Reminder: these matches are one pokemon per person, but like a Gym battle you'll roll to see who goes first before sending out pokemon. It doesn't matter what order you post those introductory/order-rolling posts. The battlefields are a plain concrete floor, no bonuses or penalties to anyone. I would like it if people finished their fights in three weeks or less, purely in the interest of keeping this tournament moving, but it's not required.

Well, this wasn't a gym leader tournament, but Lizzie still took it seriously. Living as a trainer was hard without another job and opportunities like these provided some welcome cash. She stood at her platform, waiting for her opponent to arrive and for the battle to begin.

Joey bounced in, looking around with wide eyes. He'd never been part of a tournament before! Eagerly taking his place in the trainer box, he waved gleefully at his opponent. "Hi!"

Lizzie only nodded her head in greeting to the opposing trainer. She wasn't much for words. It didn't take long for her to decide her Pokemon either. Millie was her strongest fighter and would be good in all situations thrown at her. The trainer sent the Milotic out, who landed on the battlefield in a red flash.  1000 HP

"Oooh, how pretty!" Joey said, looking at the Milotic. Then he realized something. "Oh, that's a water type, isn't it?" Joey pouted. Both his pokemon were weak to water! Hmm. Well, he'd try his Rampardos! "Go Starlily!"  1000HP

Lizzie's heart stopped for a moment when a familiar face appeared at the other side of the battlefield. Was that... The Rampardos she lost long ago, when the mysterious fog took over Zatao? What's he doing in the hands of another trainer? She clenched her teeth, frustrated to having fight Starlily out of the blue, but this was a tournament and she wasn't going to forfeit just because of a misunderstanding. At least, she thought it was a misunderstanding.
Still, she didn't issue any commands, and Millie had to act without her. The Milotic sprayed water all over herself and scraped the field with her tail so that the resulting mixture was somewhat like mud and would protect her from electrical attacks.

Lizzie suddenly realized that the battle was going on without her. Luckily Millie had acted accordingly and the other opponent didn't actually attack yet. But if there was one thing she knew about Rampardoses in general, it's that their attacks were painful and boosting their stats would only lead to more trouble.
"Millie, cover yourself with Mist." She said. The Milotic nodded as a white fog started to spread around herself.

Millie hissed as the sharp rocks sliced against her skin but it was just some minor damage. It was sad that a Pokemon she used to train with was now her opponent in this tournament but she wasn't going to go easy on him. And she proved that by firing a Hydro Pump right at his face.
