{Wishes Come True} :an rp between Esha (Mia Lavinia) and Amun (manga_artist303)
Glade:: Illumision Fields
Setting:: On other glades, it would be twilight hour, but as always, on Illumision it's a clear, starry night, and the temperature is moderate. Tonight is the night for a fated meeting..

This is a continuation of Esha's Mother's Day wish, and the subsequent RP contest.

Mia Lavinia
Little Esha had heard that sometimes, stars would grant your heart's fondest wish. While it was a somewhat childish notion, she found it a wonderful thought. She'd never wished on a star yet, as she wanted to be absolutely certain of what she wanted before she did so. She wouldn't want to bother the stars with silly nonsense, no no! Only the most special and important wish would do.
Tonight, she lay on her usual rock in the middle of her favorite flower field. She noticed a few shooting stars in the corner of her eye, and turned her head slightly. Then, her gaze fixed on a star that shone much brighter than even the North Star. Was this the special star she had been waiting for? She had finally discovered the thing she wished for the most in all of the world.

Slowly, she sat up, sweeping her hair out of her face with one paw, turning to fully face the bright star she was gazing upon. Her heart pounding a little, she crossed her paws in front of her.
"Oh, star.. I have a wish I would give anything to have come true", she thought, being unable to speak but trusting that the star would understand her. "I dearly wish I had someone, someone by my side to share the nights with, someone to curl up beside in my den when the dawn breaks.." her eyes slowly welled up, for being nocturnal did indeed often mean a life of solitude. She had an elder sister who shared this trait, and she had been lucky enough to find a kindred spirit, and they'd been blessed with numerous offspring. "I wish I had a life even a little like my sister's - a mate and eventually a family of my own, for it's lonely like this.."

A single tear rolled down the Spica's cheek, falling onto her paw.
"Being mute, it's very difficult to even make friends. Oh, kind little star, please let me meet someone I could communicate with even without words. I wish to love, and be loved. I want nothing more in the entire world", she sniffled silently, wiping her eyes, laying back down on the rock, her gaze still fixed on the star. She smiled faintly, her tears drying slowly as she remained still for a while longer, hopeful that her wish would come true eventually.

The star sighed as it listened to the endless stream of wishes that met it ears, each one louder and more selfish than the last. Just as it was about to dim its light and end the stream of requests, a meek, quiet wish began. The star twinkled as it fixed its full attention on the pure, heartfelt wish. 'This,' it decided, 'is the wish I'll grant.' But how to grant it? It could not force another Gladier to love her. And few of the males also wishing for love met even one of the requested traits. Someone nocturnal that would both love and understand the mute female... 'Ugh. It would almost be easier to do it myself.' The star paused, expounding on the thought. Well, why didn't it? The star didn't enjoy the meticulous wish-granting as much as it would've liked; there were simply too many greedy, selfish, and downright strange wishes. And it had always wondered what it would be like, to live down there...

'It's decided, then.' It--no, he--would fulfill the wish himself. He would be the answer to Esha's request.

The wishing star dropped from the night sky, leaving no trace behind to show it had ever been there.

A thunderous sound erupted from the ground as the wishing star crashed into it, dirt flying through the air at the edge of Esha's flower field. The star-turned-Gladier groaned in the little crater the impact had made, trying to get to his feet as the light of his former life dissipated. 'Jello,' he thought wearily as he collapsed against the side of the crater, unable to find the strength to climb out. 'My legs feel like jello.' This nasea would pass, wouldn't it? He wouldn't feel like this all the time, right?

Amun turned his attention to the silent Gladier peering wide-eyed into his crater, smiling weakly at her. "Hello," he managed to croak, his throat caked with dust. He coughed few times before continuing, his orange eyes trying to keep their focus. "I don't suppose you'd believe me if I told you I was a wishing star, would you?"

Esha had been lying on her rock for a while already when suddenly it seemed like one of the brightest stars in the sky fell. Fell right into the field of flowers, some distance from her. She had of course seen shooting stars plenty of times by now, but never, ever had a star just fallen in front of her eyes - somewhere where she could see it, at least!

Both curious and alarmed, the female got up and with the aid of her little wings, darted over to the point of impact. Little heart pounding, her markings pulsating just as wildly, she peered over the edge into the crater. What she saw wasn't a meteor at all - it was another gladier, just like her! The male had dark fur, slightly paler than hers, softly glowing markings like her, and he seemed a little.. dizzy. And then he spoke to her, his tone rather warm, and as if he was already somehow familiar with her.

