The tunnel you chose is lit by a single twisting line of light. It veers sharply several times, leading you deeper into the rock until you can hardly remember what direction you started from. Pretty soon you see a layer of frost on everything - the walls, the floor, your clothes. In the distance you hear whispering.

This tunnel seemed to go on for some time. Not only that but it was rather chilly. Moreso than the other areas thus far. Shun let out a frosted breath while shifting himself in place. His hands were staying firmly in his pockets for now. Even with having been bundled up by Mitsu, he was still feeling the cool airs getting to him. Moving around did help some, but not by a whole lot.
As he moved on, he began to hear faint whispers. They were too quiet for him to make out what they were saying, but it was enough to make him a little wary. Narrowing his eye, he slowed his pace. The Chimera hadn't been much of a talker, but that wasn't to say others in this place wouldn't be speaking. If the 'gatekeeper' was any sort of indicator, he supposed there was a good chance who or whatever they ran into would be a hostile.
Even with the split, they still had a sizable group so sneaking past what was ahead may not be plausible. No matter. He was willing to cut down whoever he needed to. Aymet needed this right?

Despite the frost all around, the ghoul did not for one moment let herself think that she could be at ease in what would be a familiar environment. Edel was quite aware of the whisperings that came from deeper within the tunnel, as was she of the fact that Shun was ahead of her. For a while she trailed behind silently, unwilling to disturb the reaper at work. From what she could see, he seemed like the pretty serious type of guy, and would probably not take to mindless chatter.
“Do you know what is it we're here for?” she finally asked, out of necessity and admittedly, to break the awkward silence she had allowed for some time. The ghoul was unfamiliar with Aymet, or the purpose of the trip to begin with; she had only signed up out of curiosity and a chance to visit Dragonfell. And perhaps, because she thought she would be of some use with the climate to her advantage. That hasn't worked out so well, to be honest.

Shun paused completely as he heard a question addressed to him. Turning around, he saw that it was Edel. He wasn't too familiar with the ice demon, but had seen her around here and there. It didn't seem like she and Danny got along all too well from what he observed. "I have an idea, yes. The phylactery Aymet wears is damaged. He is likely seeking a way to repair or replace it," he replied. It seemed more plausible given the bone chimera they had run into. And seeing how the damaged phylactery seemed to be quite an issue for the dracolich, it made sense to want to do something of it. Of course, everyone's reason for jumping in on this was probably a little different from student to student.

“And I suppose Aymet should be leading this expedition?” she asked rhetorically, with a sigh. In light of the dangers of their surroundings, it would be better if they got the job done quickly. No time for holidaying then, pity. Edel scanned the walls of the tunnel with her eyes before turning her gaze back at the reaper.
Shun seemed to be pretty knowledgeable about the purpose of the trip, so who better to ask now then? “So, what is it we have to do, what or who do we look out for? Or some general instruction would be nice maybe,” said she in a businesslike manner, though not brusquely, not wanting to waste too much time. Having a bunch of students in the middle of foreign territory with no other supervision other than themselves did not bode well.

"In a sense, he is. But his state seems to be rather fragile because of the damaged item. It seems to have a direct connection to how his fear is held together," Shun stated while moving down the tunnel. It didn't look like there was anything notable in this area thus far. Letting out a frosted breath, he just kept a sharp eye out while keeping his voice to a low murmur. He didn't want to give whatever was ahead too much of an indicator that they were here. "That I am uncertain of. I'm here to simply help cut down anything that gets in the way."

Leo had chosen the second tunnel, and already a few meters in she was regretting it. That whispering.. it was ominous. But she could hardly go back now, when she'd specifically said she'd take this tunnel. What if the Reaper boil with the rats followed her? Couldn't just backpedal out of here and leave him, then. But speaking of Reaper boils, the one who'd taken charge earlier with the chimaera was here. She felt more secure in the knowledge that he seemed to know what to do, at least - him and the older ghoul who'd been nice to the younger ghouls when they were fighting. Yeah, she was pretty sure they'd encounter something dangerous here considering the awful whispering in the air, but Leo was a follower and here seemed plenty of people who knew their stuff to follow. "I'll help, as best I can." Maybe she could finally contribute something to this expedition. "Just tell me what to do when the time comes."

