Solange crossed her legs at the ankle as she leaned against a street lamp. Her painted claws smoothed out a few wrinkles in her dress, running over the smooth skin underneath. This whole thing was going to be a hot mess, she just knew it. Cordelia had wanted her to go on this date so bad that she couldn't ignore the request, but then what? All the other teen had managed to tell her was that she would have a date. There was nothing given as to what they would look like, if it was a boy or a girl, what color their eyes were; just a name. Jayme.
She growled, slinging her braid over her shoulder while she shook her head. Who knew, Jayme might actually be some fun after all. Maybe they would hit it off just fine, or maybe not.

A date? A date...he had a date? Really? He was a nervous wreck honestly. It was a blind date, and he didn't know much of anything about his date, save a name...Solange...and that he was looking for a Houndoom.
"Why...why did I agree to this...why didn't I get more information..or a photo...or..."
A deep breath was taken to calm down, hand smoothing over his hair a moment, and down his dress, eyes sweeping the crowd of the place they were told to meet.
"Oh I hope he's cute..."
So of course when he spied Solange...from the back of course...it was met with a "Ohh...so far so good...and he's got excellent taste in clothes..."
Words were murmured mostly to himself, and he came closer, and cleared his throat some, words soft, feminine sounding.
"Are...are you Solange?"
He was still behind the other as he spoke, though coming around to the side and planning to move on front of the other. Hopefully this was the right person!

Solange took her sweet time in turning around, allowing her hair to swing around her face with the wind for dramatic effect. She placed her hand on the lamp post, her hip still balanced against it, ready to see Jayme until-
"Woah." That was...well, that was some bright dress. Of course, it looked just fine on her. She looked like a little princess with all those curls and frills. Honestly, Solange was more than a little jealous of how feminine she managed to look on a blind date of all things. "Ya, I'm Solange. Are you Jayme?"

The hair swinging around was amazing, and the wind came about at the perfect time to help it along, and he was amazed. This Solange guy had awesome hair!
Jayme nodded his head with a smile, a slight blush on his cheeks, almost matching his dress. "I am, it's really nice to meet you Solange." He looked the other over, and there was a realization that...oh..she's a girl.
"I uhm...well I made reservations at a little place not far from here for us if you'd like?" he was admittedly a little disappointed that this was a girl he was set up with, but he'd handle it well enough. He'd come clean before the night got too far gone.

"Ya, that sounds great." She nodded and stepped away from her post. Her heels clicked on the pavement; one of the worst decisions she had ever made. Cordelia was all for them, seeing as they gave her legs much needed shape, but they hurt like hell.
"So...tell me something about yourself. Like, hobbies or a favorite movie." After all, regardless of whether Jayme was date material, she wasn't about to go a whole evening with an uncomfortable silence in the room.

"Movies?" there was a tilt of his head, a puzzled look on his face, and he looked thoughtful. "I don't really watch movies. Sometimes those old classic ones that are black and white. Some of those are pretty good..." there was a sheepish smile given.
The hobby question however that made him light up, his eyes going wide. "I love to sing, I have so as long as I can remember. It's more than a hobby, it's my job. I sing at various clubs, and bars and stuff around the city, depends on where...where Reese can get me a job."
A frown crossed Jayme's face then at the mention of Reese, and he shuddered just a little. He really, really didn't like his manager, but he didn't know what else to do. There was no where else to go either. Reese had taken him in when he was cold, and hungry on the streets, and made it clear he expected to be paid back for this kindness, and did so by taking most of Jayme's money.
Most, not all. Which was the main reason he was being able to be here right now, he had some money set aside for various things, and one of the girls at the club he sang at regularly had said that a friend of a friend had a friend looking for a date...and that's why he was here.
Jayme paused out side of the door to the place he'd made reservations at and opened the door. "This is the place, should be sort of quiet still this time of day."

"You're a singer?" Her expression matched the surprise she felt. "That's pretty cool. You'll have to tell me where your next perfomance is." She smiled. Solange was as curious about the Teddiursa's lyrical ability as she was about the Poke-teen in general.
As she walked, she clasped her fingers behind her back, inches above her tail. The way Reese was spoken about, though...that part worried her. It didn't sound like Jayme had a very good relationship with him, but then again, wasn't that typical for a business relationship? Still, it made her sympathetic to Jayme.
"Thank you." She walked in confidently, taking stock of the room as she entered. Solange rarely ate at any restaurant, let alone one that required reservations.

