It wasn't a particularly sunny day, it was having it's comings and goings today for certain. There would be long, hot periods where a creature felt they just might sweat themselves out of every ounce of energy they had left, only slightly so often punctuated by large and looming clouds. The clouds would take away all the heat for but a few meek minutes, before they would move on and the sun had taken over again. Awendela was delighting in this strange and indecisive weather, as she had found herself to be quite the comfortable temperature nearly all day. Though, it could be mentioned she hadn't moved too much. Really she'd probably only walked a couple miles since yesterday, but there was no real reason for her to wander too far from the nice little spots she'd found around here. It had been a while since she had encountered other creatures, although she wasn't complaining. Last time she'd had a run-in with a lion she ended up on the worse side of the argument, and it had been enough to show her best out of sight, out of mind for her type...
She had just gotten up and had begun sauntering toward a large flat rock she had spotted from her last laying spot. It was sticking out of the ground a couple inches and she was curious to see if it gave her any sort of better vantage point. The red-furred female gave a small 'yip!' as a small, sharp stone pierced the soft pad of her front left paw. She stopped, plopped herself to a seated position on the ground and lifted the offending paw. Awendela scowled at her paw, screwing up her nose and then huffing loudly in disdain. For this moment, she had given up paying attention to her surroundings...

Padding along, Lawalawa was panting a little heavier than normal today. It was likely due to the intense heat, but she didn't really mind all that much; she was just glad that she wasn't stuck in some form of disastrous weather. She hadn't been walking for too long now - she had only left her previous position this morning, and was in no hurry to go anywhere in particular. Even if she had wanted to go somewhere, her lack of memories would have prevented her from actually finding anywhere. It had become a bit of a scary plight for Lawa, waking up one day not knowing who or what she was, or any detail of her past at all. In fact, the only reason she had a name was because a nearby bird saw her looking quite dazed and confused and decided to help her out a bit, just to get her back on her paws. Thinking about it, it probably would have been really useful if Lawa had asked that bird to stay with her. At least they knew the land a bit better than she did, and she wouldn't feel so alone.
Drooping her head a little, Lawa's thought process was interrupted by a sharp sound, like someone had just been attacked. Well, maybe. Part of her wanted to go running up to where she had heard it come from, in case it really was someone being attacked. Luckily, her sense chimed in, preventing her from rushing head-on into a situation she knew absolutely nothing about. It didn't stop her, however, from quietly padding towards it.

Awendela sighed softly as she finished attending to her hurting paw and with a little snarl, she licked her lips and then stood again and let her gaze wander the horizon. Suddenly, what appeared to be a pink-furred creature caught her eye. It seemed that this other party was attempting to approach her with caution, and her ears perked. She pinned her tail between her legs and lowered her head, ears back and nose lifted, taking the scent of the other. 'Another of my kind...' Awendela thought to herself, opening her muzzle slightly and huffing. Well- this was interesting. It had been many moons since the female had seen any of her own kind, almost enough for her to have forgotten there would likely be others out in these grasslands. She took a few long steps in the direction of the other, then a couple quicker, scurrying-type steps and stopped. It wasn't usually like her to be the one investigating, generally she preferred to stand her ground until approached.

With everything quiet now, Lawa wasn't sure what to think about the situation now. Either something really bad had happened or she had completely misread the situation. Which, given the circumstances, was probably the most likely thing to have happened.
As she came around, Lawa quickly spotted the bright red pelt of another. It stood out vibrantly from the lands around it, much like her own pelt did. Looking at the other, she could still recognize the features that she herself carried, identifying the red creature as one of her own. It was kind of...weird, looking at another one of her own kind after so long. She had met another, once, who was quite the bitter hyena. It hadn't been the best encounter, but it was better than going on without having much of an idea about what a hyena looks like.
At this point, though, Lawa was fairly certain that no one was, in fact, in any danger at all. Letting out a sigh of relief, she gathered up her courage and called out to the other instead. "Um. Hello there." She put forth a smile, not sure what else to do at this point.