Sheridan was cautious as he stepped into the tunnel, his senses alert, his gaze scanning every section of the tunnel, his ears straining to catch any sound. He did not wish to walk right in to (or lead Tess in to) the jaws of another waiting chimera...or whatever else may have been lurking in these mountains. His eyes narrowed, a flick of his tail, his hand tightened protectively around Tess'. "Do you hear that?" Voices, whispers in the distance. Were they really there, or did he imagine it, were his senses playing tricks on him?

Quiet, ominous whispers? Hel didn’t care. She needed to catch up to Shun. Sounds of boots hitting the tunnel floor would be heard, and next a two tone ghoul would barrel through the small group that had gathered around Shun. Once she was at the grim’s side though, Hel skidded to slow her pace to fall into step with Shun. “ Ah, there you are!” She grinned a bit at him, and then looked around to see who she had the misfortune of pushing through. The reaper squinted at Edel and Leo. “… Oh! Hello there, Snowflake and…” Hmm. Hel didn’t hear a name for that one yet…though she did nudge Shun and pointed at Leo. “ She looks like a warped ghoul-version of Mot!” Now, Hel tried whispering this. Key word, tried…meaning it didn’t come across as a whisper.

Wow, okay, she wasn't quite sure whether that was an insult or not. She didn't know anyone named Mot, so who knew? Generally when people whisper and point at you though, it wasn't to say anything pretty. And how on earth did you even reply to something like that? "Thanks, I'm sure." She'd have like to say something cutting, but that wasn't really her forte. She did develop a nice muscle tic by her eye, though.

The ghoul had no real difficulty with darkness, her kind favored the lack of light. But the cold was a different matter. She didn't hate it but she wasn't particularly fond of it either. And while she definitely preferred the cold over fire, it didn't necessarily mean she enjoyed being cold.
She pressed herself as close against Sheridan as she could without making it difficult for either of them to walk, half-tempted to ask him if he could maybe light a fire but with what, Tess didn't know. She wasn't going to suggest the books they got.
However at the question of hearing voices, Tess gulped as she admitted, "M-maybe, that wasn't you was it?"

Arg, there was frost in his tail, clinging to the the tips of his whiskers and his hair. While Sheridan was not bothered by the cold (though the air was thicker and more enclosed than he like), he did not care at all for the frost in his tail. His tail flicked with a snap, flinging the frost toward the wall before wrapping lightly around Tess, hopefully offering her some warmth. Not so much as the mane of his natural form would have, but just now his student form was far more practical in the enclosed space of the tunnels. When she spoke, he shook his head. "We should be careful, we don't want to run into another creature like that one." He gestured behind, toward the room that had held the chimera.

Hearing that about Aymet humbled her, most of her indignation about the lack of direction for the trip now gone and replaced with a vague idea of what to do. Edel blinked, unsure of how to react to Shun's frank answer of his role in the expedition. Though she couldn't say she hadn't expected it...
They were soon joined by a few more students, Edel nodding politely to Leo as she came up towards them, as did she to Hel when the reaper arrived.
“Edel.” she clarified in a mock serious tone. She didn't quite catch what Hel had said of Leo, though she wasn't too bothered. Her attention had been drawn to the glow coming from Sioban as the banshee entered the tunnel. What was she holding-
The ghoul stood there in horrified silence. “Uhm....” was all she could muster a few moments later. Edel gave Sioban a meaningful look.

A few more students had come on in, including Hel... who he could practically hear coming a mile away. Shun gave her a rather sharp look for that. "Watch your step. We don't want to be alerting whatever's in this cave before we can tell what's in it," he hissed quietly. Hel was loud. This could potentially be an issue, but he wasn't really sure yet. "This is Leo," he stated before staring at the Valkyrie. ... Well. Maybe she's like a girl version of Mot. He didn't quite see it though. Not really. Regarding the first year, he nodded to her and her request. Right now there wasn't a whole lot to be said for what to do aside from not making too much noise and keeping a sharp look out. Briefly, the Reaper's attention shifted towards Edel as she seemed startled by some-- What the hell was the banshee holding? Shun just stared hard, then shook his head and moved on. He wasn't going to ask.
