a moment, and her eyes smiled. Whether or not that is affected by echoes of memories, is none of my concern. If I had no memories of you, and you welcomed me into your arms the way you do, I would still want this. Because.. because it's you.
And there, she found the block that confused her. The Illithid are not known for their physical acts of affection. We express ourselves carnally due to the needs of our body, but there is no love in these acts. No... She stopped, and shifted her body slightly, while her next words were filled with mirth. No cuddling. And yet, here I am, finding myself desiring this. You. Your touch resonates within me.
She blinked, and forced herself to relax. It's.. Delightful. Perfection. Ecstacy. ...Interesting. She censored herself.

It opened its beak in a smile. "Then I accept and reciprocate, whole-heartedly. Just... should I ever be too, ah, forward, too... acting in response to something you do not feel mutually, you must tell me, per favore? That is one of the things I fear most," it admitted, brushing the tip of its beak against her cheek again.
Then Malodore chuckled. "Plague doctors are not, ah, known for cuddling either. We are delightful exceptions, I find."

A very warm blanket of content passed over her when she felt the tip of it's beak brushing against her. It was such a simple, and sweet gesture, and she could easily get used to this kind of treatment. I've always loved being an exception to any rule. Riley murmured proudly, as her head shifted just slightly, enough to continue the feel of the beak against her skin. This movement did not stop.
It worried that it would be too forward. She had pulled it onto her bed, wrapped her arms around it, and cuddled into it like a child curls into it's favorite giant skeleton plush. Mmm. The sound was muffled and distracted. I promise I'll tell you if you ever manage to find any impossible way to be more forward than me.