Not surprised at all that the other creature had called to her, Awendela lifted her head and ears and tilted her head. "Who are you and where did you come from?!" The scarlet colored female demanded of the creature on approach, attempting to put up a tough-guy act for this stranger, as usual. "Come here so I can have a better look at you!" She shouted again, flicking her ears back and giving a small snarl, reinforcing the act.
Awendela got to her paws and shook out her fur briskly. Her tail and hackles bristled a tiny bit, but she hadn't meant that. It was just that you never knew who someone could turn out to be once they got close to you, but it did appear this other hyena was smiling. It had an obviously female figure and scent, and this triggered something in Dela's brain that went 'lower your guard a little bit, sheesh!'. The red-furred female quirked a brow and loosened her posture slightly, though still awaiting a response to her question and demand.

Stopping dead in her tracks, Lawa was a little taken aback by the apparent harsh and confrontational nature of the red female before her. Logically speaking, though, it shouldn't have been all that surprising; any creature that was out here on its own should probably have the same approach to a stranger. But it just wasn't....Lawa's style, to not show any trust in a stranger.
Taking in a deep breath, she straightened herself, wanting to present her best side. She took a few strides forward, still trying to maintain some form of smile on her face. "My name is Lawalawa." Looking up at the other, Lawa looked a little sheepish, but sweet, like her namesake. "I guess I'm....not really from anywhere." Letting out a laugh, she was a little sad that, at the moment, it was really the truth. But, trying not to get too lost in the recent past, she kept her eyes on the other female, unsure as to what she'd do next.

The red-furred female loosened up a little as the pink one approached. It was almost against her will that her muscles uncoiled from being tensed up, but now that the other female had shared her name- and looked rather timid over Dela's faked toughness, it didn't seem a big deal. "Well then." She mused, raising a brow a little and licking her lips. Awendela fell to her hindquarters and looked over the other female. She was a little bigger than this other creature, though not by much- she noted.
"I'm not really from anywhere either." She added with a slight contemplative to her tone, "And my name is Awendela." Ears perked fully, Dela allowed a little wag of her tail. She was still willing to protect her little home, but now that the other female had mostly proven herself as harmless, the red-furred female let her guard down. "This is my little home, you see, so that's why I gotta be tough. I can't have anyone coming up and trying to steal it from under my maw, you know?" She added, feeling it was necessary to defend her....defensiveness. She shifted her weight and offered a little smile to Lawa.

"Oh, I see." Lawa stared at the other female as she apparently became a bit more eased. She was glad; she didn't want this to be a rough and rigid encounter. "It's very nice to meet you, Awendela." Grinning broadly at her, Lawa was starting to feel pretty good about this now. "My name is Lawalawa." Flopping her ears down a bit, Lawa always felt a little strange saying her full name. "But...you can just call me Lawa, if you'd like." It was all the same, really. It didn't matter if you said it once or twice, Lawa would always turn and look.
"Your home? That's sounds nice." Seeing Awendela's tail wag reassured Lawa. "And I can understand; one's home is definitely something precious that should be protected." Giving a nod, Lawa didn't really have much of a home, but she knew that she'd protect it just like this if she did.
"But don't worry, I wouldn't dare steal it. Because I wouldn't want anyone to do the same to me, so...." Keeping her eyes bright, it was almost a matter-of-fact statement.

Dela was more than happy to return the offered smiles, shifting her weight again as she sat. Her fur had finally fallen back into place as it had been before the approach of another, and she took a moment to gaze about the surroundings. There was nothing else that she could see that would present any potential hazard. "I appreciate your understanding, Lawa, and it's nice to meet you as well." The red-furred female wagged her tail again, and gestured over her shoulder with her muzzle. "There's some water at the bottom of the crater..." Awendela trailed off for a second, pushing back where she sat, "If you're thirsty..." She added, again trailing off.
It wasn't often that Dela would so willy-nilly offer her resources, but this other female was being very polite and so the red-furred female felt obliged to offer her some hospitality. "I don't know how far you've come to get here, but if you weren't around when it happened, it just rained for a while the other day, so the water is nice and fresh too." She said, again smiling, flicking her ears. "I'll show you where it is, if you like."

