With heavy lids Nuru tired to blink the sleep from his eyes. The sun off in the distance was sinking back into the earth and the stars were starting to make an appearance. He lived for the night. To him nightlife was so much more beautiful than the day. Day was hot, sticky, and dull which is why he preferred to sleep during this time. Looking up he watched dozen upon dozens of glowing lights spread across the inky-purple sky.
Nuru stretched out his long skinny body enjoying the roughness of tree branch scrapping his fur. "What to do." He flicked his tail while peering into the semi-darkness. Prey was so easy to find as they were sleeping. Easy pickings. He landing gracefully onto the ground flexing his muscles getting ready for a run. "Suppose I could just roam around for a bit and see what I find~"

Pausing to look up towards the changing sky, Njozi was still far from home. She had left her pride a few moons ago, under the premise that she'd only be gone for a short while, just to go star-gazing. But after the first night, she found herself walking farther and farther away, getting even more distracted as each night came to pass. And as she stood there, now, she wasn't all-too sure whether she even wanted to go back. Sure, she was born there, and had plenty of family in her water tribe - she even rose to the rank of high priestess - but she knew, maybe better than anyone else, that things in the Arba were slowing. Njozi hated to think about it, and that may have been a big reason why she went outside the pride to star-gaze that one night.
Letting out a yawn, Njozi was starting to feel more awake now. She shifted her gaze back in front of her, wanting to find a good place to sprawl out for a night of looking up at the sky. Sometimes, though, she would use the last bit of twilight to start hunting; it was nice to have something to eat while she was star-gazing, and if she didn't do it at night, she'd never do it at all, as she tended to do nothing but sleep and laze around during the day. But right now, she wasn't thinking about it all that much. Slinking through the grass, she would keep going until she either found a good spot to lay out on, got hungry, or ran into something.

Nuru paused in his wandering and looked up. He did this every so often as the heavens always fascinated him. Others would say a little too much, but he didn't really care about their opinions anyways. The sound of water trickling and leaves blowing calmed him surprisingly it made him even more awake rather than tired. The rustling of leaves made him freeze and with narrowed blue eyes he looked around to see who was out there. After an internal debate he gave in and spoke allowed. "Hello?" He didn't shout but it still seemed pretty loud in the silence. He waited not saying another word, it wasn't good to draw too much attention to ones self.

Treading through some bushes, Njozi hadn't been thinking much about being cautious. Generally, she was one of the few creatures awake at this hour, and her coat gave her a great disguise at night. That was probably why she hadn't noticed that she was coming up on someone else until they spoke out.
Freezing in her tracks, Njozi's head was still, her eyes a little wide as they scanned. Her tail twitched a bit, and she thought that it hadn't sounded like someone was coming after her. Plus, it definitely came from in front of her. Taking a few steps out from the bushes, Njozi immediately spotted the other that had, presumably, called out. Their pelt was more white, so it was easier to see at night. Plus, Njozi's vision had become much more nighttime inclined.
"H...Hi." Her voice was soft, and higher-pitched, like a younger adolescent, or even juvenile cheetah.

The answering call to his greeting surprised him. He hadn't really expected a responce and a young sounding voice at that. "Are you lost?" He softened his voice presuming it was a young cub as they had yet to come out from there spot. "If you come out I can help-oh." He blinked in shock as his vision took in an adult cheetah. A pretty one at that and slowly looked up her body taking her all in. The swirls, stars and blueness of her was breath-taking. When he reached her face Nuru had found her looking at him, so naturally he blushed with embarassment. "Your fur is quite beautiful-" He verbally stumbled for a moment before continuing. "I was just stargazing when I heard you come my way." The last part was mostly said to himself but still could be heard, "I love the night."

Furrowing her brow a bit as she came out, Njozi was a little confused with the words of the male. It seemed odd to her, to begin to pose a perfectly understandable question, only to stop short at the end. Oh well, it form't really matter, so she didn't linger on it.
"Oh~! Why thank you." Looking back and forth at her paws as he complimented her, Njozi quickly looked back up at him with an embarrassed grin. Others had always told her that she was the most flashy of her litter, but she didn't like to think of herself that way; at least, not in comparison to others. "You've got quite the coat yourself." Giggling a little as she said it, she let her eyes linger just a while longer on the different splotches; he even had some stars scattered about within them. It was almost like stargazing, but on a much smaller scale.
"You stargaze too?!" Mouth dropping open slightly, Njozi almost jumped as she heard that. Never in all her life did she think she'd meet someone else who loved stargazing as much as she did. It was no wonder, then, that they ran into each other. "Aaaah, this makes me really happy." Wiggling back and forth on her paws, Njozi did a small dance of sorts, squeezing her eyes shut in her excitement. "Oh, gosh, I'm sorry! My name is Njozi." Feeling more than a little embarrassed at the fact that she had just acted like a small cub in front of someone else, Njozi was quick to change the subject. Now that she'd met someone else like her, she really wanted to get to know him.

