Personality: Calm, serious, and collected most of the time, Sai has an air about him of controlled intensity. Though he has very little censorship in his speech and he is willing to put people in their place when necessary, he isn't the type to fight when it isn't warranted. He takes rivalry and competition very seriously, but also very professionally...the type who could have a drink with you today only to crush you in a competition tomorrow (knowing you would compete the whole time). Though that isn't to say he's particularly friendly, either. He is taciturn, intelligent, and resourceful. He also prefers to play things close to the vest.

If he has a weakness it is his attachment to Suzume Kirihara, a bright girl who he views as a sole source of light and innocence in an otherwise murky world. His affection for her drives him to go to incredible lengths to keep her safe, taking risks he might otherwise not chance if not to protect her from evil...and the shadow of his past.
Bio: Sai is a person who has lived his entire life in Oshu City, in the shadow of the days of Masamune Date. Despite having gone through the school system all the way until his Senior year in High School, however, there are very few people who can really tell you much about him on a personal level. He has always been serious, keeping to himself, but his grades and athletics have ranked at the top of his class. His life has always been shrouded in mystery, it seems, and the precious few who get close enough to him to ask questions rarely come away with any answers. This does not stop the rumors from spreading, however; in particular, his trademark scars and eyepatch (which are relatively recent additions to his body according to some, or have been there for a while if you ask others) being subject of particularly wild rumors wherever he goes. Whether they are the result of a feud with Oshu Gangs, whether they are a mark of 'Yakuza' heritage, or whether they are the result of his own inner demons guiding his hand are some of the things you will hear. All of them only serve to build up his strange mystique.

What cannot be disputed, however, is that he is a venerable figure in the Oshu City School Systems and throughout the city, some calling him the 'second coming of the Dokuganryuu' and others simply calling him by the nickname he has picked up along the way...'Sakurazukamori', otherwise known as the 'Cherry Blossom Killer'. He is the unofficial king of Oshu City High, something of a figurehead that most club presidents and prominent figures in the school are aware of and somewhat familiar with on a semi-personal level (about as close as anybody gets to him). And when it comes to the school's intense rivalry with the beach-side school Iwadate, he is almost always at the forefront of their competitions pushing his fellow Oshu City students to victory...when he isn't on the field securing it by his own hands.

For what reason do these mysteries surround him, however? What is the truth behind his mysterious scars, and his unknown home situation? Is he a Yakuza? Or simply an introvert? Is he a normal person with a status thrust upon him he never wanted? Or is there something...more? With Sai, there are always more questions than answers...

Personality: Niiya is a quiet and shy person, usually keeping to herself and her fat stack of literature. However, she does know how to talk to people, and can be fairly confident when she needs to, such as when discussing things in a mathematical or scientific sense. Or, you know, when Suzu is around. She's quite easily flustered, and lacks a lot of experience in trying to deal with boys, but that doesn't mean she doesn't like them. Some of them just....scare her a bit more than usual. She's also quite intelligent, and great at splitting her focus, having a habit of listening to one book while reading another...and still retaining a fair amount of memory of both books. A true Book lover.
Bio:Niiya was (and still is) a plain girl that likes books. She reads them all the time, and for the most part, neglected most everyone else in favor of pursuing knowledge, or diving away into a fiction novel. She's usually found reading in the library religiously, and is rumored to be the reason none of the books are ever out of place. One day, while reading up on some homework she met Suzu, whose friendly demeanor, and all around cheery disposition got her to open up to some other people. Thanks to the girl's persistence in getting her to hang out somewhere other than the library, Niiya became fast friends with her, helping her out from time to time if she had something to ask related to school. (Not to mention having a shopping buddy, and someone to gush at over things when she wanted.)
Eventually, she met Sai through Suzu (and was promptly terrified from the rumors), but quickly learned he wasn't quite the same menace some people made him out to be. While she's still uneasy about the figure, she doesn't fear him so long as Suzu's around. Especially given how well he performs on tests and such, which impresses the junior, though she strives to become Oshu's top student herself. Amidst about a million other things, the smallest of which is her wanting to own her own library. Not even a big one, just one she can call her own.

Personality: Energetic and free spirited, anyone who ran into Denmark could tell he had the delinquent's spirit in his heart. Unfortunately for those who meet him outside of a professional environment, he's also quite cruel, and loves to taunt and look down on others. Having grown up in a shady environment, he's learned to keep information tight against his chest, and so those who think the tall, aggressive young man might not be the sharpest tool in the shed learn the unfortunate truth the hard way; that he's neither weak, nor dumb, and being in a position of authority, he likes to use his talents to push others around, getting what he wants at the expense of other's happiness in the end.
Bio: Named after his father's home country, Denmark was the son of a foreigner and his Japanese mother. Though the young years of his life may have sounded romantic, when he was only twelve years old, his father passed away unexpectedly. Though at first his mother tried to support the two, their father had held the family together for a long time and she was simply too use to being supported to become the pillar of strength in his time of need. Instead, Denmark chose to do whatever he could on his own...and soon received a job from the Yakuza, becoming a member of their ranks in return for the promise that he'd be taken care of. For several years he worked as an underling and hardened his heart thanks to the reality of the world, and in turn he became a proficient knee-breaker, wrecking stores and collecting debts from earnest people who had gotten in with the wrong crowd; his crowd, which he'd become all too accustom to. Now going into detail would be telling, but needless to say after several years, he finally 'graduated' when one person became a bit too obstinate; and in turn, he was given orders to remove the person from the picture, permanently. Despite his initial sarcasm at the task, when confronted with the person-who-shall-not-be-named, for the first time the Dane had a serious crisis of conscience, and in the critical moment, he was unable to force himself to kill the man. Assigned a 'partner' to make sure nothing went wrong, Denmark knew there was nothing he could do to avoid finishing the job or going cold turkey...and so he helped his 'partner' to a little nap. The unpleasant, not-so-welcome, extremely violent kind...

After that, the terrifying rookie of Oshu was hunted by professional crime in the big city, but in return only victims were returned to his former bosses, all the while causing the crisis to escalate. Then, when he'd gotten in one scrape too many, Denmark ran into someone else on the streets who ended up in the darker shade of the gray area himself; and he and Sai became comrades for the first time, each providing a unique outlook on Oshu. Though the crime in the city certainly hasn't vanished, slowly the terrifying duals between the Modern-Age Battosai and the criminals disappeared, and rumors abound connecting his new acquaintance, Sai, and this sudden drop off in what would have been a to--death man hunt. At the same time, the blond's former affiliations caused their own stirring rumors about Sai forming new connections to the mob, all due to his new all-too-shady friend. Not one to share the past, Denmark chose to move on, and in return for his new found piece started selling information, bought at street value and sold at market price to those who needed it; and of course, rumors abound quickly that Sai makes quite good use of this to know where someone in Oshu will be, before even they do. One last thing to note would be that when once asking about his namesake, which seemed odd, Denmark received this explanation from his father; that he'd obtained it while working for his country, and that though it might be more of a nickname then a real one, it bore a special significance that had been passed down the family for a few generations. Though he never heard what that secret meaning could be, the foreigner hasn't taken his name for granted twice, and bears the reminder that one day he might find out that secret, and put it to use on his own.

Oh, and he hates people with big, famous family lineages. It's downright axe-worthyable, if you ask him.
