Now completely bandaged, how she managed to wake up was a miracle. But to her knowledge of where and why she was- didn't come to her in the first few moments. Her eyes slowly slitted, closed and slitted for a good few moments til she had them focused. Thereafter, she shook her head and groaned. Moving her paw slightly up and over her wound. Causing a slight hiss feeling but relaxed some time after. Her head had felt light and what seemed unusable.
Another grown and she'd then lift her paw to her head but didn't quite make it there...
Half way before her energy depleted.
Sleeping for several days now would sap your energy.. Rolling her tongue inside her mouth to get the chappy feeling away. Her ears now completely flowy, acting more like hair than ears the way they draped down..

“Amelie…” Subito breathed out her name as he entered the den, his eyes eyeing the paw that had dropped weakly to her chest. “You’re awake!” From his paws fell a great number of small fresh fruits, herbs and seeds that he’d brought to her. Next to her bedding one could see the same kind little nourishments that had grown too dry as the patient refused to wake.
Subito ran to her side with quick steps, realizing in that moment that a part of him had never expected to see her bright green eyes again. With a paw he caressed her cheek, speaking softly in a worried whisper.
“Don’t strain yourself. You need to rest. Are you hungry? Are you thirsty? Do you need anything?”

Her heart hadnt realized what happened to end up this way, and the memories seemed like they were locked away. For now.
When her cheek was caressed by paws that were out and about, rough, but still so soft and gentle. She faced up, and from her closed eyes, she opened them and a smile hugged her cheeks. Her face snuggled in to his paw more, and she lifted her own to hold his against her more. "So gentle.." She commented, holding in the moment with her eyes closed then reopened them look at him. "Im fine." Her voice was extremely gentle. "I dont need anything except ....maybe some company." A soft chuckle before grabbed her side and hissed.
"Subito... Thank you. Come here, sit with me a moment.." With the paw she was held his with, she extended it to brush his face.. Her already soft heart went to mush.."Your so handsome... Why havent you found yourself a nice gal.. I wonder." She hadnt realized she was still brushing his face. "You shouldnt have to be stuck here caring for.. Me." Even talking was becoming difficult but now that she had said that, she felt a lot better. She had wanted him to find happiness like the rest. Even Addy had been seeing someone! That grouchy badger. Finally, everyone was finding love recently and... Subito seemed like he was falling behind.
She hadn't notice all the things that made it obvious. "Even now asking for company I feel selfish." Her voice had gotten weaker but she smiled non the less.. Her paws retracted to her chest.

Chi Sohma I'm so sorry for the wait! Real life has been hectic and I'm slowly catching up to my tags now. <3
“You would wonder, wouldn’t you?” he said very quietly, a soft smile lingering at the edges of his mouth. He let her paw return to her chest but leaned down to kiss it gently where it rested. “You’re not selfish. This would be the perfect time to be but you’re not.” His voice was still a tiny whisper as he spoke in her ear. “You must rest. Don’t strain yourself.”

"Do you believe you can hold me down for very long.." It took her some time to say the full sentence between breaths, but she smiled and almost laughed. Though it hurt, and she tightened her grip to her chest in result. Her body was fragile but her spirit was restless.
"I have already slept a while haven't I?" But when he kissed her paw.. A blush crossed her cheeks. The first male to do so without restraint of any sins. All had prior intentions.. But she enjoyed being with Subito. Heavily, but she didn't notice what was right in front of her. "I just.. don't want anyone to be troubled on my accord. I know its hard.. enough to find .. ones own life. Not to get bothered by a make-shift mother like me." When she said, the lingering feeling of emotional pain was there- but she tried to hide it with a smile.
"I think about everyone a lot.. and wonder why they are so scared to leave the nest." Referring to mainly Aiolos but she knew with that bird- and his two kids , she was gunna take care of him for a LOOOONG time.
Her paw softly rose to his face... But she never saw Subito like that. Not some child.. but something tender. But of course she mistaken that feeling.. She traced her digits along his cheek. "Your... such a sweet one.. I never thought I would enounter one.. such as yourself." Pawing at him softly.. "You have taken care of me.. yet you are still here.." Her words began to slurr and she gulped hard to clear her throat then closed her eyes- so peacefully.. To relive the memories of Subito saving her- showing bravery.

“I’ll hold you for as long as I can.” Subito replied softly, twisting the meaning of her words without even thinking. It almost amused him how quickly the idea had come to him and a strong mental image floated to his mind: him holding Amelie for what seemed like an eternity.
“They’re not scared. They’re happy. Why would they leave? They love you.” He said, his voice somehow even gentler by the end of the short sentences as her paw reached his face.
I love you, he almost said at that time and the painful conflict was visible in his eyes. With difficulty he held those thoughts in. She was too weak for him to drop something like that on her when it was so obvious that she saw him as little more than a family member. Once she was better he’d confess his true feelings, Subito decided but until then he would not do anything to jeopardize her recovery. He feared she would be shocked and confused and maybe even sad. The only thing he was scared of was having her reject him so bluntly that all his hopes would shatter in an instant. He walked away to pick up the herbs and fruits that now littered the ground and brought them to her side.
“You should eat something.” He said, adjusting his tone to a more cheerful note, smiling brightly at the other hare.

