ѳnce upon a time.... isn't that how all fairy tales start? Well, when exactly IS that? Near the middle ages, we'll say, for now. Anyways, Once Upon a Time, there was a land called Faerein. In Faerein, that is where all things fairy tale lived. Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, the gingerbread man.... you get the idea. However, not only did the good characters live there, but the villains too. The big bad wolf, the wicked witch,... the clever fox. The entire place is split; good side on one, bad on the other, the different sides separated by a thickly wooded and foresty area. Happily Everafter, and Happily Neverafter, those were their village names. Quite easy to get confused or lost, eh?
Both sides never truly trusted the other, and for years a silent movement had been brewing. One person would infiltrate the other side, attempting to alter the other side, to make it more like their own. IF the perpitrator was caught, severe punishment would occur from the opposing side. It's been like this always, and will be as such for many times to come... Until things begin to happen in Everafter, where they might realize that they're all not so different. Especially when fighting against a common villain: The SHADOWS.
Both sides fear it, this shape-taking demonic forms that would gobble up a fairy tale character, obliterating that sole person, taking them out of their own Story, alternating it completely even! But, my friends, the SHADOWS have yet to appear..... In the time that our story shall be, the two sides will have to band together to defeat the unknown force that threatens everyone's fairytale existance.
This story is now fast-forwarded to the present day. Everything in the land of Faerein has remained the same. The same technology (which is limited), the same hatred for each side, and the same shenanigans to alter the villages. Now, Some of you may be wondering: If a fairy tale character grows old, who inherits the Title?
Well, every person in Faerin has two names: they have their heartname and their Tytle. Their heartname is the one in which they are given at birth. An ordinary name, first and last. BUT, their Tytle is their fairytale name, like Robin Hood or Sleeping Beauty. Once a fairytale character grows old, they choose to pass on their Tytle to their child. So, let's say Little Red Riding Hood has outgrown her Tytle. Then her child, be it son or daughter, will inherit the name. The Tytle can then be altered slightly by the new heir to fit their needs. So if Little Red's child was a boy, he could simply call himself Red as hisTytle.
Anyways, strange things have been happening. Everyone has forgotten the threat of the SHADOWS. After all, the last time they struck were over a hundred years ago.... You hear stories of them every now and then... a little whisper, or passing sentence, but usually only for scaring children to get them to obey. But, wierd things have been happening. People in Everafter and Neverafter have gone missing. More than missing. Some of them have been forgotten, completely erased from the entire population's memory. Why?
If the leader of the SHADOWS sends his recruiters to your door, they make an offer to join his forces. IF you say yes, you are altered slightly, given a much darker looking appearance. However, IF you say no, you are obliterated. The entire being is shattered, forgotten, erased from their fairy tale as well as the memories of all they had known.
A few of our Faerin civilians have noticed such a tragedy, and are wondering what is going on. Some of them may take it upon themselves to find out what is going on. Others may form groups to investigate. But in due time, all must come together to take on the SHADOWS and their leader.
