Izinhliziyo rolled onto his back with an aggrieved sigh. His emotions were as scrambled as his mind after spending some time with Haracha. It hadn't even been very long at all, but he had to admit it....he was madly in love with her. Of course, she had to feel the same way, because she hardly left his side. So, why couldn't she show it? Why was she always so disgusted by his poetry? Why would she snub him when he wanted to coddle her?

The petite leopard laid a paw over his face. It was just like before. In his last relationship, the threesome had at least understood one another, but Haracha remained an enigma. All he wanted was for her to say three simple words, but he suspected that if she did now, she would turned "love" into "hate."

Tendaji had been spending an awful lot of time with Esen and consequently neglecting his family. He felt rather guilty about that, although it was... nice... to be with a lady leopard. Outwardly he blushed, but inwardly he smiled. Oh yes, the things they got up to at night were quite wonderful.

It wasn't that he never saw his family and he'd only been spending time with Esen for a week or so... but he realized now that he'd been self absorbed ever since he returned home. It was always him and his own problems.

With a new sense of self-confidence and the desire to make amends, he sought out his baby brother Izin. It was high time he started looking after his family instead of the other way around.

Izin turned over when he heard approaching footfalls, rustling up a cloud of dust in his wake. As bad as it hurt his lungs to breath it in, the dust was the only thing keeping him cool under the Sun's watchful eyes. What he say brought an instant smile to his face. "Tendaji!"

At first, Izin didn't want to bother his big brother. It seemed like he had a lot on his plate already without Izin bouncing around at his heels begging for stories. He'd missed those stories. He'd missed his brother. This new persona was more like the old Tendaji, but there was still something about him that had Izin worried.

"What have you been up to? You left for the longest time, and then when you come home you barely even talk to me? What gives?" Izin harumped and pouted at his brother.

"Izin!" Tendaji grinned at his brother and debated pouncing him, but stopped half way through his starting bound and awkwardly sat down instead. He winced; Izin's questions hit awfully close to the mark.

"I... needed some time," he said. "To get better. Things... happened... when I was gone. Bad things." He looked at his brother with worried eyes. "But I'm better now. Honest. And I'm ready to be your big brother again, just the same as before."

"Oh." What did he have to say to that? Of course, he wanted to know more about what had happened to his brother, and what he could do to make it better, but...that just wasn't plausible. Tendaji wasn't likely to share something like that. Izin doubted even he would if the situation were turned. "Well, if you ever want someone to talk to so you can, you know, get over the bad things-" he pointed towards himself.

"In the mean time...who is that girl you're hanging out with? Not the wild dog, but the other one?" He grinned. "Cari told me she saw you talking to someone. Are you falling in love? Or is it just a fling? She sounds pretty, whoever she is, and she's lucky to have you even for a second." He nodded, completely convicted in his beliefs. "Oh, and did you hear about Kamau? He's a dad now! I haven't seen them yet, but Abrafo says that he has. Can you believe it? For some reason this feels so much more...special than when Safi became a dad. I figured that was going to happen, even though he's a hybrid, you know?"

"Oh, and...did you see a green leopard lady on your way over? I mean, I just kind of...wanted to talk to her, you know?"

Tendaji nodded, rewarding Izin with a sad smile. He'd remember the offer, but he rather doubted he'd ever talk to Izin about what had happened. The events were still too fresh and Tendaji's recent recovery was little more than a scab over the wound, not to mention that his desire to protect his brother prevented him from telling him about all the bad things in the world. Let Izin stay just the way he was.

"Her name's Esen," said Tendaji. "She's really nice, and she is quite pretty..." He ignored Izin's question about falling in love, not wanting to think about that. He loved Esen - right? Why else would he be sleeping with her? All his life he'd believed that was the kind of thing only mates did. Flings were bad, yet another source of conflict between him and Safi.

"He is!" Tendaji grinned at Izin, quite his old self. "I'm an uncle! We're uncles! I mean... we were already, but now... yeah, it feels different," he admitted guiltily. Safi was his brother and all, but the bond he had with Izin and Kamau was much stronger. They were a step above regular brothers.

"Just talk, eh? I don't think I've seen her, but I may have... tell me about this green lady of yours." He smiled naturally enough, his relationship with Esen having removed a lot of his distrust of strange females, but he still wanted to hear more about this lady. Maybe meet her, see if she was anywhere near good enough for his brother.

"Esen, huh? Well, I definitely want to meet her." He nodded his head with conviction. Any lady that was worthy enough of spending time with his brother was definitely a girl to meet.

"Where do I start?" He gave a goofy grin. "Her name's Haracha, and she came here with Xandeleigh. She's green like you, but a lot darker with stripes. I've never seen stripes like these before! She's just....And those eyes..." He sighed. Slowly, his smile turned into a slight frown. "I wish I knew what she was thinking, though. She doesn't seem all that fond of me, but she never leaves me alone, you know?"

"Oh geeze," said Tendaji, "I'm not sure that's a very good idea..." He laughed. "Just don't be offended if she calls you a snot brained fool or anything. It's nothing personal. She's all right once you get to know her."

Tendaji frowned, not too sure he wanted his little brother hanging around with a female that came with aunt Xandeleigh. But he knew his brother, and he knew that look in his eyes. Izin was a creature of romance, he needed a one true love. "Then why don't I meet her, see if I can find anything out? I suppose we can both meet each others special girls."

Izin laughed. He couldn't imagine any girl acting like that, and yet, his very own Haracha was known to have a sharp tongue. "I'll be super careful, then. I wouldn't want to chase her off or anything by being a 'snot brained fool'."

His brother's words gave him pause. What could it really hurt, letting Tendaji meet Haracha? All he could imagine was her giving him the cold shoulder, then walking away half way through Tendaji's speech. He grimaced. "Ya...sure. Sounds great!" He gave a fake smile. The small leopard rolled to his feet. "Though, I'd much rather meet your Esen first." After all, she sounded like the lesser of the two evils.

"I imagine she's pretty hard to scare away," Tendaji said seriously.

Tendaji returned the fake smile with a worried one of his own. "All right. Just say the word and I'll introduce you."