"Uh-huh. I've been singing as long as I can remember. It's why Reese took me in. Said I needed someone to manage my talent, so I wouldn't be robbed blind, or something along those lines." a wry smile was given, and a shrug given. "Oh...well later tonight actually, at the Stardust Club...if you're interested I could get you in. I'm just filling in for another singer for a few songs."
"Reservations for two...under the name of Jayme"
The hostess smiled, and grabbed two menus, and led them to a table near the back, and he gave a smile to her. "They have really good food here, I come here probably once a week, usually after I get done at the club. I end up famished." there was a soft laugh given as he said that.
The menu was opened and he looked through it, before closing it quickly, knowing what he was going to order. He'd tried about everything on the menu at this point, and had his favorites.
"So you know my big passion with the singing, what's yours?"

"Stardust Club, huh?" It seemed like she had heard of it at some point in time, but she couldn't place a memory to it. Whatever it was, it should prove to be entertaining, and when asked about it, she gave a generic accepting line. There really wasn't much else to say; she was curious as to how well he would sing, but didn't feel like giving a compliment before hearing the end product.
It took Solange a little longer to pick her dish, being both a picky eater and nervous. She finally settled on a spicy pasta dish, and turned back to Jayme. "I don't know that I have one. I've always been with my trai- Cordelia." She paused. Now that they were the same age, and well...type the relationship between the girls was certainly more balanced, right? Solange shrugged. "She's always decided what we've done, and I follow along. I used to love battling, but now it doesn't seem to hold the same spark as it used to. Well, you know, I guess I do have a passion." She leaned forward on the table, gesticulating as she spoke. "It's going to seem really dorky, but I spend a lot of time on the streets helping people. Kind of like a super hero, but without the tights."

"Yeah it's over on Maple and 10th. Can't really miss it, has the big, awful looking star shaped sign over it." there was a light laugh and a shake of his head as he remembered it. It really was horrible looking, a weird sickly green color, though the inside looked so much nicer really.
"Oh great! I have time till then, so we have plenty of time together still, and you and I can walk over, and I'll get you inside, VIP seat and all." just because she was a girl, and he didn't care for girls in a romantic way, didn't mean he couldn't be friendly. Friends were more than nice, really.
"I've never really done the whole battling thing. I don't really recall a whole lot from before this..." a hand waved at himself, and the fact he looked not like a normal Teddiursa. "I just sort of remember being alone after suddenly becoming sorta person like and my family forcing me to go, saying I was unlucky." it was an unhappy time, and it hadn't been too much better since Reese had shown up in his life.
As she leaned forward, he did the same, curious really, and his head tipped, a smile given but a sincere one. "I coulda used someone like you when I was on the streets. I'm sure people appreciate it. What sorta help do you give?"
The waitress came about then, and he placed his order for his favorite pasta dish, which happened to be the same one Solange had planned on getting, and he got a glass of water to go with it.
"Any how...you were saying...you help people?"

"I used to run with a pack before Cordelia found me. Can't say I was too happy to be taken away from them, but in the end it worked out. I'm a lot stronger than I was, and I've evolved." She grinned. Her evolution was the source for most of her pride as of late. Now that it had been achieved, she felt like she could take on the world.
"If only I'd known." She laughed. giving a bright smile and a compliment to the waitress before checking out their dishes. As unsure as she was about her choice, it made her feel better about it to know that he had picked the same dish.
"See, I used to get in a lot of fights and...well, I liked to shop with a five finger discount in residential areas, so that got me a lot of flak. Cordelia kept telling me I should put my skills to better use, so I started to help out with the police. I figured it would be a lot easier than running from them all the time." Solange twirled a mouthful of pasta onto her fork.
"Anyway, what was that you were saying before? About being unlucky?" That part had really captured her attention, even if she had wanted to finish her story. She took a bite out of the pasta, paused to let the flavor sink in as she chewed, and followed it up with another. Delicious!

