Calfuray had heard rumors, she'd heard it from the birds and the fish and the passing wildlife..and once in a while from another Soquili who had come looking for that which she searched for now. Up until now however Calfuray had had no reason to seek this out - oh she'd had questions it was true..but questions she hadn't been entirely sure she wanted answered.
Now..now she wasn't so sure, now she thought maybe she did want those answers..or at the very least she wanted to know if there was indeed some truth behind the grey mares words. Aleu had told her a great many things about the herd she supposedly came from - and while the mares words had not sounded like lies she herself could place no knowledge, no truth in them and before she left her beach..Calfuray dearly..dearly wanted to know if she was making the right decision.
And so she had left the grey mare alseep and trotted down the beach to the small inlet that it was said answers could be found. Calfuray wasn't sure exactly who or what answered these questions but those who left had never seemed to question it and so she had decided to come and see for herself.
"Hello?" She called out as she trotted the shore line of the inlet, turning her head this way and that as she looked for whomever or whatever might lurk within,

Isadora was brushing the bottom of the ocean floor, her keen eyes lingering on the coral that composed a beautiful rainbow in front of her. The sand shifted ever so slightly, and the cold of the ocean bottom made her scales tingle slightly. She loved going in this deep spot right off the shore. The ocean floor dropped severely to the point it was as deep as she could go without her lungs feeling constricted--and where she loved to swim amongst the coral. A sound drifted down to her from above, far and distant. She raised her eyes, curious as to what was going on in the world on the other side of the liquid mirror. She swam to the surface, the sound becoming clearer-- a distinct hello. She tilted her head, her wet hair dripping down the scales of her back. "Did you find what you were looking for?"

To say that Calfuray was a bit surprised when a head popped out of the water would be a bit of an understatement - oh sure she was aware that creatures lived in the ocean..but she had not been aware that tiny Soquili did! Or maybe she had known but then forgot as she had forgotten everything else. Either way she was surprised and it took a few moments of startled blinking for her to regain her composure and step towards the shoreline again.
"No..no not yet" Calfuray told the little sea pony with a slight shake of her head. "To be honest I don't know what exactly I am looking for anyways - I've heard that answers can be found in this inlet but I don't know how" She might have told the female (she was assuming it was female by the voice) that she hadn't ever seen one like her before but Calfuray did not know if that were true..and was somewhat afraid of sounding silly if they turned out to be common place and she just couldn't recall.

Isadora saw the shocked look on the other mare's face as she stepped back. Her face beheld a kind of intrigue and awe. Maybe she'd not seen one like herself before? It happened, but it wasn't as common for other sea-kind.
One look at the mare in front of her showed that she was indeed a water breed. The thin fins, the lanky build, and the texture of the skin. She was likely a good swimmer.
The mare professed to not know what she was looking for, but that was seldom how it really was. "You know something is missing and you search for it without giving it a name? Look inside of yourself, there's something you want more than anything. Or maybe it's someone?" She tilted her head, "Some answer you're seeking. What is your name?"

"I am known as Calfuray..and that is all I know of myself" The mare stated, lowering her head to look at the little water Soquili. "I have lost my memories and yet someone has come and told me of a past I don't recall...there is a chance to journey and find it again or at least rejoin those who were my supposed sisters..but I don't know if the stories she tells me are true and if I should follow her or not."
The other Soquili's advice to look inside herself was good advice...normally, but when Calfuray looked within all she found was swirling blackness. Whatever truths her inner being held they seemed to be locked firmly away. "I don't know if I should look for my past..or just be happy with the now and the future.."

Isadora tilted her head and looked up into Calfuray's face. She could see the confusion in the mare's eyes. She was searching for what she wanted--to continue searching or to stop. Many came to Isadora with problems or advice they need.
"But you're not happy now. You can't just unknow what you know now. And if you could, it would always feel missing wouldn't it?" She paused, "Will you be able to let it go and not know? That's the question. If it means nothing to you--th idea of letting it go, then let it go. But if your heart and mind anguishes over it then you should look for the truth. It may not be the truth she told you, but if you want it bad enough then you'll find it."
She smiled as she flipped some water on herself, "I'm Isadora."

