No Daphne was not that kinky but considering the state of her at the moment that her phone finally buzzed with a response from someone, blood was probably going to be involved no matter what. There were six stitches in her right forearm and eleven in her right shoulder which were utterly agonizing with every extension of her arm, dulled by the delightful mixture of prescription painkillers and vodka cheap enough to take stain off a table. s**t that bad was bound to give you a decent buzz and was also less likely to kill you when mixed -- it was amazing the kind of things you learned in the Negaverse.
Glancing blearily down, the bluenette sat up fast enough to pull at her stitches and wince. Coming? Kess was coming? There was a moment where Daphne wondered how utterly like s**t she looked then realized she didn't much care. It was late enough that whatever Kess was coming over for she didn't have to look like a fashion plate. She was rumpled but clean, a little bit drunk, and lonely as hell. Fleeing the disastrous battle after that pointless meeting of the White Moon forces she felt rather alone, her future bleak as the Negaverse was not going to tolerate her walking around much longer.
What a bummer. And the bottle was still missing! Well Kess was coming over and spending time with the lively, if laid-back Kess was better for her than dulling the edges could be. Nothing was ever better than good company in Daphne's mind.

Kess didn't bother to knock, instead snagging the spare key from its hiding place outside the back door. At this point, she really should've kept a copy, but neither one of them talked about that kind of thing. Stomping her way in, she made no effort to be quiet, instead letting the door slam shut behind her fit, bruised body and getting a beer from the fridge.
"Daph!" It was a shout, directed up the stairway. "I'm here! Need anything?" As she passed through the kitchen, she caught a reflection of herself. Not too bad. Nose still bruised up, but more like a punch from her kickboxing, or maybe a street fight... It'd be fine.
When she hit the bottom of the stairs, her foot hit a half empty bottle. Uh oh. "Daaaaph?" Stooping to pick it up, she jogged her way up the stairs and into the girl's bedroom.
It was dark, but there she was. "Hey, you," She grinned, dark eyes flicking over the girl. After a moment of examination, though, her mind began to race, despite the smile. Daphne seemed strung out, something more than booze, or exhaustion, and... "Y'alright?" Kess leaned in to give her a kiss. A long one. Daphne sure had lips to text home about.

If Daphne had known that Kess hadn't just taken the key by the back door at this point she would have been surprised. Of course it was the blonde's choice whether or not to take the key and there was no pressure inherent in a key hidden for the express purpose of visitors of a casual nature; she'd take it if she wanted it and that was that. Kess calling up the stairs had the bluenette grinning from her nest in the big bed that had been sitting in the young woman's bedroom since she'd turned thirteen, adamantly outgrowing what was now the animal-filled daybed along the wall. What she wanted was for Freckles to get her a** up there already, so she kept silent.
"Heyyyy~" Oh lord was her voice that slurred? It took the knight's brain a moment to catch up to what was actually going on so that Kess was about to pull away, fingers snagging her shirt. "Uh-uh. Hang on just a minute." She'd heard that her lips were great but it was mostly her tongue that Daphne thought that someone could have written a ballad about, she had practiced! Releasing the hoodie when she was good and ready she shifted and winced a bit. "Cheap vodka and basic painkillers, hell of a slurry combo. I think that's the only reason I'm watchin' this bullshit."
Patting around the bed she eventually came up with a remote to shut off the offensive sci-fi flick about such stupid things as 'freeing your mind' and a world created by machines, reality a lie. If this reality was a lie could it please stop hurting so damn much? "Was walkin' home, someone busted out a window, got rained on with the glass and had to get stitches. ******** hurts." Apparently the bluenette was horribly eloquent when under the influence, looking up at Kess and randomly giggling.
"You missed the game."

"Mmn." Kess didn't resist the tug, lingering until Daphne was done with her [for now], snagging the remote and tossing it across the room. Painkillers? Vodka?
A glass ******** window? Oh, Daphne.
If that wasn't a lie, Kess wasn't Howlite. Which she wasn't, of course, if anyone asked. The lanky blonde said nothing, instead running her fingertips along the blunette's neckline, gently lifting the shirt back to catch a glimpse of fresh stitching.
"Girl," her voice was soft, and slowly humor found its way in, to relax them both. "... I hate missing games." None of the texts had said anything about this, and Kess was doing an awful good job of keeping her breathing even, despite the uneasy feeling in her stomach. At least Daph was too out of it to say anything about her bruised face.

