It was dark and cramped and he didn't want any more part of this nonsense. It took much time and effort and he almost thought he wouldn't make it, but there was a crack, and light, and he couldn't restrain himself from squirming and wiggling and shaking the rest of the way out. He gave the remnants of his previous prison a cursory glance, presumed himself better off outside of it, and wobbled to his feet with grim determination. Don't look back, that was the way to do it!--

But he couldn't help but feel like he was missing something, so he did look back. Where the place he had come from was shattered bits of gold and brown and black, not very far from it there was another 'prison'. But this one was still round-shaped. Had his been round-shaped too? He supposed it must have been. But if he had come from that, didn't that mean there might be another still inside the other one...?

He snorted (well, maybe more of a sneeze) and wobbled back over to the other round-thing, nudging it with his nose. Come on then, come out...

It moved! And cracked! And then there was another one like him. At least, the hooves and legs seemed to match. He nudged the other eagerly, and made a noise of excitement when the other nudged back, bouncing lightly on his hooves. Of course, coming down was a bit more difficult, and he lost his footing and toppled over entirely. But it was okay! He'd get up again soon. Maybe for now he'd just sort of wiggle around and try to help the other get all the way out by kicking helpfully at the shell. It did make nice satisfying crinkley-lines when his hooves hit...

He was excited for the other, and struggled to his feet as well, wings spreading. The feel of the movement drew his attention, and he looked back to eye the fuzzy appendages, flapping them this way and that. Interesting~ Oh, but the other's wings were a different color. Maybe they weren't exactly alike? Hmm... Flapping them once more, he tottered forward, nose held high in the air as he scented the new world around them. So big, and so much to explore...where to start first?

Hmm...maybe that growly sort of noise in the bottom of his stomach meant he should eat before taking on any big trips or adventures. Fair enough! It did feel like there might be something missing, but he wasn't one to dwell on what was gone and wouldn't answer or come back. So failing help, what were they to eat...?

Well, he supposed they wouldn't know until they tried things. And what was nearest was clumps of green stuff growing out of the ground. It didn't look too bad. He made a reassuring noise at his brother, and then chomped on a clump of grass with gusto. And then chewed. And chewed some more. Eh, it'd do...

Better full even if it wasn't awesome-tasting, right? They had to get their strength up, there was tons of exploring to do! And while they were at it, they could totally look for whatever it was his brother had been calling for. Maybe they'd find it eventually, yeah? He keep eating until he felt pretty satisfied, and then nudged his brother energetically.

He caught the other's eyes, nudged him again, and then tried to dash off. It was kind of more of a very quick wobbly series of jumps, but hey, whatever worked. So long as his brother knew 'tag, you're it, better run fast to catch meee~'

What were those noises and looks for?! He was just playing a game! And one his brother didn't seem to be very good at, from the looks of those landings. Once he realized that, for whatever reason, the other didn't seem to be having fun, he stopped in his tracks, and started making more reassuring noises. Come on then, catch up, he'd wait all nice and still... When his brother did catch up, he brushed his wings against the other's with another nudge. It was gonna be okay. They would definitely, definitely stick together!
