The start of a new day, with refreshed pride and a new home. Purpose had called his name in the shape of a broad stallion, Nemesis, and Angra couldn't even begin to express his gratitude, so he chose to hide it. It would certainly be shown in later trials, when he takes on his first flesh and blood Skinwalker. He could feel his thirst to meet and kill one rising,
Being his first time in a herd he found it hard to just sit and wait for the Alpha to come to him. He wasn't sure if it would take days, or less. He sought the approval, and wanted it as fast as possible. With the new found purpose he was convinced he'd be out on his own going after the SW's if the herd would not accept him.
With pride and purpose pushing him he began his hunt, he didn't know who the Alpha was, what she looked, only that she was a she. Not knowing anyone in the herd besides Nemesis also made the search difficult, but he calmly began walking around, taking in the sights and playing the 'curious' role to gain access to looking around, though not being very good at it, he was sure to get some odd gazes.

Angra was being watched. This, perhaps, was no surprise to the stallion. He was a newcomer, and for several years there had been no such Kalona in the herd. That was immaterial, now. Irrelevant, outdated. Red and violet wings rustled as Maeryn landed not far from Angra. "Greetings, stallion. You carry my son's scent about you... what do you know of Nemesis?" Nemesis had been recruiting Kalona to their cause-- was this one such suppliant? She watched him reflectively, pondering what use he might have in the herd. There was no way of knowing, at first glance, what one's nature might be, or what strengths and weaknesses one might have. All of these things Maeryn bore in mind as she observed Angra, assessing his posture, taking clues from his calm poise.
Interesting. One more body to meet the threat of the Skinwalkers would be useful, though there was no telling what other uses this stallion might have. She held herself with a quiet, contained pride, one garnered from years of experience and life rather than simple egotism. It had been a long time since Maeryn had indulged in such things, and she had little use for it. No, there were other, more important things to concern herself with than her own worth. What she could be proud of was the herd that had grown up out of such a small seed. This young tree had grown considerably in its time, and it seemed that it had sprouted new leaves-- although that had yet to be verified. No matter, all things in their proper time.

Angra Mainyu skimmed the open-ish area, he felt eyes on him, was this a trap. He couldn't imagine the sincere looking Kalona would be capable of putting his own kind in such a predicament. Then, directly in the middle of his thoughts came a voice, it was aged, well aged, and female. Immediately a sense of 'elder' presence washed over him. Not old, but experienced.
He turned, slowly, listening carefully to the females tone and upon sighting her he smiled slowly. Even if there was a chance she was not, he had his mind made up, this had to be the alpha. "I met him, briefly unfortunately. He brought me as a... recruit?" Given the silence Angra assumed she was sizing him up, it was bound to happen.Miss Cherie Sorry for the wait on this D:

Whatever Maeryn saw in Angra Mainyu, she did not convey it to him save in the slight smile that lurked at the corners of her mouth. "So, you seek to join us? Tell me of yourself, stranger." The smile vanished into a calm expression, and the elderly mare observed the newcomer with veiled interest. "I wish to know more of you." Like any other suppliant, come to the herd, this young stallion surely had many a story to tell, and the telling would speak louder than his words. Interesting. It seemed that the tree had indeed seen new growth, and that brought a quiet peace to the mare's heart. It had been a long, long time since there had been new blood in the Black Skull herd, and it had suffered for it.
One day, it might well be that Maeryn would weave his stories into the cloth of the herd's tales, that he would join them in their journey. Their cause was of surpassing importance, and it seemed that it had drawn another to it. Nemesis's work on the herd's behalf brought a pride to his mother's heart, and lightened the heavy weight of years that pressed down upon her. When the newcomer had told her his story, perhaps he would then tell her what he wished out of the herd, for it was a rare stallion (or mare) that wanted nothing for himself in an alliance. In fact, Maeryn doubted they existed at all.

The mare was calm, relaxed and very in control of herself. Angra Mainyu watched in careful admiration, though he was sure it came with time and many terrible tales he too wanted to be that way some day, not the broken calm he had had before. "Sorry to disappoint.." He started, his slow response told of attempting at grabbing memories. But what memories could he offer. He had no family, no siblings, no parents and no one.
"My childhood is faint, nothing of importance sticks out to me. As far as I know both my parents are gone, if I remember correctly, my Mother died giving birth to me. As for siblings, nothing." He grimaced slightly, he hadn't thought this hard about his past in eons, it would surely take its toll, but he remained collected in front of the alpha.
"It took time, but from foal to full grown stallion I became..." A pause, a deep intake of air and a breath out. A calming technique that he hoped would save him. "I became broken, not the vibrant young adult I had been. Lived by Kalona ferocity and prayed I'd die by it one day. Then it simply seemed to not matter anymore. Nemesis, a savior of sorts, found me near the brink of a calm insanity." Angra offered a small grin, his pride had returned upon speaking to the stallion and he wanted to make sure he showed that.
"My story, it is not glamorous, I don't believe it was ever gruesome, and yet I felt like my kind had vanished. Than I was presented with the opportunity to reunite with a Kalona herd. Whom, I ask, would pass a chance like that." His grin was fading, his look was one of pure excitement at the plans he knew were happening. "The Skinwalkers won't know what hit them, I'm sure."
All-in-all he had expressed everything he knew, his backstory was vague and terribly misleading. He didn't know whether to be prepared to be turned away or not. He simply stayed silent, watching the mare with the same careful admiration as before.

His tale was one that resonated with the quiet mare; a tale that she had heard many times over, told by numerous young ones over the years. It was, in fact, strongly reminiscent of her own. This, here and now, was why Maeryn and the departed Rot had chosen to form their own herd. The protection that it offered, the support that it offered, were necessary for young ones like the stallion who stood before her. Had he descended into madness, he would still have been a Kalona, but he would have been lost to her. As matters stood. "And what part do you see for yourself in the Black Skull Herd?" she asked him, standing proud and grave without a trace of the pain that the years had brought.
Maeryn's life was certainly not over, and she sought to influence the youth among them, the yearlings and foals, stallions and mares alike who now attempted to make their way in a so dangerous world. The dangers were a multitude, ranging from physical threat to the simple press of numbers around them, their kindred bred out until the blood was so thin that it held the weakness that other breeds displayed. She would not allow such a thing to occur, would not allow her kind to die out. This young stallion was one of her own, and she would, in the end, accept him into the fold, but she had not yet finished her evaluation of him.