"Why thank you as well," He grinned liking the complement. "I was recently told by an adorable cub that my fur looked like pieces of the sky had fallen on to me. As I both have stars and clouds which goes hand in hand with my name. Nuru'Nox as it means day and night. " He nodded his head at her stargazing question and found himself smiling brightly at her little dance of joy. "When I look at the stars I feel like myself~ It is very nice to meet you Njozi." He sheepishly laughed before continuing. "I must admit when I first heard you I thought you were a lost cub, but I am glad you weren't as this is much nicer than dealing with the worries of finding parents, etc."
He looked up just in time to watch a star streak across the night's sky. He would never tire of watching this display. "Marvelous, it simply amazes me. It's almost magical. There are many stories about those lights in the sky. Ancestors, other worlds, ghosts, etc. Oh you can call me either Nox or Nuru or both whatever you prefer. I don't mind." He tore his eyes away from the light show to grin at the female cheetah near him. "Please-" He gestured to the spot near him. "Would you care to join me?"

"I think that cub was quite right." Coming in quite close, Njozi tried to pick out different pieces; though it was hard due to the fact that it was night time. "I'll have to see you in the day to really appreciate it, though." Giving him a grin, she nudged him playfully.
"A...a cub?" Letting her mouth drop open slightly, Njozi was a little disheartened. She knew she could act like a cub sometimes - well, more often than not, actually - but now she even sounded like one? Great.
"You know it's...probably the most calming and majestic thing I've ever seen." Looking up at it, Njozi felt like she could forget all of her worries. She could stare at it for hours, letting her mind slip away into a soothing calm. "Though, I'm not sure if I'd want to try and define them. I feel like I'd be disappointed if I assigned it just one identity or story." Looking back at him, it felt nice talking to someone else about this. Most others didn't really care all that much about the sky or the stars; they were just happy in their regular daytime life.
"Aaaah~ decisions!" Wiggling back and forth a bit, Njozi couldn't decide what she'd rather call him. Both parts of his name were nice, so it was hard choosing. "How about Nox? Since I love the night the most." Twirling around, she plopped herself down on the ground right next to him. "And I'd love to join you."

He laughed with a cheeky wink. "Well you just might. Though rarely am I awake to be in the sunshine as I prefer to rest during the day." His eyes widen at her obvious horror at being referred to as a cub. Great. He never was good with dealing with females. Sweat started to appear as he became nervous. " I-I didn't mean for it to be insulting! Your voice is lovely! Truly, soft and cute." A faint pink stained the fur around his nose.
He gladly grasped the change in subject. "That is true I suppose, it would loose its lusture and something as big shouldn't be caterogized with one label." He turned to look at the wiggling female. She really was such a cutie, both delicate and bonus... she understood his love for the heavens. "Nox it is then~" A purr slipped out before he could stop it. This was nice. Laying under the stars with a beautiful female and enjoying her company. What more could a male ask for? Slowly and unsure of how she would react, he brush his tail up against hers. Nothing to inappropriate just a light caress.

"Aaah, same here. So maybe our schedules will line up just right." Closing her eyes as she smiled, Njozi couldn't believe she had found someone so much like her. It was comforting, knowing that she wasn't just some weirdo on the Savannah.
Freezing up a moment as he complimented her, Njozi could feel her face heat up. "T-t-that's okay. I-I-I mean, I act like a cub a lot, so..." Smiling shyly, any feeling of disappointment or disheartening was quickly washed away.
"Yeah!" Shifting away from it, Njozi could talk about the sky for hours and hours. Plus, what better partner could she have found to spend this evening with? Maybe it was fate that those colored like the sky would have a love for it; whatever it was, Njozi was even more thankful for it now as she stood next to this male.
"Oh!" Letting out a soft sound as he touched her, Njozi turned to look at him, at first with a slightly surprised expression. It changed, though, to a gentle smile almost as soon as she looked.

Nox silently let out a sigh as Njozi accepted his touch. He didn't want to be labeled a pervert afterall. His purred kicked-up a knotch. "Hmm." This was nice. The last thing he wanted was to be smacked away after this going so well. Content he moved closer for some warmth and comfort still watching the stars. A few he had named, which he told her. As the night wore on they had migrated even closer snuggled into one another. Who knew what this night would bring, but he did know one thing. This was one of the best nights of his life that would stay with him the rest of his days and he found it highly unlikely to run into another with as great a passion in stars as Njozi. END.
