Roll an Eight: City Streets Field: Broken tar and faded yellow lines make up the “street” that runs down the exact center of the battle field. On either side of the road are sidewalks with pieces of concrete here and there. Fake building walls, complete with broken glass windows and grime lining the surface, limit the amount of maneuverable space on land. Trash cans and trash bags decorate the street. A sewer grate nearby continually pours a stream of fog into the air which, unfortunately, helps spread the horrible stench of the trash. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to POISON type attacks.

While most of the gym was still under construction, the battle arena was finished and she wanted to break it in a little. In light of this, Shina had opened the new arena to non-badge battles against herself, the new gym leader. This would be a fun chance to get her name out in town, and spread news of the upcoming gym opening. The door slid open and Shina coughed. Ugh, city streets field. Oh well, not every battle could be in a pretty meadow. "Rei, you're up!" Shina tossed the pokeball out.
Rei minced a few steps, clearly displeased with the field, then focused on the opposing trainer's box, waiting for her opponent.

What a disgusting field. Clyde strode into his trainer's box in regular street clothes, forgoing the Rocket uniform in the stadium once more. This time his torchic was in her ball, he didn't need her running ahead of him again.
"Alright Hestia, listen to me this time and we won't lose again," He tossed the ball onto the field.
Hestia appeared on the city streets field in a flash of red light. What was this disgusting place? Then she spotted her opponent. "Greetings, opponent, I am Hestia of the Blue Diamond clan, and I plan to defeat you!"

"Quit your chattering and use Will-o-Wisp!" The Rocket commanded.
Hestia did not like that tone of voice at all, on top of him being dishonorable, but she was here to get stronger and apparently to do that she should listen to her 'master.'
The little bird fired several balls of blue fire at her opponent, a signature move of her clan.

Rei danced out of the way on light paws. {"Greetings Hestia of the Blue Diamond Clan. I am Rei, partner to Motterossa Gym Leader Shina."}
"Rei, Tickle!" Shina called. Rei darted forward, swerving close and running her fluffy tail over the brightly colored bird, ruffling a few feathers the wrong way before bounding backwards.

Hestia did indeed giggle a little, before replying, "Tis an honor, good luck Rei, parter of Motterossa Gym Leader Shina," Her 'partner' had quite the title!
"Again, Hestia!" Clyde yelled.
The Torchic whirled again, tossing blue fire at her opponent.

Rei yelped as the flames licked at her fur. She quickly rolled in the dirt to put the flames out, but she could feel a tight spot on her side. Whirling, she sent the loose sand under her paws flying at the bird.

Hestia shielded her eyes with a small, bright wing, but to no avail, that sand hurt!
"Get your attack up, Focus Energy!" Clyde commanded.
The little torchic closed her eyes and concentrated, she could feel her power rising as the sand at here feet started to dance in a strange wind.

Rei wasn't one to waste an opening. Taking advantage of the closed eyes and raised wing, she sent another pawful of gravely sand at the Torchic.

"Rock Smash," Clyde ordered.
Hestia lept in her traditional whirl-and-twirl attack style and kicked a talon at her opponent.

Hestia was hit with a near-sandstrom-level Sand Attack and scrambled to get away from the Eevee, but soon after found she had no energy to continue. With a scowl, Clyde returned her and stalked out of the stadium.