Calfuray had to consider the mares words carefully before she could make sense of it. It wasn't that the water Soquili spoke with a hard to understand accent or anything - more so, that her turns of phrase were thought provoking in themselves. In the end Calfuray realized that the mare was right - while before she could have been perfectly happy living her life on the beach and looking towards the future..now that she had been given a clue about her past she simply couldn't stop thinking about it.
"I don't know if I can go on now, leaving this clue un-followed" She confessed to the water mare. "I was happy before in my ignorance but now, with the possibility of, if not my memories restored, then at least an explanation for what happened to me - it is just to tempting not to see"

Isadora smiled, "Well reasoned." She shut her eyes gently, "It's the problem with intelligence. It makes life more difficult and less happy in some ways. The dumb are happy because they know no better. But when you know real happiness, you know it...no just blindly because your told to."
She flipped her fins gently. "So, is there a place to start? A pinpoint, a piece of somethign you can give me?"

Calfuray certainly couldn't argue with the water Soquili's words. "True, I doubt that sea snails are very unhappy, they simply go about their lives unknowingly." She agreed, scuffing at the dirt slightly with a hoof and thinking that it might have been nice to live as a simpler species, true they tended to live short lives and generally wound up eaten by one thing or another - but at least while they lived they were likely satisfied with what they had. Unlike Soquili who seemed to spend a great deal of their time attempting to get a hold of more.
"I was told that I belonged to a herd of warriors, sisters they called themselves.." She offered, curious to see if what the mare told her would consolidate the story given to her by the grey mare or not.

Isadora bit her lip and then closed her eyes, "Sisters. Yes, that's what they called themselves though their actions were often unsisterly." Her eyes opened and she shook her head. "There was discord. The life that was meant to be easy was torn apart by words and actions. They were sisters no longer. And you are left without them, left craving what they once had and ruined so easily."
Isadora sighed, "Does that help you? Or does it hurt?" She considered the girl gently. Had she helped or hindered her? What truth did these words bring to her?

Considering the mares words for a few moments, Calfuray studied the sand at her hooves as she thought. A part of her had known this would be the answer - had even hoped that it would be and while she had earlier already come to the conclusion that she had to take this journey now that she knew the information..she couldn't help but fear it just a little as well.
What if what she found was not to her liking? What if she learned who she had been and did not like it? Either way she would be going - she knew that much at least. "Both." She told the mare. "But information tends to cut both ways it seems, what you have told me seems to confirm the story I was told...I suppose all that is left is to take the journey and see where it leads me in the end."

Isadora squinted her eyes for a moment. It was the true--the truth both helped and hurt you at times. But what advice could she give the girl before she set off on this journey of discovery? What words of wisdom to help her cope with things to come--things she might not even fathom?
"It is your choice this journey, but I agree. Just remember," she paused. "Remember not to lose yourself in finding something else." Maybe she would understand what she meant, at least when it came to the moment to decide--maybe she would understand.

The water Soquili's advice was sound, in fact it was likely some of the better advice she had received since being faced with this dilemma. She rather liked who she was now and the same might not be said for who she had been before whatever accident had rendered her memoryless. Should that be the case...it would be important to hold onto herself as she was and not whom she had once been.
But would that be possible? If she learned all of what she was could she retain the Soquili she had become without knowing? The thoughts were making her head spin and yet they were thoughts she knew she had to muddle through eventually. "Thank you..that is good advice, it makes my thoughts confused but I understand." She finally remarked, turning her head slightly to look upon the rising sun. "I should go soon, my companion for this journey will be looking for me..but your advice has been quite helpful."

Isadora watched the mare process the information she'd given her. A lot of people came to her for advice, but in reality--they wanted quick solutions. Nothing in life was quick or easy, it wasn't how things worked. Sometimes they got angry at her when she offered them things to think about or disappointing them with what she knew.
The future was ever shifting, ever shaping. Nothing is ever fixed in the universe. She could only tell what may happen, what could happen...not what would. She could discern these thing but not a stallion or mares reaction to the situation. The reaction caused so much.
Isadora smiled at the the mare again, "I hope you find what you're looking for, and maybe even something you're not." She paused a moment, "Have you ever heard that old adage. "Journey's end in lover's meeting--Every wise man's son doth know."
She flipped the water over herself, "You may return if you need me again or to tell me if it goes well." She was always interested in what happened after they left. She was confined to this water, unable to find out the ends of their journey. How much did they learn or not learn? How much had they won and how much had they lost?
