Art by Saedusk! *u*
Name: Gattss Millin
From a butchered version of the titular character's name in The Great Gatsby and milliner, a hat-maker.
Millin can also be a pun on million or something?? Why not.
Blood colour: [#009E4E]
Gender: Male
Symbol: Mercury is important in hat-making, you know!
Personality: For one so young, Gattss already has big dreams—to be a star, known and beloved by all for his talents! What talents? Well, his current obsession is tap-dancing, thanks to his many-legged lusus and a certain Troll Fred Astaire he idolizes. Nevermind that tap-dancing is rather outdated, Gattss will happily pick up just about any art to try and excel in, be it singing or acting or whatever else catches his attention, and better yet, catches the attention of others. The kid revels in praise, constantly trying to impress others and build himself up to be oh-so unique and talented and special.
It's precisely why he likes hat-making so much, a practically useless hobby when most horns just get in the way, but he can wear hats! Look at him! Gattss' other great love is floriography. What's that? No one's ever even heard of floriography? Exactly. Gattss loves flowers, each holding a different meaning in floriography, sentiments to be expressed that no one else may get when he wears them or gives them out, but he can be secure in his knowledge that he knows what they mean, and he's better than them all in that respect!
Despite how cute he might seem at first, yeah, Gattss is actually a bit of an arrogant brat. In a rush to grow up, because adults get to have all the fun, Gattss tries to seem mature and grown-up by lying about how smart he is and what cool adult stuff he's done. He talks down to lowbloods and even some highbloods if he can get away with it, but for the most part, even Gattss wouldn't dare. He adores highbloods, who always seem to have everything they could ever want, and will unabashedly suck up to them if it means getting on their good side.
When it comes to older trolls, those amazing and super cool teens who might as well already be adults for how much freedom they get, Gattss will be that annoying tag-along kid who will try so hard to fit in and impress them. He's easily influenced and, in turn, will be a bad influence to any other younger trolls he makes friends with, often trying to get them to help him steal or manipulating them to follow his every word. Covetous to the core, Gattss' obsession with fame stems more from the fortune that comes along with it. More than anything Gattss wants to be rich, to be able to afford whatever he wants, in whatever increments he wants, to be able to do what he wants, when he wants, and to be the most popular troll around. If you ask Gattss, money can buy happiness, and he's looking to cash in.
Strengths:
+Outgoing: Quite the social butterfly, Gattss isn't afraid to approach anyone that catches his interest. He's a common sight at events and gatherings, enamored by new sights and sounds, always looking for the next fun thing to do. He's also not at all afraid to draw attention to himself, either, be it positive or negative. Hopefully positive, but he'll take what he can get.
+Persistent: For what a seemingly flighty troll he can be, once Gattss sets his sights on something he really wants or a new art enjoys, he can be surprisingly focused, not stopping until he gets what he wants or masters his new hobby. His competitiveness plays a part in his persistence, pushing him to succeed. No matter how often he falls, he'll always get back up again.
+Optimistic: Part of the reason Gattss can be so steadfast is because he believes so wholeheartedly that he will get his way in the end. His hope is unwavering, a high self-esteem nourished by his ever-encouraging lusus, and he never allows himself to be upset by set-backs for long, always looking for the positives to seemingly terrible things. Gattss is always quick to encourage others, too. Why, if they stick with him, his greatness will surely rub off on them!
+Opportunistic: Always looking to get ahead in life, and already becoming something of a clever showman, Gattss knows show biz is all about connections. He's quick to build relationships with trolls that may help him, admiring the rich and elite highbloods and often sucking up to them to get on their good side. And of course, any chance at the spotlight or to earn a quick buck will quickly be snatched up by Gattss, even it requires more underhanded methods.
Flaws:
-Self-centered: Despite how cheerful and supportive he might seem at first, at the end of the night Gattss looks out only for himself. Any friends he makes, he expects their lives must also revolve around helping him while very often offering very little in return if he can get away with it. Most of his friendships really are rather shallow, easily dropped if said "friend" fails to live up to his demands.
