I'M READY!
BASIC INFORMATION
Name: George Mason
Nicknames: Mason
Age: 18
Stage: New Patient
Patient Type: Werewolf victim

HISTORY:
Mason's early life was fairly uneventful. No great tragedies or life-changers; just normal boy things. Falling out of trees, scraping his knees once in a while, getting the occasional outstanding grade...the usual foolhardy and learning events with the first feelings of worth and pride. And every Sunday, he attended his father's church and talked with people. From a young age, he learned how to chat with all kinds of people and go with the flow of conversation. As he grew, he became devout to the Bible, God, normalcy, and people. And cars. He became very fond of those as well.
But things suddenly changed after one summer night where he had to get a fan from the shed after the air conditioning broke. He was thinking about what could be wrong with the A/C when something side-swipped him. He fell to the ground and a huge, dark thing was on top of him, scratching blood out of him and holding him down as he struggled. Then it tore at his throat and got his shoulder instead. All the while, Mason was screaming, and because of that, a neighbor came out with a gun and shot the thing. It disappeared into the night, wounded, and Mason was left barely alive.
He managed to recover surrounded by love and support from his family and friends. He came home to slightly-worried and cautious parents, but over the week all was okay. Until that weekend, where he woke up naked and couldn't explain where he had been, and was accused of some destruction in the house. Eventually, there was a heated argument between Mason and his father.
Before it ended, Mason blacked out.
He woke up away from home naked and bloody. When he got home after failing to get ahold of his parents, he washed himself then found their remains in the backyard. A trial soon followed after, naming him the killer of his parents. Within that month was his eighteenth birthday, and he became eligible to go to prison. There was plenty of evidence against him: traces of his hair on his parents, his black-out and a lack of alibi, and washing blood off of himself. Mason refused to plead guilty, even if it would give him a better sentence. He refused to believe this happened overall, and despaired. Eventually, his defense lawyer convinced him to use the insanity plea if only because there was a chance and he was stuck between a rock and a hard place anyways. The jury agreed he was not guilty due to insanity, and he was sent to the Asylum for evaluation and treatment, and long-time incarceration if necessary.
Mason is going to the Asylum on the heels of his parents' gory death, the accusation of being their killer, feeling...strange as of late, and having lost his ability to go to college. It is apparent that things are going to get...worse...before they get better.

He will eventually despair once he realizes he's stuck in the Worst Place On Earth. Between that and being a monster, being his normal self will be...tough...but he'll have to put that face on anyways because other people will be suffering and he's not going to mope when others need help and guidance.

And he will probably put it upon himself to clean those stinking toilets.

The experimentations will make him fearful, wary, and defensive against the doctors. Depending on RP (ie if they try to bring OUT the animal before he transforms the first time), he'll blame them for what he is for a time. Either way, he'll be indigantly dependant on them for wolfsbane, which would be the main way for his shifts to be kept under lock and key. He can take the suppressants as pills, or if he's raging as the beast, wolfsbane shots can be administered after he is taken down by silver weaponry.

FAMILY:
. Donovan Mason- Father and priest of the family's local church. A calm character, yet he took his job seriously. That isn't to say he wasn't tolerant, but he did have strict lines that could not be crossed. If they were, he would do what he felt necessary. He was never above punishment, but he did try to be fair about it; one thing he never found to be necessary was violence. Words and peace made a greater impact, and the worst people in the world always caused pain and suffering. This was his view. He also viewed that any action is forgivable if someone truly repented and changed their ways and attitudes for the better, but he didn't think that it came easily. One always has to work for what they want. And work always came above leisure. He and Mason would butt heads about that, as Donovan was something of a workaholic and believed the same of his boy. But Mason always took things a little more leisurely.
Donovan was the source of tolerance and pacificity in Mason.

. Janet Mason- Mother and the foil to her husband. He believed in work, she in play. That isn't to say that she was a freeloader; she helped with church events and food banks, but vouched for breaks for Mason when Donovan would want otherwise. She looked to the lighter side of life to ease the stress for her family, and she was their protecter. If anyone said anything about them, even each other, she would defend their name and honor. The rare times that Mason complained about his father, his mother would be there to put him back in line.
Janet was the source of loyalty and protectiveness in Mason.
Both parents imparted his socialness and enjoyment of company.

