Nothing was going right in Azubuike's life. His sister was pregnant by some stranger and stuck in a pride that didn't allow males... what she had done was wrong, but she was still family and he had to rescue her. How far along was her pregnancy? How long did pregnancies even last? So much time had passed while he slept.
He hung his head. He had discussed the ranks and their meanings with the queen, king and shaman, even the possibility of becoming a slave... but he had been so certain he'd make at least middle class. And here he was, a lower-middle class hunter, one step from a slave.
Lost in his thoughts, he continued his restless pacing through the pride. This was his home now, like it or not. He wasn't a slave, he was free to leave - but he'd never run from anything in his life and he wasn't going to start now. The beliefs of the Mwezi'Johari might be strange to him, but he had agreed to follow them.

Taini really had no clue what life was like in the roguelands, she really had no clue what life was like not knowing that she was a slave. She had a loving mother who took care of her, and siblings who were there for her when she needed them. But there was something for sure and that was that no matter what she couldn't become something not a slave. From day one it was determined that she was a slave and yet, Taini didn't care. Taini was free in a way, it was in her own way a way that she had made for herself. She was a sweet little lion and honestly she didn't care that she was a slave. She was sad that she was by herself in her family, her mother and her siblings were normal members of the pride while she was around and no matter what she was goingt o be a slave.
It only made her sad from time to time though. Taini was the kind to make her life the best that she could no matter what was going on in her life she was trying to be as happy as she could be when she could be.
Today she was out and about really just amusing herself the best she could. She was in a good mood and she was pretty happy and was wandering today but as she did something caught her eye. The direction she was heading there was another lion and it was too late to turn around really. She paused, he probably already had seen her so it was a little too late to just wander away. So she quietly stood for a few moments. Tai was very shy and to run into a stranger and have no clue what to say was a very common thing for her. She paused for a few moments as she stared at him trying to figure out what she was going to say. But she deicded to just get out with it. "H-hello." she greeted simple flicking her tail around behind her.

Azubuike jumped, startled to find another lion in front of him. Had he really been so distracted? He looked at her curiously for a moment, trying to place her. He didn’t have the best head for faces, but he was quite certain he hadn’t met her yet. Not another member of the lower-middle class then. Her rank could be anything, as could her age. He’d learned by now that the Mwezi’Johari lions tended to be larger than him, but he hadn’t learned to judge size very well. So either an adolescent or a young adult.
Judging it best to play it safe and remain polite he said, “Hello, it’s good to meet you. I’m Azubuike… I’ve only just joined the pride, I’m afraid I don’t have the pleasure of knowing your name.”

Taini was still a little flustered of what to do. She was quiet and she watched the male before speaking to him. "Yes, Ni... Nice to met you." she stuttered a little as she planned out her words. The lioness was quiet enough as it is but with her stutter it was a little odd. Then again she really couldn't do anything about it. She was always quiet and on top of that not knowing who some one was made her a little more awkward. She stared at him before speaking to the male softly still. "I'm Taini" She spoke simply before nodding to him and pausing once again. "ha-have you been enjoying the pride?" She asked him curiously before laughing. "Not many people know me here." She said simply." It was very true she knew that for sure from day one in the pride she wasn't that well know. she wasn't born into the pride and not only that but she was also made a slave when she joined. She didn't do anything crazy like some other slaves did but regardless it wasn't very encouraging.

Azubuike felt himself soften at the lioness’ flustered manner and stutter. He stopped worrying about rank, more concerned with the lioness’ quiet manner. He still wasn’t sure of her age, but decided she must be younger than him. He remained polite, just to be safe, but for all that her pelt was blue and brown instead of red, she made him think of the siblings he had left back home. How old would they be now? He didn’t know, he didn’t even know what they looked like since they hadn’t been born until after he left.
“I’m still adjusting,” he said, “and getting used to things. I’ve never lived in a pride before… it’s a little strange, seeing so many other lions.”
He did his best to smile encouragingly. “And no one knows me at all. I’ve met all the lions of my rank, but I met so many so briefly that I hardly think I’d remember their names. I haven’t had time to make friends… and I have no family here.” For now, he added mentally, thoughts returning to his sister.

