Rin was still humming about on a bit of a high after her trip, anything terrible that happened prior was pushed to the back in favour of the good.
The knife jingled about in the mayo jar and she spread the contents across the meaty surface with a twirled flourish before topping it off with a slice of bread. Done and... She cut off the crust and bagged both separately. Done.
She tucked the sandwich in a brown paper bag and the crust in another bag then grabbed a sparkling blue gift bag with silvery ribbon streamers tied around a handle and an enveloped card taped to the front. She gave an excited little wiggle before heading off to the life labs.
Once there, she checked the roster of duties and soon was stalking down the mini's storage area, lowered down in hopes of not being spotted right away.

Sasha was quietly making note of something on a piece of paper she'd clipped to a clipboard, thoughtfully tapping the pen against her chin as she moved from the minipet cages. There were a pair of black earbuds in her ears; one of a few purchases she'd made while on her leave. The volume was loud enough that anyone who passed within close range of the intermediate huntress could ear the rich, mellow tones of cellos if they were listening close enough. Her hair was tied back in a short ponytail, Nona's barrette clasped securely at her temple. Everything about the huntress seemed muted, almost pale in comparison; from her clothes to her general expression, from her complexion to the way she carried herself. She did not see Rin, and she certainly did not hear Rin, as the other Life intermediate approached.

Rin attempted to stealthily slide the gift bag on top of the next cage in line for Sasha's inspection. With the name 'Sasha' written in huge letters on the envelope it was hard to argue who it was intended for even if she had not caught the motion itself out of the corner of her eye.
If she wasn't caught in the act of planting the gift, Rin attempted to go over and sit behind Sasha quite a bit away on a stool with the packed lunch bags in her lap and a stupid smile on her face. There she anxiously awaited in hopes Sasha would discover the gift.

Sasha frowned when she caught sight of the gift back, slender eyebrows slashing downward. She reached for it, slowly turning to finally catch sight of Rin. A little smile curved her lips; while it brightened her expression moderately, it was no shining bright beacon of welcome.
Reaching up with a slender hand, Sasha removed her earbuds and tucked them in her pocket before shutting off the ipod they were connected to.
"Rin." She sounded subdued. "Welcome home. A gift for me? I got you something too, but.. I haven't had time to sort things out just yet."

Rin's smile broadened as she had Sasha's attention and her feet started swinging a bit, "It is and thank you~ Welcome back yourself, really."
She looked about thoughtfully before rustling a paper bag a bit and then holding it up - Sasha's name was also written on it in the same careful penmanship as the envelope, "Is it too early for lunch? You can tell me all about it over some meat lover sandwiches~"

Sasha slowly removed her phone from her pocket and checked the time. She'd been so lost in her thoughts that she hadn't really thought to eat. Or drink. Or take a break from work, really. Keeping busy made it easier to keep track of each emotion that danced across her mind, to take note of each feeling she'd felt just days ago on the training field, to tuck them away for future scrutiny.
"I should eat," Sasha replaced the phone and moved towards Rin.

Rin popped off the stool to offer Sasha the paper bag for inspection, "Should we eat in the Life lounge? I used a lot of mayo so it could get messy."

Sasha's mouth tensed slightly before she relaxed, reaching for the paper bag. She offered Rin a smile, one that didn't quite reach her eyes, before nodding curtly.
"Lounge sounds fine."
She wasn't really hungry. She hadn't been since coming home to find Jerry a mess.
Clearing her throat, Sasha led the way to the lounge.
"I don't have a lot of time. Half an hour maybe?"
She didn't want to have to talk to Rin about what had happened with Rep. It made her whole body tense up just thinking about it. Thinking about her terrified he'd looked. Thinking about the sight of his blood staining his skin, his clothes.
Thinking about how much power she'd felt, even when faced with no control.
Thinking about how much she'd enjoyed it.
It was a dangerous thing.

A dangerous thing perhaps, but a thing Rin had no interest in discussing and likely doesn't know about to that degree yet. She smiled fondly at Sasha, "Good enough!"
She followed after Sasha into the life lounge and made herself comfortable, opening the bag she'd kept to herself which was labeled 'Jerry'. She wasn't stealing his lunch though, just used the bag to carry an extra sandwich and juice box for herself. Sasha's own bag contained; the de-crusted sandwich with mayo and about five kinds of meat, a juice box and a mint Aero.

Sasha opened the bag and deposited the contents on the table.
"You took the crusts off."
Sasha stared down at the sandwich for a long, long time. When she finally opened it, Sasha flexed her fingers. Decrusting her own sandwich had always been some sort of sacred, silly act that she'd always enjoyed. It felt strange not doing it herself. Glancing up at Rin, Sasha smiled stiffly and lifted the sandwich to her lips.
All these fake smiles and this polite conversation. It felt forced. Being alone was nicer, she'd come to learn. At least when she was alone she didn't have to fake reactions that she honestly didn't feel.
The scent of mayo and meat clogged her nostrils.
A bite, small enough to manage. Chew, chew. Another smile.
"Thanks for this. I've never had one of these," she pushed at the chocolate with her index finger.

"Yeah... you said on the beach you didn't like crust?" Rin couldn't help noticing the odd stiff way Sasha was acting. She tilted her head at her.
"Are you alright Sasha? You seem...," she couldn't think of a nice word to use so she just let herself trail off leaving the question still hanging in the air. The sentiment about the aero just didn't seem as important though Rin did force a small smile at the vague compliment.

Was she alright?
A complex question, one that could only be assigned a complex answer.
"I'm." She cleared her throat and gave Rin a long, level look. There was no outstanding expression on her face, nothing that read angry or happy or sad. Perhaps it was everything, or perhaps it was nothing. She had to admit, she'd half expected Rep to run to Rin. Even now she wasn't sure that he hadn't.
"I'm fine. I'm just."
Sasha cleared her throat and pushed the sandwich away.
"Dealing with some issues."

"I don't want to pry or anything but... um.. I'm all ears, if you want?" Rin forced a small feeble little smile, a concerned look in her eyes as her brows raised.

Sasha shifted in her seat uncomfortably.
"Have you talked to Rep lately?"
The tone of her own voice shocked her. It was deceptively smooth and composed when she was feeling anything but.

The concerned look in her eyes turned somewhat more distant, "Eh. No."
The truth was she'd been avoiding him to the best of her abilities lately, unable and unwilling to face what he'd done yet. But this was different, it wasn't her facing him - it was Sasha.
So she pitted those feelings aside, swallowed hard and offered up a quiet little, "Why?"