PERSONALITY:
Mason, upon meeting others, is a friendly guy. He shows kindness and sympathy to others, and tries to help them smile. He is fond of people, and even gives the unapproachable people chances. If you don't approach him, he will probably end up approaching you. However, he does try to avoid being a bother, and usually senses when he should step off.
Mason tries to be tolerant of other views and opinions, as long as they don't directly insult who and what he cares about. Then he will jump to its defense. Sometimes he gets a little preachy, but never intends to force his beliefs on others. Only truth. If someone tries to tell him what he doesn't want to hear, he will adamantly refuse it, and can actually get angry, depending on the topic
He is pretty active, and usually talks to others while walking. Walk-and-talks are pretty normal for him, and become a usual thing for others that become close to him.
Mason is quite devout, and it shows sometimes. While he wears nothing overt nor listens to much in the way of Christian-oriented music nor reads Christian novels, he is a praying kind of person and will say he'll pray for someone or "God bless you" or "It is not up to me to judge you" and takes a very "What would Jesus do" approach to things. He is also a bit uncomfortable around people that he knows are homosexuals, but tries not to bother them about it.

APPEARANCE:
Height- 6'5''
Weight- 180 lbs.
Hair color- Dark brown; usually appears black unless in certain light.
Eye color- Icy blue.
Marks/Scars- Bite marks spanning his left shoulder and a little bit of his neck. Various scratch marks are hidden under his clothing, as well as isolated freckling.
Noteworthy Traits- Somewhat unaligned teeth, ridiculous height, floofy hair. Noticable, slightly elongated canines and slightly-pointed ears.
Clothing Style- Jeans and baggy tees, for the most part; the oversized shirts usually help hide his scars. How he finds anything that can be too big for him is a mystery to many.
Wolf form- A couple inches taller, and much wider than his human form. The width comes from increased muscle tone and fur. The fur itself is the same color as his hair (black in most cases, brown in brighter light). Mason's wolf form is literal wolf-man where his head is that of a wolf's, a more-human torso, human-like arms and fingers (but clawed), and wolf-like legs. And, of course, a tail.

POWERS/TRAITS/WEAKNESSES:
Traits:
. Transformation- He's a werewolf. This happens. There are a variety of shifts available, though.
-1: Full moon change- Just like clockwork, three days out of the month, every month since coming into the Asylum, Mason turns into a wolfman. His will can delay the patchy shifting from mere seconds to maybe a minute in full (in the beginning of the transformation when he isn't fully overcome with pain), but there's no stopping it without medical aid.
-2: Stress/defense mechanism- Basically, if he overemotes negatively, adrenaline pumps and he either partially shifts or fully shifts. How far it goes depends on how much of his ability to control himself is comprimised.
-3: Partial shifts- Random parts of the body changed into his lupine form. This can look either slightly strange to grotesque. Stress and fear can make this happen, as well as a very-nearing full moon or the after-effects of wolfsbane.
Note: All types of changing, back and forth, are painful.

. Increased senses- Smell, sight, and sound are all increased a bit in human form and even more so in a transformed state. His sensitivity to these things are increased as well.

. Horror hunger- Even as a human, he has to consume a lot of meat, and that amount doubles further when the full moon is rolling around so he has energy to get through the changes and not collapse within the first hour afterwards. Warm, bloody, fresh meat is preferred, much to his chagrin.

. Animalistic behavior- When having lesser control, he's prone to growl, yelp, or even bark. This is even more likely in wolf form.

Powers:
. Healing factor- Any injuries not made from the original werewolf or silver will heal faster than for the average human.

. x

Weaknesses:
. Pure silver- Touching anything made of silver burns him like a mix of acid and fire.

. Small spaces- As a human, it's already hard for a 6'5'' guy to fit in tighter quarters. This doubles for an even larger and wider werewolf. Wiggle room is nearly impossible, and it is very easy for him to get stuck. This is especially embarrassing when he has problems in spaces he managed to fit in before.

. Perfume- It hurts his sensitive nose. A lot.

. Shifting hunger- Changes take a lot out of him. Inadequate energy storage before and/or after transforming leaves Mason very weakened and vulnerable. Physically and mentally: he is likely to pass out, and his mind struggles to keep his instincts from taking over to keep that from happening. If anyone is near during a time like that, he will lash out and attack them. The weaker can be the victims of his desperation, and the strong can take him out. It is bad on all sides for him.

