nyx queen of darkness Araucaria had been traveling with Caleigh for awhile now. Traveling with her was nice, it wasn't a nuisance. It was nice to have someone to talk to and walk with. Someone who was there. It'd been a long time since he'd had companionship. But today was a very interesting day. They'd been traveling--really just wandering aimlessly around the country when they met this older stallion. Araucaria didn't like the looks of him and he strayed away while Caleigh babbled to the other soquilli until she was done talking. And now she was telling him about some large valley of flowers that she wanted to see--something he'd never heard of. He tried not to sound mean or cruel or...well like he didn't believe her when he said it, "Do you hink he might have just been...kidding?" vollyballrocks91 "Maybe." Caleigh skipped along as if she hadn't a care in the world, then flipped around to face him and walk backwards at the same time. "But if you don't have something to dream of, what's the point of living?" She smiled and turned back around to continue on. "Besides, even if we can't find it, we'll probably still have some sort of great adventure along the way. And then you can't deny that it was a good thing we chased after a dream."

nyx queen of darkness Araucaria couldn't help but smile. He found he'd been doing that a lot more lately since having met Caleigh. It was oddly freeing to have someone to talk to. He felt like a turltle, just peeking out of it's shell for the first time. He hadn't realized that companionship was so nice. He'd been alone for so long. "I guess you're right. I mean...it'll be an adventure. Not that we need adventure...but I guess...it'll be fun?" vollyballrocks91 "That's the spirit!" She stopped for a moment to look around, assesing where they were. "Except I can't remember which way we were supposed to go. I really need to pay better attention sometimes..." After a few more minutes of looking back and forth between directions, she shrugged and looked back to him. "I guess we just take a shot, huh? You pick which way."

nyx queen of darkness Araucaria shook his head lightly as she laughed at her, "That way. That's where he pointed. You do need to listen to directions better...I'm not sure what you would do without me." He let out a low laugh again. "Do you think it's realy true, I mean in your heart of hearts? Or...do you just want adventure?" vollyballrocks91 Caleigh giggled and tucked in her chin sheepishly. "Sorry, I do try most of the time! I think I started to daydream part way through though..." She skipped off in the proper direction, making sure he kept up with her. "I don't really know. But I like to believe it is. Didn't I tell you, what's the point of not believing in your dreams? That would almost make life not worth it if you didn't have anything to dream about."

nyx queen of darkness "I use to think that having a good life meant that you didn't have to dream for anything--that you had it already," he grew quiet for a moment as he go lost in thought. His mind going back over memories and mistakes. "Sometimes, the things you give up are the things you want most in the world." He speeded up to stay caught up a bit, "For your sake, I hope it's real even if that stallion...didnt' look to trustworthy." vollyballrocks91 She thought about that for a moment. "It's not a bad thing if you have everything already, I'm sure those people still have very good lives. I just like to believe in something.. more. Y'know? But it's okay if it's not there, because I'll still have something to search and dream for. Remember don't be so serious all the time Arau."

She told it to him all the time, practically every day as a reminder. He was too serious. He knew that, and he knew he needed to fix it. "I'm sorry, sometimes I forgot." He tried to smile wider.
"We'll have a big adventure, and we'll find your more. And even if we don't, I know you'll be happy--it's who you are." It was true, she'd be happy for the adventure no matter what happened. Even if it was all a lie-- a complete disaster, she'd have enjoyed the journey. As much as he tried, Araucaria just hadn't figured out how to be quite that happy yet.

vollyballrocks91 Caleigh laughed. "You'd actually be surprised to find out I'm not happy all the time. I just try to put on a brighter face. Happiness is infectious, if you're around someone in a good mood they somehow inadvertantly put you into a good mood. I guess that's what I try to do, even if I'm not around others very often. The flowers definitely appreciate it though, they bloom so bright when I speak to them," she gave him a smile. "It's really only a theory, I mean you're sure not as chipper as I always am. Not that there's anything wrong with not being chipper! I can only imagine how obnoxious I get when on my chattering rampages... such as now." She sighed and gave a frustated blow at her bangs, and replaced her beaming smile with a more sheepish one.

He couldn't help but smile at her as she spoke. Her smile, her laugh was infectious. He nudged her shoulder gently, "Annoying...so very annoying you are." He chuckled gently.
"I wish I could be happier--like you, but thoughts just come in mind. Memories just come back and it's hard to remember ever feeling light and free until I look at you then it feels easier. It's like I need to look at you to be reminded that it's okay to be happy." He paused, blushing. "Does that make sense?"

"Why don't you tell me, Arau? Sometimes being able to talk about, sharing what you feel with someone can take the weight of it off you. You spend so much time letting whatever it is consume you, and it takes its toll." She looked at him with worry in her eyes. "I can help if you let me. Maybe it will get even easier."
All of this was of course theory, based off only a little bit of experience. She didn't let things get to her, it was better to forgive and forget in her eyes. Time could be spent doing other exciting things besides worrying about something she can't change. But she had spoken to the flowers before, and it did always make her feel a little lighter about everything.
She offered him a smile. "It does make sense. But don't make me worry that you can't be happy on your own if I'm not there. We will find a better solution, okay?"

Araucaria took a deep breath, "My basket mate didn't make it. My mother and father loved me so much, but they put so much of their hopes on me." He kicked at a flower as he walked. "It was too much pressure. I couldn't stand it. I wasn't very old, my mom foaled the morning I left. Two foals--Aspen and Acacia. That was the only time I saw them." He kicked angrily again. "I was foollish and stupid, and by the time I realized that I missed them and wanted to see them again. There had been a fire. Ashes...that's all.." He choked, "that's all that was left."
