Her lip quivered as she quietly slipped along the skirt of her home, reaching to nibble at the sweet grass that sprung where she hadn't munched it away yet. Omni's entire body trembled as she slowly stepped further from her home, eyes searching for the first sign of an unwelcome visitor.
Somewhere behind her leaves rustled, and she jerked back to the mess of fallen logs that had become her home. Her eyes strained to see something among the trees, but it had only been the wind. Too shaken to continue her foraging, she shuffled back beneath the small canopy the logs created and flopped herself down, wings stretching and refolding tight to her body. She needed to eat, but the thought of something out there drove her to hiding again. Omni's belly rumbled. She had quickly consumed what little vegetation was directly around her home, but the thick forest offered more things to eat just past her 'safe' boundary. There was water there, too. The more she thought about it, the more hunger gnawed at her and thirst scratched her throat. Finally she rose again and crept out into the open forest again, hooves barely making sound against the soft moss below. She approached where she heard water flowing, babbling against rocks and branches. Omni paused as she stepped along the stream's bank, looking up and downstream to check for unwanted visitors. No one was there.
She let her breath out and lowered her head, drinking deeply from the cool brook. Her mane fell past her and grazed the surface, wicking water upwards into the rest of her hair. Finally she relaxed, the water calming her mind as she drank her fill. There was no one else out here, why was she so nervous?

Capricorn Sunchai ((Tag! Sorry for the delay. :3 )) Unfortunately, Omni was not as alone as she may have first come to believe. Sunny had found himself very far from his own home, but he was not lost, nor was he desiring to return to the beaches quite so soon. He had left with his families blessing, if not some of their worry. Unlike his two siblings who had been blessed with genius-like intelligence and cunning, Sunny had always been just a touch daft. He didn't pick up on hints, wasn't very good at reading between the lines, and tended not to think or plan ahead. Still, the cream coated male had decided that it was time to leave the comfort of his beachside home and see what he world had to offer.
Thus far, his trip had been enjoyable enough, albeit quiet. He had never thought the world to be as large as it was, and had never seen so many different colors, scents, and rich landscapes. From the openness of the great plains, where one could see for miles in any given direction; to the thick woods that he now explored, rich with life and greenery. The world truly was a marvelous place, and Sunny was pleased to have found himself discovering it. There was confidence in his step, freedom to being able to go where he pleased, achieving an independence away from his family. It felt good.
The sound of water tickled the cream coated males ears, and he found himself with a thirst. Water wasn't ever guaranteed in his travels, so he never hesitated to visit any source he might stumble upon. While he didn't hesitate to hide his movement, he did walk cautiously; his ears stayed pricked upon his head, and the large male did his best to keep his eyes out for anything suspicious, and avoid making too much noise. For as much greatness as there was in the world, there was also evil. Having rescued the mare, Pele, from a kalona had been a reminder of such darkness, and he sported new scars to prove it. But it had been worth it. . . . no one should ever be subjected to such cruelty.
Picking his way out of the thicker foliage, up a bit from where Omni drank, Sunny saw two things: a lovely babbling brook, and a terribly bright colored soquili drinking from its base. He'd never seen a mare quite so vibrant before, and a wind at that! While he did come from a mutant lineage, the majority of his family were but regulars. Still, the blue eyed male was only too pleased to meet another in such a strange land. Sometimes soquili seemed terribly difficult to find. As crowded as his herd and homelands had been, now that he was a stranger, he found life to be terribly quiet, if not just a touch lonely.
Never one to hesitate from greeting his neighbors, the male gave a warm smile. "Hello there." He made sure to keep distance between himself and her, knowing full well that one couldn't always trust a neighbor, or an appearance. Evil came in all forms, and who knew? He knew the horns that sprouted from his blonde mane often put others on edge.

Just as she was beginning to let herself relax, she heard it.
The voice was peaceful enough, but it startled Omni far more than any other soquili would have been. She leapt back from the bank, eyes darting to find the source. Chest heaving a deep breath she froze, staring wide-eyed at the cream coated male down the bank. How had she not heard him approach? Had she really let her guard down that badly? Her gaze roved over his features in silence for a few moments, lingering over his horns but also watching his eyes. You could tell a lot about someone from their eyes... at least, she thought you could. Omni had never allowed many to get close enough to see if their eyes betrayed their true intentions.
She finally let out the breath she had been holding, deciding maybe this once she could stick around to see. He was ground-bound, after all; if he turned out to be dangerous she could take to the skies and find a new clearing to call her home. She had done it before and escaped unscathed, and so far this stallion had given her no reason to turn tail and run.
Besides, he was smiling. It wasn't a sneer or a mocking expression, but a genuine smile.
"H-h-... hello." she finally stammered out, voice soft. She focused on keeping her breath steady to keep her calm. What a fool she must look like, scared out of her wits at nothing more than a hello! Even foals were bolder than her, braver and more daring. Omni just liked to be safe. Feeling secure was the only thing she sought out anymore, and she had yet to truly find it. Would it be safer for her to join with other soquili in a herd? Probably, but first she had to meet them and get to know them before she trusted them with herself. Inwardly she wailed, again realizing her plight. She truly was alone.
Suddenly the need to discover who this other was grew from a blind fear into a subtle interest. Omni's wings quivered, still alert as she inspected him again, mind slowly clearing as she forced herself to calm and be reasonable. Who was he? Where had he come from? The sensation of water gently dripping from her mane against her body brought her back to reality. If her face could have flushed, it would have as she suddenly felt terribly embarrassed for being so terrified at the cream-coated male's arrival.

Capricorn Sunchai (( I am SO sorry this took a month plus to reply to. DD: I had vacation not long after the post, and then muses took a break. I hope you're still interested in writing together. I'll definitely try to be more prompt from here on out! )) Azuell couldn't help but start himself as the colourful mare jerked back in fright. His ears pricked instantly, and his pale-blue eyes widened with surprise at her reaction. He hadn't meant to startle the mare, and inwardly bemoaned his lack of sense; should he have been louder? Should he have made a scene before he approached the bank? Should he not have approached at all? Should he have simply left her alone?
Still, the stallion didn't take offense to the mare, even if he looked about as owlish as she appeared. Ears flattening some, the Sunny dipped his head apologetically -- almost bashfully -- and offered the skittish mare a small smile. "Excuse me, Miss. I . . . I hadn't meant to surprise." He spoke warmly, good-humor in his words though he did worry she might think he was laughing at her. He wasn't! Simply the situation. The poor soul was accustomed to living with a family that was far from shy or unsure; his relatives possessed the ability to be introverted, but there were few who were jumpy. Thankfully though, Sunny preferred quiet to supremely outgoing; he wasn't shy himself, but he wasn't the brightest flower in the field, and had lived most of his life as a follower.
He could handle this, couldn't he? He'd helped rescue such a quiet mare from a kalona, surely he could relax a shy wind from across the river. Maybe. Hopefully. "I'm Sunny," he greeted amicably, hoping she wasn't too put off by his size or his horns. But, if she was this unsure, maybe she didn't want to talk? Uh-oh. He could be bothering her, heckling her with conversation, and then what? "Er. . . I can move elsewhere too, if you'd prefer, Miss. I don't want to upset your drink." He quickly added, glancing down river a bit before turning back to look upon her.
And why shouldn't he move? The wind had been there first, after all.
