It was hers, she had to have it. Pyrphora's eyes strained upwards to the branches above her, eying an apple that teased her just out of reach. Twenty minutes now she had been here, hopping and rearing back in an attempt to reach the delicious looking thing, only for it to scrape just past her. She was just too short to reach it, but her absolute desire for it pushed her to keep trying. Pyr could almost taste the fruit in her mouth, the sweet juice, the crunch on the first bite...

Okay, now she was just daydreaming.

She pranced under the bough of the tree, braids flip-flopped over the wrong sides on her neck as she continued her little dance and restarted her work to get that apple. There wasn't a ripe one left on the trees for a long ways in any direction, and there was no way she planned to leave this one here.

"Why do you... have to.. be just out of reach?" she glowered, her front hoof kicking out as again the fruit eluded her. She wasn't sure how it had even survived this long untouched by other soquili... though if they were all as vertically challenged as she, Pyr could understand that.

Step after step, Keahi's mind couldn't help but wander as he walked, with no aim in mind at all. It was in his nature to do things more spur-of-the-moment, but right now, there were no moments to be spurred. His long braid was gently draped across his back, so he wouldn't trip over it in case something did catch his eye. Though, in this area, that seemed rather doubtful.

It was a nice area and all, but really? Really? There hadn't been a single abnormal or exciting thing happening since he wandered into this area. It was all too....perfect. And a stallion like Keahi found perfect just absolutely...dull. There had to be something else, like a secret spark in the background or some oddity that made it unique.

And what? What was this? Focusing his eyes in front of him, Keahi saw the figure of another, reared back on its legs, apparently reaching for something above it. It seemed more slender than he, with a more intricately done-up mane than his own. Must be a mare. Even without knowing that, though, his heart was lifted a little; another horse meant a chance at breaking away from this all-too-happy landscape. Bringing his head up, he shook his braid from his back, straightening his shoulders as he walked towards the other. As he came in closer, he noticed what it was exactly that the other was reaching for - an apple. Oh, good, a conversation starter.

As he came in closer, it was easy to see that Keahi was larger; his body was large even compared to other stallions. Shuffling his hooves on the ground, he hoped he wasn't coming across as rude as he reared up, knocking his antlers against the branch, shaking the apple free. "Is this what you were after?" Giving a shy smile, he hoped that this other was that special something that would give a little excitement to this place.

(( Aah no problem! <33 ))

Pyrphora had been so involved with her apple hunt that she hadn't heard the stallion approach her. In fact, it wasn't until he reached in with his antlers and knocked her prize from the tree that she had noticed his arrival. She turned to him, slightly startled before a broad smile worked its way across her face. "Yes, thank you!" she pawed at the apple to pull it closer to her, reaching down to bite half of it off. It was, of course, as delicious as she had hoped it was. Chewing down what was left in her mouth, she turned back to the new arrival.

"I don't know how long I've been sitting here trying to get that thing, but unless I suddenly sprouted wings to fly up there I don't think I was going to get it anytime soon." She gestured below to the other half of the offending fruit. "You can have the other half, since you got it down for me."

She really had wanted the whole thing, but it'd be rude of her not to share, especially after this stranger had helped her knock it down! Pyr took a moment to eye him, noting his heavy build, the antlers... bright coat, too. She was surprised she hadn't seen him coming, now that she thought about it. Inwardly she shrugged; he certainly wasn't dangerous, at least. There wasn't much in this orchard that was dangerous, let alone interesting. She assumed that he probably felt the same way. Until she had seen that single apple, there had been nothing but perfectly planted trees for at least a mile.

"Well, I'm glad these things could be of some use." Leaning his head down a little, he shook, twisting his antlers back and forth in the air a little while. As much as he liked them, they really had never had much of a chance to shine. Until now, apparently.

"My my, how kind of you." Grinning, he leaned down, picking the apple up quickly, tossing it in the air a little above his head before chomping down on it as it passed by his face. While he had bee the one to reach the apple, he hadn't really been expecting any of it in return for his services.

"So did you come here just to hunt apples? Or are you in this...area for any special reason?" He looked around for a few moments, squinting his eyes a bit. Yeah, this place was too eerily perfect for him. Bringing his eyes back to the mare, he finally gave her a bit of a look-over; something he hadn't been all-too focused on as he first approached her. Her braided mane looked much nicer done than his own, though he did have a longer one. Instead of being caught up in that, though, his eyes were more attracted to the markings that littered her back and legs; they were lovely, and something he hadn't seen before.

