So, yeah. I'm copying that one person who made that one thread about stuff.

I plan to not diet. I plan to change my lifestyle. This is not a temporary "lose weight fast and gain it all back in half the time" thing this is me becoming a healthier person in general for the rest of my LIFE!

Current Bad Habits:

--> 1-2 Double cheese burgers a week at Burger King, plus fries occasionally.
--> Lots of Ice Cream (but I don't buy it from the store anymore I make my own cool )
--> Lots of microwave "convenience" foods, such at hot pockets, and mini pizzas
--> Pizza 3-4 times a month (either frozen or made at a pizza joint)
--> RARELY EXERCISE. I am very sedentary. :C
--> Irregular sleep schedule, either by conscious choice or insomnia/hypersomnia.

I am also really bad at motivating myself. I'll think: "I'll go for a walk" then I will say "Well maybe a few more minutes talking to random people online" which then turns into several hours online.... I guess I make my own excuses not to exercise. I HAVE the time I just don't have the motivation... usually.

Well now my motivation is to get healthier in general, lose a bunch of weight (in a healthy time frame), and magically be able to keep up with my sister's kids! I wanna be a reliable baby sitter when they get outta diapers. :3

I Will:

--> Walk at least a mile every other day
--> Exercise 20 minutes every day on my Wii Fit.)
--> Eat more fruit and vegetables. FIND some I actually LIKE to eat!
--> Go to the Farmer's Market once a month.
--> Shop for healthier food at the grocery store. Less convenience foods!
--> EAT WAY LESS FAST FOOD!
--> Stay within my budget, for food and anything else.
--> Count and log caloric intake and foods eaten every day.
--> Take Vitamins and Meds on time every day.
--> Wake up before 12pm and go to bed before 3am

Weekly Weigh Ins

______Week One: Weighed myself today and I am 289. Not much of a change but at least it is a downward change. xD Ate a bit too many calories over the week but managed to do some exercise every day. Actually did 40 minutes yesterday. cool Not drinking as much water as I should, but still enough not to get dehydrated. My walks every other day have been postponed until I can find my sunglasses. - n-
______Week Two & Three: So I got as low as 287... the Sloane died and in the last 6 days I have gained 6 lbs.... which puts me over 290 again... to much comfort foods I guess. :/
Got Sunglasses from my sister so I can go on walks again.... got a lawnmower form my dad so I can mow my lawn to burn calories once every 2 weeks or so. Just mowing 2/3 of my yard burned like 300 calories the first time I mowed based on generic calories burned calculators online. And I DO need to mow again... lazylazydepressedlazy....
______Week Four! Lost the weight I gained... down to 288-ish pretty sweet deal mang.
______Week...whatever... first week of October! I am down to 290 again. O.o This is what I meant about how my weight fluxes up and down in a 10lb range...

anyways!
i know you can do it! and i don't mind that you're copying my idea. X3 i'm glad to see your choosing a healthy life style and sharing it. i found it very helpful just to write down my current weight each week. it keeps me motivated because i can see my progress.
and usually when i want to do something, and think "in a few minutes" it turns into more than that. so i put in my head. "just get it over and done with now. and then you don't have to worry about it". it actually feels really nice getting work outs over and done with because then you're not thinking about it and putting it off all day and feel crummy about it when it comes to bed time.

I'm trying to do the same thing in the "don't put it off" department. I really want to have the "do it now" mentality but my laziness so far is not helping. xD

Speaking of I plan to go for a walk today since it is below 90 degrees. xD

Part of me wants to wait until my mom gets home so she can watch the dogs while I am gne butthe other part of me is all "GOGOGOGOGOGO" Which is a good thing. xD

All good planned changes! As you start to eat better and exercise more you'll probably find you have more energy, which will make it easier to continue putting effort into eating better and exercising more. xd

Tips for every other day of walking exercise:

Try walking away from your place until you need to sit down for a few minutes or until you notice that the neighborhood is... unsavory. Then turn around and walk back to your home, or past it. Going past your house is preferable. Try walking farther each day. Bring a Pokewalker to make yourself feel better.
If you have a music player of some sort, make a playlist for walking and have the songs total 25-30 minutes. Keep adding to the playlist every week or two. No subtracting without replacements.



Is there any sort of fruit or vegetable you like at all? You might or might not like avocados. Add some salt to a ripe one and eat it. It's full of fat, but it's good for you.

If part of the sleep troubles come from bad sleep schedules, it's going to be hard to fix, especially if you're the kind who has a hard time falling asleep earlier than usual. It's not always a good tip, but it's sometimes easier to keep adjusting your sleep forward so you get to bed later everyday until you are tired enough at the right bedtime. This doesn't always work with certain daily schedules...

Further walking tips! Find a few routes you like, with fairly nice scenery and safe walking space.
Alternatively, explore new streets every time you go walking to keep it interesting.

How's your water intake? People underestimate how important drinking enough water is.

As far as scenery... this area sucks monkey butts for good scenery for walks. It's all houses and occasionally a house with a garden. I will be walking different routes until I find one that equals a mile or more. Alternatively I can take the walking path towards the school and I KNOW that is over a mile. xD It's just all icky scrub land and no shade. :/

My water intake is... not great. I drink a lot but not just water ya know? Yesterday I had about.... three of my 24 ounce water bottles full. And that is somewhat average for me during summer but n winter it gets to be much less as I prefer warm drinks like hot cocoa and tea. > 3>

I used to walk until my legs hurt a bit then rest then walk further, but I am so much more out of shape now that I was three years ago that as soon as my legs hurt I have to sit then turn around and go home lest my legs simply fall off. Becasue I am SOOOO out of shape I need to start slowly while still pushing myself ya know? Which is why I set my goal to be a mile, I KNOW I can handle walking a mile most days (not including walking around the house or going shopping, this is purely extra walking). My Pokewalker is becoming a permanent fixture on my hip again too. xD
I do have music I listen to but not an actual play list. A timed playlist may be a good idea!

I like apples, strawberries, pears, and bananas. I like carrots, corn (not a true veggie I know) and basically nothing else in veggie land... So hence my need to broaden my horizons.... I will try some avocado next time mom buys one.

My sleep problems tend to come form insomnia and hypersomnia. Which is to say I have trouble falling asleep then once asleep I sleep WAAAAY too long. Also personal staying up late habits I have are annoying. Which is why I plan to go to bed, as in all electronics off and lights out, by 3am I get to stay up late, but not too late so I can still get up before noon. Hopefully.

Increasing your exercise from zero to not zero (and then increasing it more) will do wonders for you. Yesterday I started the 200 sit-up program again, so hopefully in six weeks or so I'll have a nice stomach. Also gonna be DDRing four days a week. Woohoo~

Keep at it, even if it's hard! And post here about it or we'll come to your house with pitchforks.

Yeeep. Yesterday was a walk day but I wound up falling asleep when we got home around 4pm... then I woke up today at 6:30 am, fell asleep again and woke up again at around 9:30am. So today is gonna be a walk day instead. xD

I've been eating way too little though, thanks to having no food money. xD

I made a list of foods I like that are healthy to somewhat healthy. Planning on buying at least some of them this coming week when I get food stamps. :3

AND my finances are IN MY OWN HANDS now! So Yeah, I get my whole check tomorrow supposedly. :333