"A wishing star? Him? I--" she wondered, her purple eyes widely staring into the two orange orbs below her. She started to slowly shake her head, but then abruptly moved her chin down into a nod instead.

"As weird -- as absurd -- as this seems.. he doesn't sound like he's lying.. is he my star?" the female then thought, offering her paw to the male to help him out of the pit. The edges were rather steep, after all. "He must have fallen from a great height, and I'm not sure he can use his wings so soon after a collision like that", Esha concluded. And besides, it was just common courtesy to help someone in a situation like this.

"Yes, that's me," Amun replied to her silent question as he accepted the offered paw. He knew she was mute, but he could still hear her as clear as day. At her comment about his wings, he glanced back at them. "Hmm... I suppose not." He smiled sheepishly. "I am still trying to get my paws to work." Blinking, he realized something. "Ah! How rude of me. I am Amun." He smiled brightly. "It's nice to meet you in person, Esha."

The female's eyes widened even further. "Y-y-you can hear me?" she silently questioned, bewildered. With one final heave, she at last managed to pull the male out of his crater. She simply stared at him for a few moments, blinking, still in disbelief.
"You even know my name..?!" she then realized he'd addressed her. "N-nice to meet you too, Amun.. this will take a little to get used to.. I've never met anybody else that can read minds", she thought, smiling sheepishly back at the male. His name had a nice ring to it, in her opinion.

As strange and unexpected as this was, the female couldn't help but feel happy. She finally had someone she could converse with!

Amun just laid at the edge of the crater and looked up at her politely, as he couldn't seem to get his new Gladier body moving properly yet. "Yes, I can hear you." He smiled brightly. "I wouldn't have heard your wish if I couldn't. Though I can't hear anyone else now..." He blinked and blushed after her final comment. "O-oh, erm... I g'ess 'tis not norm'l t' rea' 'inds, 's 't? A' 's kno'ng s'me'ne's nam' bef're me't'n' t'm..." When he noticed his speech had deteriorated, his face went scarlet. "Ah, I ap-pologize," he stammered, "I have a bad habit of rambling when nervous..." To which he quickly added, "Not that you make me nervous. This is all is just so..." He looked up at the night sky as he spoke. What he saw almost cut his sentence short. "...new..." He stared at the twinkling lights in the dark sky, his orange eyes filled with innocent wonder. "Did I... look like that?" he whispered, as if speaking loudly would make the spectacle disappear.

Esha couldn't help but smile with amusement over how flustered Amun seemed. There was no mockery in her glee, though - it was rather endearing to see somebody so genuinely new to everything around him. A newborn kit couldn't express itself as elaborately, but she was sure the feelings he had were similar to that.

She shook her head slightly. "It certainly isn't very common to read minds", she concluded, "but I should be glad you can hear my thoughts.. so at least with you I'll be able to have almost normal conversations -- you can't even imagine how lonely it is, not having anyone who would understand what you're trying to say..
I don't mind rambling either, I can still more or less figure out what you're saying."

Timidly she brought one paw closer to his, gazing up as well. "They really are beautiful, aren't they? The stars.." she let out a soft, silent sigh. "What was it like, up there? I can't fly high enough to even imagine."

Amun looked at Esha when she responded, as if she were speaking like everyone else did. His expression visibly brightened when she said that she was glad he could hear her thoughts and that she didn't mind his rambling; likewise, his expression saddened at the comment about her loneliness.

"Yeah, they are." He blinked when she asked him a question. "What was it like? Well..." He gazed at the stars for a few moments before looking at her. "Spacious. The other stars were closer to me than they are now, but they were still rather distant. It would be like..." He glanced around and gestured toward the other end of the field. "You being in a tree all the way over there. It was dark... but also bright at the same time. Similar to those... ah..." Amun struggled to think of the word. "Erm... those events with the lanterns hanging up everywhere?" He let the paw he gestured with drop to rest by Esha's. "The world appeared so much smaller," he added after a moment. "It was so far away... I didn't realize there was so much of it." Amun smiled brightly at the mute female. "I've only gotten to see a little bit of it and I'm already amazed."

The female kept glancing up at the stars, then back at Amun as he spoke. She nodded here and there, taking in what he told her. "The world seems so big to me. There are so many glades, I haven't even been to all of them yet.. and all this seemed small to you? That's almost impossible for me to imagine!" she admitted with awe. Then again, being a star must have been lonely in itself, as well. All of their brethren being scattered across the heavens, twinkling at each other countless leagues away from their nearest friend.