Yeah she was pretty sure that Kess wasn't buying any little bit of it. There were a whole lot of things that glamour could cover up, things that they could disguise, but scars on a body weren't really one of them. Beneath her uniform Lina did not have scars but Daphne very much had marks all over her body from several wounds as well as her various surgeries from that awful night over a year ago as Linarite, the beginning of the end for her. Kess had seen all of her scars, touched every single one of them, even gone a little bit further than that in a few places but had never asked much for which her partner was grateful.
There was no way that she was going to buy that Daphne was unlucky enough to walk beneath a glass window as it shattered so perfectly as to gouge at her body like a ******** serrated blade. There were a few bruises that Kess would recognize immediately as well but neither of the pair knew that it was going to be a problem, namely the one on the side of the girl's face at her temple from Howlite's initial blow.
Relieved that questions were not going to be forthcoming for with her tongue and brain as muddled as they were, Daphne wasn't sure she could keep from slipping out some of the truth, she shrugged and winced a bit. "Ughhh, gotta remember I can't be doin' that. I texted you to letcha know that I was playing and waiting! Noooot my fault." Lightly a finger poked at Kess, then once more, snagging her by the pocket with a finger for another kiss.
"It was a woozydoozy!" More laughter because Daphne, under the influence, was prone to laugh like an idiot. "I hate this ******** movie, it's awwwwful. You're a hero, baby, isn't that great?" Didn't everyone want to be a hero? She'd been one unwittingly even after saying she wasn't interested, betraying that little bit of human nature earlier. That caused the ocean-haired teen to frown a bit as her mind tripped back through the horrible night.

On any other night, she'd have dismissed it. Maybe Daphne was in a female fight club. Who knew. Tonight? There was only one truly feasible place to have gotten so torn up.
Another kiss, and Kess let herself be distracted by her own thoughts.
"Yeah, boo." Fingertips trailed their way up the nape of Daphne's neck, burrowing into thick blue hair. Blowing her own pale bangs from her dark eyes, Kess raised her brows. "You sure I should be here, Daph?" A split second later, and she laughed.
"Don't answer that." Instead, Kess pulled off the hoodie she'd so recently put on, reasonably sure that Daphne wouldn't notice too many of the bruises and scrapes.

Oh goodie! That was the reaction that lit up not only Daph's mind but her face as well when the hoodie was hauled off, meaning that Kess was settling in to stay for at least a few hours. Maybe her shoes would eventually come off, that always heralded good things for them didn't it? Certainly she wasn't going to ask what was regarded as a painfully redundant question! It could have been perhaps a totally loaded question with 'here' being a pile of metaphorical places that the shorter girl didn't have enough brainpower to analyze in the moment. In the morning she probably would have forgotten the question entirely as well, which was perhaps fortunate.
Fingers sunk into her hair so she made a sound that very much registered as 'happy' on the emotional scale, her own fingers tracing the edge of one of the more obvious scrapes. It would have been right where a part of Howlite's armor had been ineffective against Princess Iris' attack and long after Lina Knight had fled the scene of the battle, a raw red strip of skin that could have been road rash. Having followed her around town like a creepy stalker several times and having saved her once from thugs it didn't seem unreasonable for there to be bruises and scrapes on top of freckles.
Definitely not when she was under the influence.
Flopping on her back, Daphne pulled the other girl with her. "Just stay." It wasn't an answer, it was an independent statement reinforcing what were, to her, obvious feelings. She cared about Kess more than Kess probably wanted her to but that was okay really on both fronts; she knew Kess cared more than Kess probably wanted to.

"A'ight, cool your jets." Kess' laugh was quiet, more air than sound, and she did give in to Daphne's unspoken wish, pushing off each sneaker with the opposite foot and letting them fall off the bed. She'd kick it until the morning, and leave while the blunette slept in. That wasn't a rarity, and it wouldn't strike her as odd in the slightest.
In the meantime, Daphne would get what she'd invited Kess over for. Or, at least, some of them. After all, it might be one of the last chances the blonde had to touch those scars.
"C'mere." What else did they need to talk about? Nothing came to mind.

No, after the night she'd had talking was the absolute last thing that Daphne had in mind for any sort of situation. Kess could've wanted to talk about the plotline of the latest and most awesome video game on the planet, Daph still wouldn't have much wanted to put energy into it. As it was this was probably going to be one of the more lazy, less energetic of their pursuits but it was actually....sweet. Almost bittersweet at one point but that could have been the effects of the drugs or alcohol distorting things so that the bluenette didn't know which way was up.
Something warm and soft was up against her chest when the bluenette stirred in bed, hissing at the fact her arm felt like it had been nearly severed from her body. Climbing her way out of unconsciousness to find out that the fuzzy something was one of the many stuffed owls that usually littered her room instead of Kess (phew) and remembering that her arm had been in a botched amputation was a shitty way to wake up in the morning. Daphne did what anyone sane would have done, closing her eyes and quietly talking to herself.
"Nope, bad day, time to hit reset. This was all some kind of crap dream so I'm going to wake up." Yeah, that never worked. She tried that one at least a few times a week to no effect. Kess was gone, nothing new, and her body ached not at all in the good way. Inspecting her stitches, sighing at the spots of blood on the bed where she'd bled through them in the night, a hand groped for the painkillers on the bedside table.
It was going to be a hell of a day.