Kind was something Pyr usually was, if not bouncing off the walls and running off to her next destination. Her grin widened. She had never thought about how useful antlers might have been, though now that she got a good look at the pair on this stallion's head she realized they must be quite useful! If you had an itch you couldn't quite reach, or maybe if you needed to reach something up high.. yes, quite useful.

"Well apples are a reason to go anywhere at all, aren't they?" She shook her forelock from her eyes. "But no, not really, I stumbled across this orchard on my way through this valley and of course had to stop for a snack." Pyr snorted.

"It's pretty creepy though, now that I'm actually looking at it. I wish my brain had directed me and not just my stomach." She rolled her eyes at herself and glanced the way the other had come, seeing the same picture-perfect scenery she had seen coming from the opposite direction. Weird.

"Pyrphora," she said suddenly, eyes turning back to him, "I'm Pyrphora. Or Pyr, actually. Either is okay." She offered another grin. "Should we get ourselves out of this place?"

"Well..." Keahi's eyes trailed off for a moment; while he did enjoy apples completely, he wouldn't follow them just anywhere. "I suppose they could be." Laughing it off, he figured it was mostly his own laziness that prevented him from seeking such things out. He was much more fond of the 'happy stumble upon' method. "Oh, wow, I'm...so glad someone else sees it!" Rearing up slightly, Keahi was a little relieved that he wasn't the only one who thought that this place was a little too happy-happy.

"Your stomach must lead you to some pretty interesting places, miss Pyrphora." Giving her a grin, he gave her an inquisitive look, with one of his brows raised. It was better, though, than his way of traveling; just go where your hooves take you, and follow the sunset. And even then, he didn't always stick to it. If something caught his fancy, he'd stick around in a certain place for a little while, until it became a bit too familiar for his liking.

"Um. I'm thinking yes. Definitely." Letting out another laugh, Keahi liked how like-minded the two of them were, so far, apparently. She seemed pretty easy to get along with, too, so he wouldn't mind sticking around for a little while longer. As long as it didn't involve this creepy orchard.

"Oh, it's Keahi, by the way." Shaking his head to the side, he shifted the bulk of his braid, knocking it away from his hooves.

"Occasionally it does," Pyr replied, still eying the branches in hopes that another well-placed apple would find its way into her path, "Though mostly my brain takes me to interesting places! Sometimes I can't shut it off, it just tells me to go and to go, and I just follow it. I'm sure you'll believe that its how I stumbled across this place." Her eyes roamed the neatly arranged trees again, just waiting for some weird thing to happen. Maybe humans tended this place and any moment they'd pop out of the bushes. Or perhaps... dare she think it? Perhaps it was a witch, and they were just both stuck under her spells! She nearly laughed at the thought, but realized how silly that would make her look.

"Keahi, Keahi, excellent to meet you," her eyes flickered to watch the muscles ripple under his pelt as he walked alongside her. Her pace quickened to keep up with his long strides, her tiny braids bouncing against her neck. "So tell me, Keahi, where are you from? Traveling long distance or just out for a stroll?" It was simple talk, yes, but Pyr was notorious for being an information sponge. She needed to know everything, just to know it. Besides, he was certainly friendly! She liked his company, he was easy to talk to and seemed good-natured, to boot.

"Doesn't that get in the way at all?" she finally asked, nodding at his braided mane as he shifted it. "I could never do mine that long, too many places to be and too much hair to get in the way."

"Gotta love a girl with brains." Chuckling a little as he said it, his words definitely rang true with Keahi; while he loved the spunk of a lot of 'airheaded' mares, he liked for there to be something more underneath, since he himself wasn't all-that much of an idiot. Though, this mare seemed to have a pretty good mix of both.

Feeling a slight tickle as she said his name, he looked back at her, seeing her braids bounce to and fro. "I..." Getting himself a bit distracted by her for a moment, he stuttered a bit before coming back to the conversation. "I'm not really from anywhere in particular; though I tend to stay near the edge of the forest a bit more often than naught." At this point in his life, he couldn't quite remember where his family was from, only that he had ended up in that general area. It seemed like he fit a bit more there, too, with his antlers and all. "So it's not all that far of a stretch."

"It....sometimes can, but I've gotten pretty used to it." Keahi couldn't help but smile as she asked. It was true, his mane was longer than most females, but he kinda liked it that way. And he had gotten so used to either wrapping it up in his antlers or thrusting it over his back that he hardly noticed any problems with it. "If it wasn't braided, though, I think I'd go crazy. I wish I could do as many braids as are in yours; it's really cute."
