History:
Life for Natasha Romanov was like a dream- a loving family, wonderful home, and an aspiring career in the ballet. Given those prospects, it was hard to leave it all behind for her country, but since It and It's people had given her so much, she would gladly do the same in return. Having been spotted by agents during a recital for her physique and mobility, the KGB had asked her to participate in an aptitude test for gifted teens, one which would offer them a chance to server their country, protect it from the Western tradition, and strive towards a world full of peace and prosperity for all citizens. She pass the tests, and agreed to their terms to protect and better her Motherland. What followed was a grueling training process, all of which seemed like a blur. She took to espionage as if she was born for it. It wasn't long until she was out on the field, given the code name Black Widow for her manipulative and deadly nature. She went where her country needed her; be it assassination, interrogation, being a mole or a combatant, Natasha proved time and time again to be one of the U.S.S.R.'s most valuable operatives in their war against the West. However, there is no such thing as a perfect agent, and in Natasha's case that was true.
On a mission to sabotage several of America's finest heroes, Natasha was taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D. to be interrogated and detained for her criminal acts. Day in an out, they used the same skills she had acquired to break her will, to crush her love for her country, but she wouldn't budge. Finally, after torturous beatings, mind games, and mental exhaustion, the enemy did the one thing she hadn't expected, they talked to her. Of course, she didn't reply, didn't say one word about herself, yet these treacherous men knew everything about her.. Her parents, her life, even down to the breed of her first dog. The more they spoke, the more confused she became. Finally, as the last bits were read, the man before her threw down the dossier for her to read from a place called Red Room Academy. It was then Natasha's dream life unraveled before her eyes. She had no home, no dog, no ballet career, and no parents, the war had even been brought to a close- since childhood she had always been alone, confined to a single room and conditioned like a machine both mentally and physically, even augments with chems like a lab rat. She had killed, maimed, and tortured for no moral reason other than to serve a country who's goals for peace and prosperity were as hollow as the life they had given her. In bitter defeat, Natasha defected from the country she called home to the United States in hopes of finally working for the peace and prosperity she had been promised, now, however, it was not for a country but her own peace of mind.
It's been four years since the veil has been lifted, and Natasha has found a home at S.H.I.E.L.D as a intelligence operative and licensed super hero. Though she is still regarded as a possible threat and a villain by dossier, she has become known as a hero by media standards and those she works with.