Her real age started to show, that young side where it touched the heart when someone said something. The hare's heart skipped- a beat. Though large ears of hers must have mistaken what he said.. She held her eyes to his for just a moment..
"Eat- ..... Only if you'd eat with me." Eyeing him playfully. But that went away as he got closer to her, and her whole body went numb. When he came close enough, she made her body lift just a little- Even she too-feared- just a little. About things that normal others would take for granted or a grain of salt for that matter. Once his body neared she pulled on his arm and in to a hug.. She needed one.. but the bend made her ache and whimper a little but she held on.. As if for dear life.
"Thank you.." Her voice was ultimately more tender..
For him being there- she wanted him to KNOW how much.. she appreciated him but til this point all her hugs were light- this one.. was a real hug. Pouring the feelings with its tightness. He wasn't like a son- daughter- brother or sister.. He was just something that she couldn't think right now or- nor put her paw on. But it was warm and tender.

“I just ate.” Subito lied with a gentle smile. He hadn’t been able to eat properly in days and it was becoming increasingly easy to lie about the matter when he was asked about it. He was stunned when she pulled him closer but quickly returned her hug with an unusual fierceness, holding her tightly in his paws.
I love you so much, you silly girl. His thoughts were almost said aloud but the hare was still doing his best to keep his composure and refrain from saying something that might upset his recovering friend who was obviously in need of comforting.
“I’m here. I’ll always be here, alright?” It was the closest to a confession as Subito was willing to go and the young hare finally released Amelie. Instead of backing away he just sat very close to her, so much that she could touch him if only she leaned to the side.
“Now eat. And rest. I’m here.” He said warmly, holding a small berry to her. He made himslef comfortable, eyes fixed on Amelie but he knew that soon the weariness of the previous days would take over him.

Could she even consider it.. She stayed in the hug, though she could feel the conviction of his arms. It was a hug, that could be summarized as magical. It made her feel safe.. Snuggling her nose in to his neck, until he escaped her closeness.. and offered her a berry. Looking up to him, with huge eyes..
Taking it, and believing his white lie before she took a bite. Her stomach growled in remembrance of how hungry it was with just ONE bite.. Then she leaned against him. "Seems I was hungrier than I seemed." A chuckled escaped her, but that made her chest move which caused the pain to surge again. She'd have to be more careful, but still- laughing was the best medicine, being happy was too.. And still, she did not look as though she feared at any point in time during so.
It happened- its life. They were at the bottom of the food chain yet, she acted as though such a title could be rolled off her shoulders. Always. Looking at him and smiling when she heard the words.. It was.. nice to hear. He was... A happy sigh came out of her as she snuggled up to him and rested the cheek on his shoulder as she nibbled the berry, but offered him some when she was half way.
"Com' on, humor me at least." Straightening her head and poking her nose to his cheek.. As if it was so natural to be this close to him and this mushy.. Like best friends- but this was certainly more the friendzone.. This was her being comfortable finally with someone.. and feeling the immense feeling of never parting ways.. Her heart was warming to him and it was like the unspoken words of forever..

Subito smiled when she started eating, relaxing a little on the spot. He took a bite out of a small berry just to put her mind at ease and found with some surprise that the action didn’t feel quite as awkward as he thought it would. It actually felt very natural to rest there by Amelie’s side, sharing and speaking softly to one another.
“Thank you.” He said with a small sigh and a smile. It was hard to say what he was thanking her for because his words seemed to carry a lot more weight than that of a friendly food offering. Subito didn’t really know. Maybe he was just grateful that they could share this moment, that she was still alive, smiling and talking by his side. He sighed again, finally allowing the weariness that he had accumulated during the last few days finally take over and he slowly closed his eyes and fell into a peaceful sleep.

She laughed so softly, and cuddled up to him more. That was the easy part, and when she kept eating- in her time nomnoming- he had fallen asleep on her shoulder. When she finally realized it, she found herself becoming even more tender. pushing her back against him as her tail wiggled beneath her. Finally, she had a moment to absorb what was around her.. Amelie was quite smart and putting two and two together wasn't at all hard now that she did clear her eyes of its haze.. "Oh... Subito... " Seeing some nuts and berries look days old. How long had he been by her side and how long he had taken care of her.
A surge went through her body again as she looked down to see the tended wound. Blinking, and grazing her paw over the leafs and cloth. Eyes slitting.. Then slowly she was about to get up before she was met with a not so happy honey badger.
"You know, he waited days for you to wake up. Only left your side to scavenge for food." Having come up by the bed, waiting for the tender moments to end to pay his respects to Amelie. The mother of the pack of predators. ".... You are blinded by your care for others wishes ... you may not want to forget your own." Slowly sitting down.
Almost jumping out of her fur, she eyed the badger and sighed when she noticed it was him. Forever now, will she have that jump, the first time she had ever been so close to death.. Her ears went up, then slicked back as he spoke. Closing her eyes and sighing, then looking back at the boy whom cared for her like so. "And if I am a burden?"
"And if you are not.. would you not take the chance to find out... " Still grumpy and upset looking but he sighed and came up to her. He wasn't afraid of nudging the two along like she had with the wilddogs she cared for. Sometimes- a nudge was just what one needed. "Your grounded. So take it easy! You won't want to get me angry." Getting up, he turned. "I have a wilddog to guide now. Goodnight." Slowly breaking their space between them and gave her a headbutt, showing her the only affection he knew how. Then, he left...
But no matter how threatening, she still saw him as a teddy bear. A fluffy grumpy tiny bear.. And instead of headbutting, she curled her tiny arms around him in a big hug.. "Thank you ..." Before she slid back in to the nesting bed and coiled so she was facing Subito.. Holding his paws in with hers..
Then planted an ever so soft kiss on the edge of his snout.. then curled in close. Watching him sleep before she too followed suit.