. New moon- If the full moon is when he's strongest, the time of the new moon is his weakest. While this does not affect his senses, he does lose the ability to completely transform. All he can do are partial transformations, and they require more fatigue and pain than usual. Overall, he feels sluggish and sickly, like he has the flu, and doesn't want to do much of anything if he can do much at all. Total eclipses of the moon have the same, but temporary, effect.

. Aconitum- Also known as aconite, monkshood, and wolf's bane. While toxic on its own, it becomes a popular herb once processed. Its calming capabilities even affect werewolves' shapeshifting ability, surpressing it any time enough of it is used. This even includes the full moon nights. However, in Mason's case, there are repurcussions. He has an allergy to it that acts up the day after usage. During that whole day he has an 'outbreak' of lyancthropic attributes. Patches of fur, claws, a little bit of a muzzle, and a stunted yet hairless tail is the usual extent of what happens. It gets more severe the more days he uses it.
Basically, it is a weakness for surpressing his powers as well as for the oppositional after-effects.
Note: Mason will not know anything about wolf's bane unless another person (or staff) introduces it to him. ONLY the processed form works this way because otherwise he will be poisoned! Not that he'll start out knowing that, either...

CHARACTER POSITIVES:

. Easy-going- Mason has always been a pretty chill guy, and only anything related to lycanthropy can change that. For the most part, he's rather calm and collected. Only extreme things can get him in a funk, and he can tolerate a lot.

. Loyal- Mason doesn't dump friends or leave them hanging if things get rough. He'll only leave them alone if they want to be, but he'll come back if he can. If that person is dealing with something distasteful or violent, he'll be there for them still. He is protective and looks to others as his own.

. Caring- He tries to take care of people the best he can, not for himself, but for them. He honestly worries and wants to help others any way he can. He always has an open ear, and Mason listens to others' troubles if they want to share them. He is the shoulder you can cry on and the confidante you can count on to help you through your problems. Mason will approach those who seem down and take interest in them and will do his best to aid them until they're better.

. Moralistic- There are strict definitions of right and wrong, and good and evil. Mason, no matter what he is or what he becomes, will rigorously uphold the right. While he acknowledges that he sins like everyone else, he does his best to avoid it when he can and guide others to do the right thing as well. Even when sorely tempted to give in to his darker feelings, he will do his damned best to be the better man.

CHARACTER NEGATIVES:

. Secretive- Mason doesn't like to share his bigger problems with others. He'll share small things, but won't make a big deal of them. His beliefs are that he doesn't feel that anyone needs his whining or problems when they have their own to deal with. He'll also be afraid of admitting what he is to others, because even he won't really believe it himself and won't want to. He'll learn how bad this is for him to do as not warning others could get them hurt or killed.
Secretly, he also does not want to be judged as bad or evil when he wants to believe he isn't, and it hurts him greatly to know that people think that of him.

. Explosive- As Mason rarely shares what really eats at him is currently in extreme denial about himself and his past actions, while it is hard to get him angry, he will just go off in a rage if he is pushed beyond his limits. This is very, very bad, as he could lose control and get dangerous against his will.

. Stubborn- Mason refuses to believe what he doesn't want to, then no one can convince him otherwise. He is very good at denial when he needs it to keep himself from going insane or despairing. While he can normally be reasoned with, things like his parents' death and his lycanthropy will at first be like talking to a wall and it will end up just angering and not getting anywhere for anyone.

. Self-righteous- If it's the will or word of God, then that's that. And he acts the way God teaches, and can sometimes be a bit high-and-mighty about it even though he never wants to. It just kind of happens with how deeply he believes and how he wants to be helpful and useful and the right person.

LIKES:

. Cars- Since childhood, Mason has been making model cars. At first it was his parents' way of keeping him quiet for hours on end as well as teaching him to work towards a goal and feeling the pay-off of hard work. At first he didn't discriminate favorites among models, but as he got older and memorized names and types and found things he liked and didn't like about parts and pieces, he became fond of models of the 60's, and became rather...touchy...about Datsuns. From working on the smaller versions, he became interested in the bigger ones and started helping his father when working on the car or would just watch. Pep Boys became a point of interest for him.
Mason has fallen head-over-heels in love with cars, and wanted to be a mechanic after all is said and done.

. Basketball- Between the hoop at home, the courts at the park, and the little court at the church, basketball has become the sport for Mason. Whether alone or with others, it became a casual and fun thing to do, and happily lacks the complications that come with most other sports. You just need a ball and a hoop, and voila.