"Oh?" Ears perking up, Lawa was feeling a little thirsty, but she felt a bit bad taking advantage of someone else's hospitality, especially if they were so protective of their home. But then again, maybe it just showed how kind this female was, offering up parts of her home to a stranger.
"Well, I've been walking for a few days now..." Her words trailed off a bit; she didn't really want to bore the other with a sob story of how she woke up with no memories at all. She had just left that place, too, so it was still a little hard for her to think about.
"But, if you're certain, I'd gladly take you up on your offer." Wagging her tail a bit, Lawa could do nothing but smile at the red female.

Dela listened carefully to the words of the other female. She seemed to trail off, and the red-furred female turned her ears more facing Lawa. "Walking for a few days...Do you know where you're going?" Yellow eyes glanced over the other inquisitively, her own tail flicking a little bit. Suddenly, Awendela wished she hadn't asked this. It was none of her business- other creatures' business, that was. Sometimes she forgot about the way things work out here in the grasslands. Just because she had a home, didn't mean that all creatures had a home out here. "Sorry. Follow me, okay?" She said, offering a small apologetic smile.
Awendela turned away from Lawa and then began walking toward the way down into the crater. "It's just down here~" She looked back at her pink-furred acquaintance. Dela hopped down over the edge and waited just below it on a large, flat rock. There were rocks in the wall of the crater that created the perfect natural staircase, and that is why she usually went this way. It wouldn't hurt a creature to just jump on down there, but the red hyena preferred this method regardless. She wagged her own tail a little as she waited on the other.

"Um...well, not really." Letting out a laugh, it seemed a little silly to not know where one was going; but that was just it - she didn't know where she was headed. She didn't even know if she was headed in the same direction she had been before she lost her memory. But, it's the direction she was headed now, so there was no going back. "Oh, but it's alright. I don't blame you for being curious." Pulling her lips together in a grin, Lawa couldn't help but think about how nice this other female was.
Trotting along softly behind her, Lawa tried to make sure she didn't wander off. Sometimes she'd get a bit distracted being in a new place, seeing all the new things and such, and wander away from her original goal. In fact, the place where Awendela had brought her was quite fascinating as well. Lifting her head up, Lawa's mouth dropped open slightly, and her eyes got a little wide as she looked around. This was definitely a nice place to call home.
"Wow, you've really found a wonderful place to live." Taking a few steps forward before bringing her eyes back to the other, Lawa was really glad now that she had taken her up on her offer. Just seeing this was amazing for her.

Dela grinned at the other female, her tail still wagging a little. "Well I suppose it's alright anyway, you're not the first one I've met that wasn't too sure. Really, I used to be the same, until I came here..." The red-furred female trailed off for a moment, looking around. She let out a small, happy sigh and then shook her head slightly, "So I guess it works out in the end." Dela nodded to Lawa, her golden eyes smiling as well. She turned a little and began to head down into the crater towards the pond. Dela was incredibly proud of her neat little home, and though it really wasn't much, it had all the necessities, and she had worked hard to keep it.
"Thank you." She smiled back at the pink-furred female as she complimented her. "If you can pardon my initial gruffness..." Again, Awendela trailed off, pausing in her steps for a moment to turn to the other female, "You can see why I have to protect myself and my home, right?" She questioned, looking apologetically to Lawa. After a moment, the red-furred female continued on, though it was only briefly as they were near at the bottom already, and then hopped off the last 'step' onto the flat surface leading to the pool. There was a large rock at the base of the crater that blocked the view of the pool from the bottom of the steps, and so Dela waited for her new acquaintance before disappearing around it. She loved seeing the reactions of other creatures when they first came down here too, so she had to be sure to see Lawa's face when she saw the little pool.
