 Artie Hopper
"This... must be the place..." Artie muttered as he stood in front of the door to Dorm 214. This dorm belonged to a client who had just called him, and it didn't help that this client was female, so he was a bit, well quite terrified to go, but he knew that to overcome his fear, interaction was needed. "O-Okay... here I go.." He muttered and he carefully knocked on the door of the dorm. He had his laptop with him in his laptop bag with some other computer tools that may be needed.

Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. Hearing the knock on her door, Rebecca stood up quickly from her seat. It wasn't an unexpected visit, since she'd been the one to make a phone call to a programmer in hopes that he could work on her computer. With the school year around the corner, she would need her laptop, and while she'd just gotten her allowance from her parents, she was in no rush to spend it all on an expensive company. Hence the reason for calling a freelancer. Moving across the floor to the door, she opened it enough to confirm her assumptions of who was at her door, then moved aside and opened it wider as she said politely, "Hi. I'm Rebecca, and I hope you're Artie?" She paused, letting him reply as she focused on keeping only her own thoughts. Luckily, the man didn't seem to be thinking any one thought specifically, so it was easier to keep them at bay.

Artie Hopper Artie couldn't help but become stiff out of habit in fear. He doubted he would ever could kick the habit, but that's how it was for him. "Y-Yes.. I'm Artie.. N-Nice to meet you... M-May I come in?" He asked her politely with an awkward smile. 'Keep calm Artie, resist the urge to run... You need to overcome your fear..' He kept thinking to himself as a poor attempt at encouraging himself. But, he did not run away, and did his best to remain calm, since he had work to do. This girl, Rebecca, did seem nice, so he doubted he would have any need to be afraid.

Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. Waving him inside, she nodded to his introduction, pleased that he was here. Now perhaps her computer would ready in time for classes. "Of course. Do whatever you need to do to get set up." Having no knowledge of computers at all, she was willing to stay completely out of the way, and just hope that his pricing would be fair since neither she nor her brother would know what was a scam. Sighing inaudibly at the vulnerability of the situation, she chose to just remain positive. Closing the door behind Artie, she felt a prickle of fear in the back of her head, and realized very quickly that it wan't her own. Her abilities were so intrusive, and she hated how other's emotions could affect her own. Pushing down the worry, she spoke up, asking sincerely, "Is anything wrong?"

Artie Hopper Artie nodded a bit as he was allowed inside and looked around a bit. He then spotted the laptop in question. "O-Okay, I understand.." He replied with a curt nod as he went over to her laptop and opened it, fear still pretty high in his mind as he took out his laptop and set it up. He then froze up a bit at her sudden question, "A-Ah.. don't worry about it, it's just how I am.." He replied quickly with a wave of his hand. He quickly turned back to her laptop and turned it on and waited till it was completely and got to work on it. Luckily, Artie didn't even need his own laptop and was done in a matter of about half an hour, though he was silent the whole way through, only typing on her keyboard could be heard. He then gave a light sigh of relief, "Okay then, it's all done.. Take a look, and see if it's to your liking.." He said to Rebecca with a more natural smile, having gotten more relaxed as he worked on the computer. He turned the laptop towards Rebecca so that she could examine it.

Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. Letting him boot up her computer and do whatever he need, Rebecca rose a brow at his answer, but she took it without another word. He needed to work, and she would let him do so in silence. Moving to sit on the couch, she spent the time flipping through a magazine, reading up on the latest gossip inside the veil. It wasn't he most interesting thing she could be doing, but it was enough to pass the time. She looked up and stood when Artie was finished, only to hear him tell her that he was done after. Oh...she'd let his thoughts in while she was focused on the articles. Managing to push back the threads of thought, she nodded to him instead happy to see a smile and feel a calmer vibe from him. "Alright." She moved to the laptop, testing the mousepad and keys. After a few seconds, she was satisfied, and told him so as she leaned back. "It seems fine. Thanks. Um, how much do I owe you?" Fairly certain that he wouldn't scam her, as she could always check, despite the unfairness of her ability, she went to retrieve her wallet from the coffee table. There should be enough, and if not, her brother wasn't too far away.

Artie Hopper Artie watched her silently as she tested the mousepad and the keys, and after a few seconds she gave her reply. "Ah, well since it wasn't that difficult, 25 is enough, and if you still have any problems.. I-I can always come over and help out." He replied with a lightly embarrassed smile. He was being as honest with his work as he could, and always did his best to give decent rates. He had no idea of her ability, but he had no intention of lying and he didn't do so. "I-If you have any other questions you'd like to ask, feel free to.." He said to her with light smile again as he scratched the back of his head a bit. He was still very uncomfortable, but not as uncomfortable as he first was. 'It's not like she can read my mind.. she doesn't need to know about my gynophobia...it'll only make things awkward..' He thought with a light shiver down his back. 'Aaah.. calm down...calm down...' He continued in his thought as he breathed a bit to calm down.

Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. Pleased with the price, she quickly picked out the necessary bills before setting her wallet back down. Moving to give Artie the money, she paused mid-step when his thoughts entered her mind. They were so strong, and she'd let her guard down again...her brother would be so disappointed. It was bad enough, to hear another's thoughts, but when the other person didn't know, she almost felt as if she was stabbed with guilt. "Sorry!" she said perhaps too loudly as she worked to isolate her thoughts and emotions from the man's. "I...sorry." she said again, handing him the money as she explained, "I can read your mind...but I don't mean to...sorry, but you just think so loudly!" She sighed in exasperation, making sure to take a deep breath to calm down before going back to what he'd said earlier. "Thank you for fixing my laptop."

Artie Hopper Artie blinked a bit when she suddenly stopped and apologized, confused on what was going on. She suddenly apologized to him again and handed the money to him before declaring that she could read his mind. "E-Eh?" He replied, obviously dumbfounded about what she had said. "A-Ah.. I-It's okay... U-Um.. a-about the mind reading thing...You're not the first.. I-I hope I didn't offend you in any way..." He said, suddenly apologizing to her in his own way. He hoped that him having a fear of women that he was doing his best to cure on his own wouldn't offend her, though it was hard for him to do this alone.

Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. After letting herself calm a bit, she nodded, surprised to hear that she wasn't the first to read his mind. Well, that helped to ease her guilt slightly. Very slightly. "Why you're thoughts offend me?" she asked quietly. It wasn't as if he'd insulted her. No, he'd just had a very personal worry and she'd picked it up without permission. That made her the one to be angry with. "I'm sorry." she repeated, unsure of what else to say, despite his forgiveness. It seemed sincere, too, as he was yelling or thinking-ah! She'd almost pried again. She had to take several moments this time, mentally chatising herself as she remembered some of the tips her brother had given her, on how to control her power even when frustrated. "I hope I haven't offended you."

Artie Hopper Artie blushed lightly when she asked why they should offend her and said that she hoped that she didn't offend him. "A-Ah... No worries... Y-You don't look or seem like a bad person... So all is forgiven.. " He replied honestly with a kind smile. He honestly did kind like her with how nice she had been to him and how honest she was to him about reading his mind. "Well.. my fear isn't as bad as it was when I was younger and during my high school days, but it is hard to g-get it cured on my own..." He added with noticeable embarrassment as he scratched the back of his head again.

Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. Ensuring that no more stray thoughts would enter her mind, she managed to focus on his words. He still seemed nervous, but that was something she couldn’t worry about, as her second ability was a sixth sense, and she would never be able to lock it away like thoughts. Still, she knew that he would have appeared nervous without her ability, with his occasional stutter. His smile helped her calm, and she nodded to show that she was listening when he spoke again. Considering his fear and that fact that half the world was of the female population, she could see where it would be a difficult thing to overcome alone. "You should try meditation, or some other calming activity. Perhaps feng shui." The fact that he was talking to her meant that he was certainly improving, but she was of the opinion that meditation would help even more. Learning the ins and outs of one’s own mind would help anybody with anything, and she assumed that would include gynophobia.

Artie Hopper "I-I've tried meditation and things like that.. I've even tried hypnotism twice, but even that was rendered ineffective when I look at myself in the mirror after a shower..." Artie replied honestly as he looked down a bit. 'The reason for that being this scar on my torso...' He thought to himself with a light sigh. He wished to himself that he had someone who would help him with his fear, preferably a girl, since he believed that interaction with girls would help him get over his fear. That, was the other reason why he became a freelance programmer and computer help person. "W-Well... I-I guess I'll be going now.. I hope..things go well for you in the school.." He said to her with a kind smile and started heading to the door to leave.

Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. Shaking her head at the mention of hypnotism, as she never thought of the act as helpful, she remained quiet, leading him back to the door as he spoke. "Thanks, I hope your business goes well." She was quiet for a few more moments before she had an idea, and she quickly told him, "Wait. I could help...with the meditation, I mean." She shrugged, obviously trying to keep her offer nonchalant. Yet, it was the best way for her to apologize for reading his mind without reason. Actually, giving him a wish would be, but she was still rather terrible at that side of her abilities. So, she continued on about the meditation. "My abilities are all about the mind, so I know fairly well how most work. I could show you how to work on your own mind."