Because he was bringing up small talk she felt as if she had to keep talking about something. She wasn't really one to enjoy talking she really wanted to turn around and do something else but she knew that she couldn't do that no matter how badly she wanted to do that. Her ears flicked as she listened to him before nodding to him. She didn't completely mind company but right now when she wasn't really expecting it she wasn't in as good of a mood about it, She was actually almost nervous about it she didn't know who he was and she wasn't sure if she wanted company. She really just wanted to go about her busieness but she was quiet and pu on her happy face.
"Me to- to a point." She said with a small but nervous laugh she lived there since she was a cub but it was still odd at times, she some times didn't feel like she fit in then again she was very bad at conversation and she was always a little awkward never really completely sure of what to do with herself."Wh-What r-r-r-rank are you?" She asked him curiously not sure of what else to say to him that could start up a bit of a conversation.

Azubuike had never been very good at reading body language and neglected to notice the tell tale signs that the lioness would rather be alone. He was new to the pride and all too eager to make friends.
Nevertheless, he winced at the question. "Lower-middle," he said softly, never dreaming that the lioness before him held a lower rank than him.

The lioness turned her attention to the male and arched a brow as she did. he was a lower-middle class? That wasn't that bad. She felt like it wasn't. Then again she had been a slave for all of her life. He knew more about life out side of his rank. She couldn't help but to be a little jealous because of that. But she didn't want to say anything about that but she was going to let it go. "Thats not too bad." She said simply for a second before nodding her head. "I'm a Low-class." She mention with a very small smile on her face. "It's not that bad." He said simply at the idea of it. She honestly felt like it wasn't that bad.

Azubuike gaped at the lioness for a moment, before remembering his manners. Low class – a slave. He lowered his head, ashamed. But not of her, oh no; he was ashamed of himself and his self pity. It was true, lower-middle wasn’t so bad, not when compared to the life of a slave. He tried to think of something comforting to say, but couldn’t think of anything. What could he do, beyond apologize?
“You’re braver than me,” he said softly, surprising himself. “But maybe it’s not so bad – in a pride? No…” He grimaced, trying to find the right words. “You’re… much braver. I wouldn’t make it as a slave. I need to find my sister, help her! Bring her here and look after her…
“But right now I’m just a hunter. I’m new, I’m nobody.” He hesitated a moment, still searching for the right words. “I know… I know we’re different ranks… but perhaps we can still be friends?” He tried a tentative smile, feeling foolish.

Taini looked at the male and laughed quietly looking at her feet then shaking her head. "It's not that bad." she commented back not sure of what else to think. She really couldn't think of anything else. She knew that she was a slave and it wasn't that bad but she was used to it and she was sure that this was all new to him. "It's not that bad, everyone here is still nice." She commented simply nodding her head. "You'll get used to it." She said offering a small smile, she was warming up a bit to him, he wasn't too bad. "Yeah I wouldn't mind." A friend? She really didn't have any of those but she was pretty sure that having one wouldn't really hurt anything. she was guessing anyway, hoping.

Azubuike smiled in relief. Taini wasn't mad at him, that was good.
"As they should be," he said. What did it matter if Taini was a slave, the lowest rank? He'd never lived in a place with ranks before, but manners were universal. Even rudeness to a stranger was out of place; surely it was twice as important to be polite to a fellow pride member. Especially if that lion was now his friend. Azubuike was only lower-middle class and a new comer to boot, but he'd still help Taini however he could.
"Then let's be friends," he said with a grin. "But for now... much as I hate to impolite and leave so soon after meeting you, I have only recently woken from my initiation and I am still weak. Would you be so kind as to tell me which way the nearest spring is? I've had a terrible thirst these last few days..."

She flicked her tail around behind her before nodding her head. "I'm glad that they are nice, I mean it's odd thinking that they would be anything else, but I guess in other prides it isn't the same from what I understand." She nodded at the idea. There was something for sure and that was that interesting about this pride she knew that she was safe and welcomed regardless of what was happening and regardless of whatever rank she was in the pride. She flicked her tail behind her once again as his words of heading the other way caught her attention. "No worries, I have some things to do myself.' She really didn't but she was still being a little shy."It's in that direction." she said motioning her paws before chucking. "I would take you there but I have to go the other way," she explained simpyl with a nod and a smile on her face.

Azubuike gave Taini a slight bow. "Then I take my leave. Hopefully I'll see you around the pride."
He turned and headed to the spring, quietly glad to have made a friend in this strange, new place.
