★Now shut up and listen...★
❤Mistress Mockery is speaking❤

{cam if i posted this in the wrong spot please move it}

not many know what PMDD is. well allow me to shed abit of light on it, as i suffer from it, not fun lemme tell ya. but here is a link to what it Premenstrual dysphoric disorder is all about.

"Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a severe form of premenstrual syndrome, afflicting 3% to 8% of women. It is a diagnosis associated primarily with the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. Up to one-third of women diagnosed with PMDD report residual symptoms into the first 2 or 3 days of the follicular phase."

i was told that i have this last november and promptly put on Zoloft for it, and am going back in november to see the doc and get my med up'ed abit. i have mini nervous breakdowns from time to time which can lead me to either yelling/screaming at someone or going all depressive. i kinda hold my emotions in too long and wen its that that time {if you know what i mean} sometimes it all let loose and i ended up running to my aunt for support and all that jazz till things get better. it doesnt happen often but wen it does theres no warning no nothing just BOOM goes of like TNT. i really dont know how else to explain it. its not the greatest thing in the world to deal with

anyway these are the symptoms i suffer from {that i know of anyway}

1}feelings of intense tension or anxiety
2}increased intense sensitivity to rejection or criticism
3}panic attacks
4}rapid and severe mood swings, bouts of uncontrollable crying
5}lasting irritability or anger, increased interpersonal conflicts; typically sufferers are unaware of the impact they have on those close to them
6}feeling overwhelmed or feelings of being out of control

like i said im on zoloft for it but i do have ways of dealing with it, aka PS3 or change of scenery, or listening to music and things like that always help. i know theres no sure fire cure for it but im hoping that maybe one day they can learn more about it and help get an even better med for us who suffer from it so we can try to lead our somewhat normal lifes again.

I'm "lucky" in a sense that I only get paralyzing pains for the first few days and mild irritation towards everything but I have a friend who has PMDD and I know that it's really not the easiest thing to cope with. So do you need to take the meds all the time or only when it starts to hit you?

I haven't been in this subforum for ever...

I have PMDD too! I didn't know what it was for the longest time. I thought there was something really wrong with me, like I was crazy. The man I was dating at the time (about 2007) thought I was crazy and together with an agreeable-to-everything doctor had me believing a misdiagnosis of bipolar disorder. That ******** my life up for about a year, then I finally broke up with the loser.

Surprise suprise, without his emotional and physical abuse, I got better! Since I wasn't seen anyone at the time, I went off hormonal birth control. I also went off the anti-depressants and anti-psychotics I had been prescribed. I started being nicer to myself and hating myself less since I didn't have that constant negative voice.

Anyway... it came to light after seeing another doctor that I'm not biploar, and it's a nasty case of PMDD. Basically I can manage it just fine if I stay off birth control, don't eat junk food and sleep enough.

I also know from tracking my cycle that my worst mood swings come between days 12 ans 14 of cycle. So if I suddenly feel like killing myself and/or everyone else I just look at the calendar. 90% of the time when I feel like that it's the magic day so I'm able to forgive myself for being crazy, and just crawl under a blanket with a book and hide the day out the best I can.

So that's my story!

Yeah, I think cutting out junk food is a good move! I mean, some of that stuff is so processed it's not really even food anymore, is it? And there's all this stuff about HFCS causing all sorts of weird health problems. I try to eat as many whole foods as possible. But that's not always totally possible. I'm lucky I can get by without any meds.

And I just reminded myself I forgot my multivitamin today! surprised
