Roll a Nine: Seashore Field: Split down the middle between land and sea, this field compliments land and water type pokemon. On the west end of the field is the land section: fine grained sand gradually slopes downward to meet the salt water on the east end of the battleground. A single palm tree wavers lightly in the breeze while shells are scattered in random places in and on the sand. In the water half of the battleground, the water laps at the sand much like at a real beach; when it retracts it leaves behind strands of seaweed and pieces of coral. Both are found under the water, offering shelter for water-types (or those who can hold their breath for great periods of times). This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GROUND and WATER type attacks.

Lenore walked lazily into the stadium, with Mephistopheles at her side. She looked over the railings at the fake seashore before sitting down with a book. She gave Mephistopheles a small smile before turning her attention to the pages within.

Mephistopheles floated down to lurk above the lone palm tree.

Genesis was about to wave when she got onto her trainer's platform, but she cut herself short when she noticed the opposing trainer was occupied. She thought it may be necessary to cry out, anyway (she didn't want to be accused of taking an unfair advantage, after all), when she noticed the Duskull on the field, ready to battle.

She was used to having her own Pokémon fight on their own, and if there was another, it would be no problem for her. With a shrug, she left the other trainer to her own devices and motioned for Leto to start.

Leto stepped eagerly onto the field, ready for battle. However, she paused when she felt the sand give way beneath her feet to spent some time inspecting them.

Leto, having ascertained the sand was no threat to her, focused on her opponent. Admittedly, Genesis thought he had an eerie red face, especially when it was against a dark cloak, but luckily, the rat Pokémon was too stupid to know fear didn't share her trainer's opinion.

Hoping to eat her way to victory, she started off with Crunch.

Mephistopheles phased out from the attack before bowing. "Greetings. I am Mephistopheles, and I am your opponent. Good luck."

He raised his arms as a cold chill filled the arena.

While Leto was within the icy block, she wondered about the meaning of life. As the Duskull across from her busied himself with exposing his armpits to the world, she suddenly deemed that life's greatest purpose was goat cheese, and only that. She nodded and patted herself within her mind at her great accomplishment.

Mephistopheles commanded even more shadowy tendrils to his side.

Lenore looked curiously at the trapped rattata. She wasn't sure why, but she felt as if it was a kindred spirit, and not the kind that Mephistopheles could count as.

Seeing the Duskull had taken notice of her, Leto began to signal to him earnestly. By now, the ice was beginning to melt, and she found she was more capable of movement than before.

Mephistopheles' eye glowed, and a number of seashells lifted up from the shore. The tendrils grabbed hold of them, throwing them at at the rattata with force.

The seashells were well received, and they embedded themselves nicely into the Rattata. Leto didn't appreciate them too well, though, and they were met with a shrill cry on her part. In hopes of stopping it, she summoned a storm of ice and directed its force to the Duskull who caused her pain.
