Madeline was going to drive herself crazy if she played another round of poker with a sentient creature living in her head.
So, with that thought in mind, the girl had taken to exercise in between nights spent pouring over old comics and vintage cards, playing go-fish and blackjack with Arsenios, and when that got boring, making up new games that ended in a mixture of swearing and viciously empty threats. The girl had spent the day mulling around the training areas, and after that, picking through the halls of the main HQ. It felt like a hive of information, and unfortunately, she couldn't swallow it all in one go.
So instead, she resorted to jogging back to the dorms, feet crunching over dirt and gravel to the sound of a song in her head. She'd rolled the sleeves of her jacket up to her elbows, wearing little more than a loose batman-logo shirt and shorts underneath. The jog was fast paced, and by the time the dormitories came into view, she was short of breath and slick with sweat. But aw hell, it had to be good for her - she'd be damn near useless to everyone she'd yet to meet around here with noodle arms and noodle legs. Slowing to a halt, Madeline looked around, beginning to pad slowly back towards the looming building. "I wonder of anyone's around," She muttered, "I want to meet more - um - " The girl dragged the back of her coat around to stare at the symbol, "guys n' dolls from sun division. Well." She snorted. "Any division."
An exasperated sigh followed her babble to what seemed like no one, echoing in her head. ( Thoughts work just fine, sugar, I can hear you loud and clear without you openin' your mouth. )
Madeline rolled her eyes. Of course he could.
( omg sorry for crappy intro post q___q )

"Ah- AH- FRICKIN'-!" One of the emergency exit-doors close to the portal room had been propped open and re-plugged with what seemed to be the underside of a sofa. No sooner had the man on the other side managed to kick it free again, the massive piece of furniture tottered backward from whence it came with a crash and a yelp. All-in-all, Jerry reflected as he tried to catch his breath under the thing, it had been a good find. The next time he did a run he would need to locate help or a dolly first, though.

Not one to be surprised by many things, Madeline took the stranded couch in stride, and when it talked... well.
( Dont worry, I'm pretty sure talking couches aren't dangerous, sugar. ) Arsenios barked when she'd recovered enough from her minor JESUS-CHRIST-ITS-ALIVE-ITS-A-TALKING-COUCH to take a closer look.
Oh, there was a person under there. How... enlightening. Crouching beside the mammoth couch, Madeline tilted herself sideways enough to catch sight of - um, a man? it was kind of hard to tell what with the giant furniture in the way - and coughed before grinning. "Not to assume anything, doll," She said by way of hello, "but you look like you could use a hand."

"Ah- oh, th-thank you!" The man gasped, groaning as he managed to tip the heavy couch up and try to wriggle out from under it, letting it drop again with a thunk. "I found it on a street corner, isn't it great??" He was a tall, lanky man in his late twenties, a brown suit that constituted as his "street clothes", and a desperate need for a haircut. He was positively shaggy. He leaned over the upside-down piece of furniture to offer a hand and a grin, pushing his glasses up on his burn-scar riddled face, "Jerry. Jerry Collins Su- oh! You're Sun division too!" He lit up at the sight of the symbols on her coat, beaming brighter if it was possible.

Settling back onto her heels when the couch moved and a tall, lanky man wiggled his way out, Madeline crossed her arms, a wry grin spreading across her face. "Well, as they say, one mans junk is another mans treasure." She rubbed an appreciative hand over the old furniture. "Or something like that." Madeline added wryly, glancing back at the positively shaggy man. Leaning her elbows on the back of the couch, she stuck out her own hand, swiping up Jerry's in a strong, exuberant shake. "Sup, I'm Madeline." She returned with a curious look, blinking at the comment and laughing, her smile turning into a voracious grin. "Yeah! You too? I'm - uh - new to this whole place." She shrugged helplessly. "It's nice to meet another in the same Division. Well... in general."
She glanced down at the furniture, tapping a nail along it. "So where are we movin' this?"

"Second floor in the dorms. I was just promoted," He beamed a bit proudly. "Er... welcome awake! Ahahaha, if you help me get this thing up there I'll repay you with a soda or something? I haven't seen you around, you must really be new! Do you like music at all?" This last quest was blurted out with utmost importance.

"Oh!" Madeline blinked at his scars, and then beamed right back at him. "Congrats, boyo." Leaning down, she hooked her fingers under the couch and worked to heft her side up, waiting on Jerry to help navigate them in the right direction. "I suppose I've got a lot to learn, huh?" She asked him, morbidly curious about the division she was in, and just what kind of new hell this place was.
"Yep," She answered, tilting her head around the couch to get a good look at Jerry. "I guess I'm kind of late to this whole party. Any tips?" Her grin only widened at the question. "I love music! The classics are where its all at though, doll. What do you like?" She tossed her head, a bit of the 50's junkie underneath showing through in the passionate words, squinting at Jerry from across the length of the furniture.
"Do you," She started hopefully, "play an instrument at all?" Okay, maybe she was just a bit overexcited. She was allowed to be though. Right?