Jayme smiled listening to her, she was so neat to talk to honestly! He thought that maybe he'd enjoy making friends with Urban, who he was sure was lurking around somewhere but being polite and letting Jayme have this little outing without intruding too badly. For once.
"You're happy you look like that then? I wasn't very happy the first time I changed...I don't know if I'd like being an Ursaring. It's good you're so happy though!" his words were soft, thoughtful really, but he was smiling brightly.
"You look very strong, so I bet you won the fights too didn't you?" he was being genuine in his words, not trying to flatter to flatter. He looked thoughtful still, and had taken a bite of his own food as she spoke a nod given. It did make sense to help rather than run.
Her question surprised him, and he wiped his mouth after he finished chewing. "Oh, well. I was the only one I ever knew back then who'd changed like this. All the others thought I was cursed, so they made me leave. I sometimes still think that's the truth, that's all." he shrugged a little as he spoke. "But I have a home, and food now so it's okay I suppose."
One hand rubbed the opposite wrist, both were slightly bruised, one more than the other, but he reached for his fork again, and smiled. "So, what's your favorite move? Everyone I've ever spoken with seems to have one..."

"I think you'd look pretty weird as an Ursaring." She stated bluntly. "The one's I've met were pretty douchey, but you're nice, so, maybe you wouldn't be so bad." With another forkful ready, the took a bite, followed by a drink. As for her fights..."Hell ya I did." Solange smiled proudly. "Lost my fair share, too, but I trained hard. Still do."
She sat back in her chair, and gave his words some thought. Still, she didn't do well on deep thinking, and let the next bit roll off her tongue. "I understand where you might think it's a curse, but I see it as a challenge. It's like you're being tested on how well you can adjust to new enviroments, and in that regard, you seem to be doing fairly well. After all, if you hadn't changed, I wouldn't have met you, so it's more of a blessing than a curse." She pointed to him with her work. "That's as a friend, not the date talking."
His bruises concerned her, but she didn't feel it was polite to ask. Especially not on a first time meeting. "Movie? Honestly, I don't really watch many either, so I don't have a favorite." She laughed.

"I think I'd look weird as one too, and I doubt I'd be able to get away with wearing dresses anymore. Reese already has issues letting me wear them...but it's what I'm most comfortable in. But that whole 'boys shouldn't wear girls clothes' thing and all."
Yes, he'd just given away he was really a he, and not a she. He didn't try to deceive people, but unless it came up, he didn't tend to say anything either. He did seem genuinely pleased by her reaction to his comment on her fights, and he laughed.
"I've never trained before. Reese won't allow it. It's why I asked what your favorite move was. Urban seems to love Strength, and Headbutt..." he shook his head cringing a little recalling the time he'd seen the Aggron use those moves. He was a dirty fighter.
He actually blushed some at her words though, and took a few bites of his pasta, trying to find some words. Finally though there was just a simple, shy "Thanks....it's been nice meeting you. I don't get out much, so this is really, really nice. I'm enjoying myself a lot." he honestly was!
Jayme noticed Solange staring at his wrists, and he sighed, setting his hands up on the table. "Reese gets angry sometimes, and when he does he grabs my wrists to keep me in one spot while he rants away. He doesn't realize his strength however, and sometimes I get bruises."
He'd had more than the ones on his wrists, but that didn't need brought up. "Movies are nice, but I only see really only ones. Never been to one myself." a shrug given as he took a sip of his water. "So tell me more about you? Cordelia...how long have you known her?"

(Jesus Christ, I thought "move" was "movie". Dx)
So that's how it was. Solange had been on the fence the entire evening trying to decipher his gender, but he hid it well. She knew a couple cross-dressers, so she had thought, but then, Jayme was certainly more feminine than either of them.
She flushed. "Sorry, I thought you said movie. My head really is in the clouds right now." Solange shook her head. "A favorite of mine is Ember. It's pretty basic, but if you're strong then it can do a lot of damage without tiring you out as much." She paused, then continued, "Whose Urban?"
"Not to be rude, but Reese sounds like an a*****e." She picked at the remainder of her pasta, too full to really take another bite. "No one should leave bruises on someone like that. It's shameful. It doesn't matter how angry he gets, or if he doesn't realize what he's doing it's still wrong." And if she say it happening, she wouldn't think twice about frying his a**.
"Cordelia? Well, I've known her for about two years now. Her sister is a fire type researcher, and at the time, she was studying Houndour pack relations in the city. Of course, she brought her little sister along to help and she wanted to capture on of us. Our leader decided that if she could defeat the fastest runner in a race from one end of the city to the other that she could take that one with her. Guess who got the shaft." It hadn't been so bad, when she had thought she couldn't be beaten, but no one had ever told Cordelia she couldn't use a skateboard.