. Warm weather- While Mason likes the outdoors overall, summer is the best season for him. He likes heat and the attraction of life, and it feels more natural to him than colder weather and needing to wear layers. By extension, he enjoys summer storms for their brevity mixed with ferocity but also still having a comfortable heat.

. Socializing- As it's been reviewed multiple times, Mason likes people and hanging around them. He is not a party animal, per se. He doesn't need or want to be utterly crowded by people to fulfill his people need. He is actually most comfortable out in warm weather with friends, just having a good time. Just being with one person or a small group works for him.

DISLIKES:
. Illness- Any time the body betrays the person, or just feeling bad overall, is something Mason doesn't like. This is a common thing, since no one wants to get sick, and Mason has gotten very bad flus in the past. Also, he is a sympathy vomiter. He hates feeling awful, as well as when others do. However, he tries not to complain much since he knows that feeling bad is necessary for getting better. It still bothers him, though.

. Hate- You can dislike things and not be fond of them at all, but hate leads to lashing out and then pain and suffering. Hate only ends badly, and Mason tries to avoid and dilute such things as much as he can. Especially if someone becomes violent because of such feelings.

. Cold things- Mason doesn't like cold weather for the layers needed just to be outside as well as its bitterness, and he likes to avoid frozen food and drink. Popsicles and even cold coffee beverages tend to bother his teeth and he can get really bad brain freezes. He also doesn't like food that has sat out for a bit, as its lack of warmth seems to ruin some of the flavor and texture. Like it's dead.

. The color orange- While heat, warmth, spice, and sun compose a majority of Mason's being, he isn't a fan of this color. Maybe because it's associated with orange juice, acidity, and canker sores. And he really isn't fond of those.

GUILTY PLEASURES:
Country music (namely Taylor Swift), environmental movies, Liaden universe novels

HOBBIES:
Model cars, basketball, hiking, helping people

OTHER NOTES:
. Mason doesn't like killing, but it will end up being a necessity at one point or another. You cannot become a predatory animal and refuse to kill 24/7. He won't want to admit it, but he will want the thrill of the hunt and will dream of that and killing things and tearing out meat covered in warm blood.

. To avoid IC complications, this form of lycanthropy can only transfer if blood of a shifted werewolf and an open wound of the victim mix. Not just a 'bite' or saliva. If it was with saliva, then Mason would be a lot more dangerous than he already is. 8l

. I don't expect Mason to be liked, accepted, or comfortable in his new home. This is an utter fish-out-of water thing, mixed with personal issues and angst. It's supposed to be dramatic and not the easiest trasition for him on multiple levels. I'm nice to my characters like that. 8B

This is very thought out and extremely interesting. I like that he had a perfectly normal life and that his parents were kind to him and not cliched like most tend to be. However, regarding the transformation...

Being a new patient, they will most likely try to experiment on him...You should try and add some detail of how he would react within the asylum that he is now imprisoned in, and what type of way the doctors will subdue his transformation.

That's just my opinion, I'm very curious. I love what you did though C:

Note to self: his room will be windowless (unless a barred window seems more reasonable), no roommate, and no mattress (because it would end up being torn up in no time).

Asylum-related developments:

The Asylum is an awful, disgusting place of pain and evil. It is easy to lose yourself in it and become crazy, apathetic, or sadistic if not just an empty shell of a person. Staying moralistic and kind is a hard feat. So how does Mason continue to be a good person even in such a place with his own awful problems?
Because of the other people there. Mason sees this place as a test of will and faith, and must continue to help other patients and be there for them when no one else is. It will become something of a mission for him. He can't save anyone, but he might as well be the light in this dark pit.
No one deserves the horrible treatment they get from the staff and environment alike, and he will be vocal about it if he witnesses mistreatment (and most likely will be punished for it). No one deserves any of this...except for him.
Mason will have a shred of respect for the establishment for keeping the dangerous from endangering others, ie he himself. He was touched by Satan and fell to his influence (so Mason thinks) and so he deserves no more than eternal purgatory in this life and the next. His own happiness is moot as long as he's stable and contained.

After initial shock, fear, and disgust, Mason will accept experiments as a part of his never-ending personal punishment. However, he will never volunteer for them unless it is to take the place of another patient and save them from that torment. He is very touchy about treating others as less than human.

As time goes on, Mason will cling to his faith more and more as a way to keep himself sane though others trying to question it or debate it will mess with his cool more than in his earlier days.