Jerry nearly dropped the sofa again as she answered, his eyes widening behind his thick glasses, "I was a music teacher! Er... almost a music teacher- for a short period I was almost a music teacher anyway ahahahaha! My favorites are the Beatles and Pink Floyd and The Doors and... well, of course all the classics, and- Oh, shoot, ah.... m-maybe if we twist it sideways- ah... hold on!" He shuffled with the furniture until he was able to steer them free of the doorway, at least. It was heavy, he was not feeling his best, it had been a long day and he certainly appreciated the company.

"Woah, really?" Madeline fumbled to keep the couch up, her grin spreading into a nearly carnivorous look. "You'll have to play me a tune sometime, doll." She laughed, shuffling the couch around under Jerry's comments and trying to steady it enough so they could heave it through the door and off to what she imagined was the hunter's room. "Ah, yeah, good ol' classics. Not t' downplay all the modern music rage but man, we had style back then." She commented with a far off daze in her look before snapping to attention and tilting the couch so they could squeeze it through. "I was kind of heartbroken when I woke up and remembered I'd left my baby - ah, my guitar, - well, in the past." Madeline shrugged helplessly and shook her dark bangs out of her eyes as they stumbled their way towards the stars to the second level. "Oh, this'll be an adventure." She laughed, hefting up her side with renewed vigor.

"I have a guitar! It's an acoustic, but it's served me well here! Hahaha kept me sane. You should pick up another sometime, I'd love to play together! Otto has- er... had? I'm not sure the state of his room after that Phoenix fiasco but ah- a set of drums and Molly has her violin oh goodness I hope it's still alright- we haven't had a chance for another meet! Sasha er... just got her flute back, I was trying to organize a hunter choir but I'm not sure how many people are truly interested, I might have a better chance with a b-band- ah! Here it goes!" He staggered out into the light triumphantly, "To the dorms! Oh, and I recently procured a ukulele! I'd like to get my hands on a portable keyboard though- You should really invest in another guitar!!" Kupuritama Sorry he talks so much! XD

Madeline came to a few conclusions in between the non-stop wave of words. One was that these people were awesome. The other was that she would need to procure a guitar sometime, and sometime soon. "Acoustic!" She grinned at the statement, "I learned off of some acoustic guitar I pawned off of a back-alley shop." She seemed wistful at this, but that first guitar she'd gotten with a few months worth of allowance as a kid had been totally worth it. "I'll definitely have to get one again; I'm already going insane without music around to keep me alive." She pursed her lips at the mention of so many names, trying to remember them in tandem with what instruments they played. Her eyes sparked with carnivorous amusement at the mention of both a choir and a band. "You should try both; I'd pay to see a b-band around this place."
Balancing her end of the couch so that neither of them tipped over, Madeline's eyes widened at the amount of musical instruments this place seemed to have hidden in the dorms. "Looks like I've got a lot of people to meet," She laughed, and bobbed her head to Jerry with a vivacious grin, "Ukelele, huh? I'll definitely have to see you play that." She grinned at him, beginning to trek backwards with the couch. "I'll do that, doll, but then you have to promise to play guitars with me sometime."
Because what was better than a fellow music fan? Especially if they could play something classic together.Bilious LOL ITS FINE jerryisawesomelmao<333

"Oh, absolutely! Do you like musicals?" He added, shifting his grip as they walked. It was FAR more easier with two people, that much was obvious.

"Love them," Madeline responded without missing a beat. She grinned at Jerry, shifting her end of the couch. "I used to go to the theatre a lot - " She paused, "I also saw a lot of ballets too. The first musical I saw was the Phantom of the Opera. I kind of got addicted afterwards." She whistled the tune to its opening before raising her brows at Jerry. "Anyways, what about you? Any favorites?"

"Faaar too many, ahahaha. I used to be able to do that "Make them laugh" dance shtick before my er... knee injury." He coughed, juggling his grip again to push his glasses up his nose, "From Singing in the Rain I mean. Ahahaha. Oh, we're approaching the steps, heads up!" The dorm building approacheth, and he made sure to keep his mind on where they were going. There would be time to nerd out later. "Fear shields are important, remember."

"Oh, really? Your knee okay?" Madeline perked up at the idea of that, grinning. "Shame that you can't do it anymore... I would have loved to see. Singing in the Rain was the best." She smirked. "I love dancing." Bobbing her head in tandem with what he said, Madeline twisted her head, glancing at the stairs once they approached, kicking her feet up to make sure she didn't trip and send them sprawling. Glancing back at Jerry, she managed a smile as her arms started to ache just a little. "Right, right," She said, and then wryly, "has anyone gotten themselves banged up on the stairs here before?"
Then again, she doubted many others here found themselves in a position hauling misplaced couches up the staircases every day.
