◆Soft spoken: Rhapsody rarely raises her voice or speaks in anger. In fact, she's not particularly talkative in general save around those few people she's very close to. This can often give people the impression that Rhapsody is shy or aloof, but in truth she is merely not one to spill words in meaningless chatter. She would much rather listen, and learn.

◆Observant: By nature, Rhapsody is observant. This is probably largely due to the fact that she's more comfortable existing in the dreamworld than the corporeal one, and within dreams it pays to be paying attention. You never know what deep secrets or hidden knowledge you'll discover. And Rhapsody is very skilled at drawing out secrets.

◆Clever: Natural intelligence is a hallmark of the Galkin family and Rhapsody possesses her fair share. That being said, cleverness is not quite the same beast. Rhapsody can take the things that she has learned about people by various means and use that knowledge to her advantage. She has become quite talented at working out the riddles of prophecy and vision that visit her as well. Rhapsody loves complicated problems and difficult puzzles, which is probably part of the reason she is so drawn to arcane magic and ancient texts.

◆Spacey: When Rhapsody is distracted with a puzzle or deep in thought, she has a tendency not to pay attention to her surroundings. She'll frequently pace and pick things up only to set them down somewhere they don't belong and not even realize she is doing it. This habit is quite irritating to her brother, who often finds himself following her around putting things back where they belong and casting glares in her general direction.

◆Confident: Head up, shoulders back, Rhapsody always carries herself with grace and confidence. She very rarely questions her decisions once she has made them and criticism or opinions outside of those belonging to her family mean little to her. This is a girl who knows her place in the world and who is entirely comfortable with who she is.

◆Damsel In Distress: While not your typical "fair maiden", Rhapsody possesses no real defensive or offensive magic. She learned the basic spells of course, but against any kind of skilled opponent she doesn't stand much of a chance. She carries a small dagger with her that is spelled to always be sharp and which works in a pinch, and when danger strikes her immediate response is to transform to her owl form where she can wield her razor sharp talons and beak to aid her in escape. This lack of focus in battle magic could be due to an oversight by her parents, who also leaned in a more cerebral direction. But it creates a significant inconvenience in Rhapsody's life, and so it is not unheard of for her to need rescuing.

◆Sweet Vanity: Like any girl who has been raised being told she is beautiful, Rhapsody is confident in her own attractiveness. She appreciates beauty in general, whether it is overt and typical or odd and unusual. She loves to surround herself with pretty things and is always pleased to receive a glittering trinket.

◆Surprising: While overall Rhapsody comes across as quiet and reserved, it is the little things that so deeply endear her to those she is close to. For example her laugh is bright and silvery and completely infectious. She has been known, on occasion, to surrender herself to a wild and playful side. Those lucky few who can coax a true grin from Rhapsody are rewarded with a genuinely sweet girl who brings forth a great sense of peace and joy.

Likes: Reading and other quiet, solitary tasks. Being with Rook. Puzzles and riddles. Spending time in people's dreams. Very rare meat.

Dislikes: Crowds and loud noises. Team activities and sports. Not knowing where Rook is at any given time. Overcooked or burnt food.

Hobbies: Reading and studying. Sewing, embroidery, knitting and crocheting. Her oddest hobby is a penchant to articulate mouse skeletons in cute or amusing positions. She often displays these in the shop she and her brother run.

◆Dreamwalker: Rhapsody has the ability to step into other people's dreams. Depending on the dreamer, she may or may not be able to affect the dreams that she is in. Both Rhapsody and the dreamer must be asleep for this to occur.

◆Dreamweaver: Rhapsody can pull other people into her own dreams, where she has complete control over the environment. This can be useful for communicating with many people who are far away. It can also be used to manipulate people for a variety of reasons. All parties must be asleep for this to occur.

◆Unbidden Vision: Rhapsody occasionally has prophetic dreams and visions. Usually these come unexpectedly, taking her over completely. However the visions can be coerced by scrying with either fire or water.

◆Divination: Rhapsody has strong skills in the arts of divination. She possesses both an ancient set of runestones carved from ebony and a deck of tarot cards that have been in the family for years and contain none of the familiar images. She is adept at a variety of other divinitory techniques as well.


Rhapsody and her twin brother Rook were born to Wendel and Evelyn Galkin twenty years ago. They grew up spending the school year in Lumena where their parents had very comfortable quarters in the royal castle. Both Wendel and Evelyn were scholars and instilled in their children a love of knowledge and learning. While they were not the most physically demonstrative parents, they expressed their affection through encouraging words and praise regarding their children's academic and intellectual triumphs and accomplishments.

During the summers the children would go to their grandparent's estate near Clarus Arbor. These were often golden days for Rook and Rhapsody as they learned what it meant to be mononokes and how to harness their animalistic abilities. While neither Wendel or Evelyn had the shapeshifting trait, their grandmother did and she spent a great deal of time helping the twins. Her animal form was a land-bound animal, however, and it was not long before the twins started sneaking out on their own for night-time flights and hunting trips in their snowy owl skins. During one such trip a hunter shot an arrow straight through one of Rhapsody's wings. The twins never did find out whether it was intentional or accidental, but Rook carried his injured sister on his back all the way home to their grandparent's house.

The twins have always been incredibly close. Partially because they have that unique bond that only twins possess, but also because they grew up tutored by private royal tutors and without extensive access to the world at large or much of a variety of social opportunities. When they finished their schooling and reached their majority, Rook and Rhapsody decided that it was time to get out on their own. Now they live in a comfortable townhouse on a quiet, tree-lined street in Lumena within walking distance to the library where they both love to spend time. Additionally they run a very small little shop called the "Bird's Nest" which carries any number of odd bits and pieces that they have acquired or created over time. Rook sells much of his runework here and Rhapsody frequently brings rare tomes to the shop (though she is often unwilling to actually sell them). There is a small but well appointed apartment above the little store where the twins can stay should the hour get to late or the topic they are studying grow too fascinating to abandon for home.