-Emotional: A terrible, temperamental tyke, Gattss is not above throwing tantrums when he doesn't get his way. Wearing his heart on his sleeve, it's not hard to rile the kid up. He's a shameless crybaby despite wanting to appear so grown-up, and will often hold grudges against those who have really upset him, turning against them at the... drop of a hat.
-Dishonest: Big time. Despite what a sweet facade he can put on, Gattss has a rotten attitude. He'll steal from anyone, even so-called friends, talk about them behind their backs, and, obviously, lie to save himself or just to look good. Hell, why not lie to blame someone else? Betrayal, when he does it, is no big deal. He sees nothing wrong with what he does, and thinks nothing of such bold hypocrisy.
-Neurotic: Even though he seems like an artsy-fartsy type through and through, Gattss is fascinated with math and has a compulsion to favor even numbers and symmetry, further encouraged by his lusus' odd doubled appearance and enabling nature. Incredibly meticulous with his obsession, he tries to keep all of his possessions orderly and in multiples of two, often owning a superfluous second item just to keep the pattern. This makes him a hoarder of sorts, and it's a bit of a drain on his already limited resources to always get a copy, which is why he so often resorts to stealing. Although Gattss' obsession is not full-blown OCD, as he can function well enough without his rituals, he'll very likely throw a fit and act difficult if things don't go his way. He tends to instantly dislike anything that doesn't fit to his specifications—be it someone with asymmetrical horns or, god help a troll if they try to be nice and get him a gift. Where's the second one? His neuroses, if anything, stems from his belief that the world revolves around him and everyone must bow to his ridiculous preferences. Also, greed, 'cause c'mon two of everything!!
Weapon: Babby's first balisong. He's more skilled with looking flashy when opening the butterfly knife than actually, y'know, using it. His lusus' antlers are plenty sharp enough to defend for now!!
Appearance: In an attempt to stand out, Gattss is one of the few trolls who likes to accessorize, however useless it may be. First, because his rather minuscule ram horns growing at his temples allow it, Gattss likes to wear an oversized gatsby cap (yeah I went there) that covers most of his fluffy hair, swept to the side—but with an even number of bangs, of course! His second favorite accessory is a green ribbon tied around the collar of his white button-up shirt, over which he also wears green suspenders to secure his black shorts, the truly superior garments, as they allow him to show off the sock garters he wears just like a real adult! Adults still wear those, right? Lastly, obnoxious young Gattss likes to flaunt his shiny black tap shoes around, because nothing draws attention like a sharp click with each step. No really, he'll dance for you! Although, his thieving attempts have been foiled more than once when he's forgotten to take the damn things off. As far as bases go, calm would be the way to go!
Home: Feeling most at home in crowds, Gattss lives for the hustle and bustle of New Hemisect City. There is opportunity to be had there, after all, both in pick-pocketing and making an act for yourself! But mostly scuttling about in alleyways and packed areas like some sort of street urchin. Gattss' lusus finds the city absolutely stifling and would rather live in the suburbs, but their hive is instead upstairs to what would be a shopfront if the kid would make up his mind and stick to learning a trade. The current direction seems to be Gattss' Hattss. Go ahead, groan.
Lusus: Although Gattss' lusus is some sort of freakish abomination that looks like two stags smashed together, Vaudeville is a surprisingly gentle and noble creature. That is, the smiling head "Vaude" is the dreamy and idealistic side always urging Gattss onward, while the frowning head "Ville" is more serious, there to keep him grounded and remind him that although dreaming is nice, work is necessary. Vaudeville is very fond of his charge and spoils him, having the highest hopes for Gattss and always trying to nurture an artistic side as opposed to his more conniving side. Although Vaudeville is disappointed in his ward's obsession with fame and fortune instead of *~art for art's sake~*, he would never dare voice this thought, instead letting Gattss generally do as he wishes and hoping he'll learn. Vaudeville's a pushover when it all comes down to it, a fact Gattss is certainly not ignorant of.
