N'mol and Tyeth Initiative
The plan was simple enough: three smaller groups of fighters hitting separate key points of the weyr in order to defeat the revolutionaries there or drive them toward the beach where more of their allies should be waiting to pick them off.
N'mol waited for D'lin's signal, feeling comfortable with the added benefit of well-discussed (though quick) facts and plans. It had been natural to defer to the older rider in the chain of command, but the moment he took his group between he was back to being in charge. And there it was. He gestured to the fighters behind him-- his group of Benden riders-- and led them into darkness. When they appeared above what should have been the mess hall, N'mol looked down, scanning for revolutionaries and seeing several look up or point. His face was grim as he counted out the numbers. D'lin was right. This was a heavily populated area. No surprise they had hit here first.
Tyeth, direct the others to keep their riders a-dragonback, for now. We'll pick off the whers first. And my, there were certainly enough of those.
I will tell them, N'mol. Tyeth, too, was assessing their foe and noticing that they were a bit outnumbered. No matter. The air was their ally, and dragons would never be overcome by whers, so long as they had other allies to help them fight. Most especially, of course, the larger Bronzes and Browns, which was what their group consisted of.
Tyeth bespoke the dragons behind him, turning his head to look back. It felt good to be in the air again; a shame he couldn't spend more time enjoying it. After all of this was over, he would have plenty of time. We go for the whers first. Tell your riders not to dismount until we give the signal that it is safe to do so. If we let them off, the whers will maul them before we have a chance to kill them all. Select a target singly or as a pair. We will take them out one by one and then let our humans deal with the humans when there are fewer able to harm them.
N'mol nodded and then looked back and made the Threadfighting hand gesture for "forward; attack." They wouldn't give the wherhandlers a chance to form up or give orders of their own this time.

Timill (NPC Created Character: Not for Consideration) Intiative
Timill was outside the mess hall, letting some of the other handlers clean up one or two messed that had been made inside. He was a handler sent from Benden to help orchestrate the ambush here; he didn't particularly care about the people here. There were no friends from the weyrfolk for him to be concerned over the way some of the other wherhandlers had. It was simply the job he had been assigned. However, that didn't mean he would deal with cleaning up the mess his wher and others had made if he could avoid it. He liked managing much better than getting his hands dirty.
Timisk let out an angry screech and Timill, not expecting it, flinched away and then looked to see what had made his wher so angry. More riders. Riders hovering above them, not surprised to find them there. For a moment, Timill considered where they may have come from. Trine riders who escaped from other parts of the weyr and were trying to help their friends? Benden riders hoping for refuge? It was hard to tell from here, and Timill didn't know Benden riders well enough to tell dragons apart from one weyr or another. Well, he shouldn't be wasting time considering it if they weren't attacking yet, anyway. Better to get into position.
"Riders above! Wherhandlers--" He looked up quickly, seeing the riders already shooting toward them. He snarled and Timisk threw himself in front of his handler, his ichor-marked face vicious and ready for another fight. They were here for a fight then, whoever they were. Well, the handlers had taken the mess hall-- they would not give it back!

[K'en & Stromath- Taking Aim]
It was amazing how much numbweed and some good bandaging could do. Certainly he was by no means 'recovered', but they'd been patched up well enough to be able to continue the fight. They didn't really have any time to rest until they could be sure that the Weyrs were safe once again. It was just such a tragedy that the betrayal had come from within the Weyrs themselves...
Mine, Tyeth and His say not to dismount until they've given the signal that it's safe to do so. We're taking the whers out first so that you can handle the humans on their own.
Understood, K'en replied, briefly eyeing the ground below. No, getting mauled by a wher would not be particularly helpful. At N'mol's signal, the pair made their way sharply downward along with the rest of the charge, searching out the nearest enemy wher to take out of the picture.
He hated that they had to do this.

[Keela & Taith- Taking Aim]
They'd had a nice victory earlier in the day, but the battle was definitely far from over. That was fine though-- aside from some bruising and what was sure to be general soreness in a day or so, Keela and Taith were more than ready to continue on with the fight.
You're staying on my back until we can finish off the runts first.
Good, so you won't be letting a wher bowl me over again.
He kept evading me!
So I noticed. It was especially fun trying to fight him off myself while you carried off the handler.
None will get past me this time.
They'd better not. She didn't fancy being dragged off of her green's back by force. Now time to kick some back-stabbing a**. At the signal, the pair began their descent onto the battlefield. No whers or handlers were going to be getting the best of them.