"We could go exploring together.." she mused then. "I mostly stay on this glade because it's always nighttime.. I can sleep or be awake whenever. I'm not very fond of daylight.. it's so harsh on my eyes. Everyone in my family has always been like this. We favor the softer light of the moon and stars." she smiled shyly at Amun, happy to have the company she had wished for for so long. She hoped he'd stay with her forever, she wanted to get to know her new friend better.

"Things look smaller when they're farther away." Amun smiled. "Now that I'm here, it seems like it goes on forever." At Esha's proposal to go exploring together, the ex-star's face lit up. "That sounds wonderful!" He waited until she finished speaking to continue. "Um... The stars and moon I understand, but... what's the sun?" He'd heard the term used before, but he'd never quite figured out what it meant. It was usually mentioned in terms of beauty or warmth or smiles... all three of which Amun thought of as he saw Esha's shy smile.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 19, 2012 2:55 am

Esha stopped to ponder for a moment. Indeed, the sun was just another star, wasn't it? It was just much closer in comparison to the rest, and the world of Feirion happened to orbit the one she was referring to.

"Oh, um.. the sun is another star, too, it's just a word used for one that's closer and brighter, giving a world night and day as it revolves.." she explained to the former star to the best of her abilities. "I.. don't think all stars have.. what's the word.. planets! Yes, planets, um.. orbiting them.. but the ones that do have one or more, are called suns - or so I've understood." At this point she was mostly just citing what she had heard older, wiser gladiers say when she was younger, and she was hoping she remembered everything right.

She looked at Amun again meekly, hoping her explanation made at least some sense to him.

Amun listened to her explanation before attempting to sum it up. "Basically, the sun's a star that's closer and looks different from the other ones, so it was given a different name?" He smiled. "It makes sense." The Gladier slowly got to his feet, his legs wobbling with the effort. "I guess I should figure out how to stay upright if we're going to explore," he said with a sheepish smile.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 19, 2012 3:56 am

She nodded to confirm his question. "Yeah, that would pretty much be it."

She stood up, keeping her eyes on Amun. "Take your time, at least it's safe and quiet here so you can get used to your legs and wings", the female remarked in her mind.
He really was almost like a kit, trying to learn to control his limbs.

Esha took a few steps and then turned around to face the male again, smiling reassuringly.

"Alright." Amun watched her walk, then tried to copy the motion. He instinctively spread his wings to try and keep himself balanced as he took a wobbly step forward. Then a second and a third. But he lifted his gaze to smile at Esha on the next step. He tripped over his own feet and tumbled the rest of the way to the female. He removed his face from the ground, shaking his head. "Dirt doesn't taste good," he informed Esha as he slowly got to his feet again. He tried again, taking a few steps away from the female before stopping. Amun tried to turn around, but ended up on his back. "This gets easier, doesn't it?" he asked, looking up at the sky before rolling onto his side. It would be hard to explore if he had trouble with even simple movements.

Esha would flit around playfully, almost a little teasingly, all the while smiling gently to encourage her companion to keep trying.

"Everybody has trouble at first.. but of course one would usually start out as a kit.. you have to learn everything as an adult. But it does get easier, don't worry", she reassured him.

"I'm not in a hurry.. the night is young so we can stay here as long as you need. Once you can control your feet we can practice flying. I can't go very high, either.. but it's enough to reach the branches of trees", she explained. It's not like the Spicae were birds, after all. Their wings were relatively small, so they were only good for short flights.

Amun didn't like her playful teasing, but he couldn't find it in him to get mad at her. "Right..." Of course. Physically and mentally he was an adult, but in terms of experience, he was a kit. He smiled as he pulled himself back onto his feet. "It is good this gets easier. If it didn't, I don't think I would get more than ten feet before I got too bruised to explore." He looked at Esha and nodded. "Alright." He looked at his wobbling legs, then at Esha again before glancing down and shifting the positioning of his feet. The former star nearly fell again, but his paw shot out and saved him. He sighed in relief, then fixed his stance again. Well, now he felt a little more stable at least. Amun slowly started forward again, this time getting to Esha. He beamed, tail wagging until he tried to turn again--and ended up in the dirt again. He gave an irritated grunt, trying to uncross and free the paws that were pinned underneath him. It took a minute, but he finally rolled himself onto his side and fixed the problem. "Changing direction is difficult," he reported as he hauled himself upright again, trying not to sway and wobble. "My paws keep trying to tangle."