[B'nen and Gneisth - Taking Aim]
Like his brother, B'nen was ready to sing the praises of numbweed and deft hands equipped with bandages, now bound over various parts of his body. Hopefully he wouldn't be adding too much more to his list of injuries, but sitting out of the fight simply wasn't an option. What had happened at Benden...what was happening now at Trine...they couldn't allow the wherhandlers to gain any more ground than they'd gotten. Tyeth says we attack only from the air, until the whers are no longer a threat, Gneisth relayed. Fair enough. Though he'd had a close call or two in the last battle, he definitely preferred to stay away from wher teeth and jaws - if that didn't prove the duplicity of this so-called revolution, B'nen wasn't sure what more of an obvious signal anyone would need. Dragons couldn't attack humans - they just couldn't, unless you were a stupid Candidate getting on the bad side of nesting gold. That these wherhandlers had no compunction ordering their beasts to attack humans... Reprehensible.
Let's show them the error of their ways, Gneisth.
------------------------------- B'nen HP 25 Attack 1d6 + 1 Defense 1d4 + 1 Accuracy -3
Gneisth HP 60 Attack 1d10 + 2 Defense 1d8 + 2 Accuracy -6

Forton (NPC) Introduction
At Timill's call, a Green wher and her handler appeared in the doorway of the mess hall. They quickly exited the building to leave room for other revolutionaries to get out as well. This pair was noticeably older than the other handler pair and both handler and wher seemed to be well in sync with one another. Forton looked up and quickly counted the riders who had appeared, then went into action.
Forton saw the Bronze swooping down and pointed. "Fortosk! Get the Bronze when it's close enough!"
The Green called a challenge and barreled forward, eyes sharp on Tyeth.

Fortosk Attacking Tyeth
Fortosk was a quick little Green, despite not being particularly bright. She crossed the ground between her and the Bronze's attack on Timisk in no time. When the Bronze-- big big bad-- was close enough to the ground, Fortosk used her momentum to launch at him, stretching her neck out to try to get a good bite into his stomach.

Yekara (NPC) Introduction/Attacking Taith
A third handler pair exited the building, but their direction was distracted by Keela and Taith. It figured. The boys would go for the first dragon, but that meant they ignored that there was more than one dragon in the sky.
"Get her from the side," she directed to her wher as they ran forward to engage Taith. Quickly, Yekarask out-paced her, but Yekara was focused. As the Green dragon grew close enough, Yekara tried to lash out at the dragon with a hard kick of her booted foot.

A note for all players: From this point on, please make sure to note whether your dragon is staying in the air or is going to land and fight from the ground. ALSO, if your dragon swoops close in order to attack a wher, please note that does open your dragon to attacks from both whers and handlers. Tyeth Attacking FortoskTyeth's initial dive was foiled by his need to avoid the double attack made by the whers on the ground. He lifted his legs away from the Green and swung his head away from the Brown's slash, but his initial surprise attack was diverted anyway. The whers were his target. Their handlers weren't so much his concern. He turned his head to survey them as he made a sharp turn back toward them, preparing for another assault, one with a bit more attacking on his end this time, he hoped. There are two handlers here now, mine, with their pests. I will take the smaller first. The other, perhaps, will try to protect his handler, but the little Green is clearly out to fight. She will go first.Don't ignore the other wher or their handlers, though, Ty. They can be dangerous, too, especially if the handlers have weapons.Have sense, N'mol. I am no fool Green, Tyeth retorted as he tilted into a sharp dive. His target appeared to be the Brown's handler again, and he wasn't disappointed to see the wher move to intercept him, but at the last second he turned and snapped out with his teeth at the Green, hoping to catch her as he had caught the Blue wher at their last fight. These creatures did not need their wings anyway. ============================================ HP: 65 Attack: 7+3=10 Accuracy: -6=HIT

[Taith- On the Ground, Defending against Yekara]
Oh-ho! Her first challengers! Of course, Taith was both surprised and amused when it was the handler who attacked her before the wher. Not that the attack actually did much, but the brief distraction did leave her open to attack from the small blue. I'm sorry, was that supposed to be a scratch? Taith asked, taunting the blue as she turned to face him. You're handler hit harder than that.
Taith, stop antagonizing the wher and just take it out already. She wanted to be able to dismount and join the fight herself without potentially being grabbed and dragged off, thanks.
Oh come on, a little trash-talk never hurt anyone.

[Stromath- Attacking Timisk from the Air]
Tyeth wasn't going to have to fight two whers on his own for very long. While the lead bronze focused his attack on the smaller wher, Stromath himself swooped in to bite the brown. While they did have the air to their advantage, it was still best to try to avoid being double-teamed.
No, this was not a battle that they could afford to lose.

[Gneisth - Attacking Yekarask from the air]
Gneisth had no interest in getting between the bronzes and their wher targets, so he figured the chivalrous thing to do would be to lend Taith another pair of snapping jaws. While the green dragon turned to face the blue wher, brown Gneisth was already swooping in for a snap.
Did that wherhandler just try to kick Taith?
It's the sharp things we will be more worried for, Gneisth rumbled, amused at His.

Fortosk Attacking Tyeth
Fortosk screeched as Tyeth's teeth snagged her wing and tore the delicate membrane, but she managed to retain the limb. She lashed out with her own claws as he passed, looking to return some of that pain-- or maybe just avoid taking any more of her own. Unfortunately, the pull from him spinning her wing caused her to miss striking the Bronze at all and she shrieked with anger.
