A dreadful loomed over the peaceful Diamonds that one night. It had arrived silently and slowly; making the denizens unaware that their faction would face something so . . . disastrous.
The rain poured mercilessly that flooded the land and surged through the hedge maze carrying pieces of debris in its wake. Along with that, a small leafy egg floats about as it bounced between the fallen branches. No one knew where the egg has came from or who it belongs to but the few passerby who travel along higher ground watched it flow and prayed that it would be safe somehow.
The morning has soon risen early that day. Amongst the sounds of nature, soft drops of water trickled down the sated tree leaves and into the wet earth. Most of the people were asleep at the time except for an elderly Shiftry named Dmitri who stepped out of his small cottage to see about his precious fields and animals. The old man stretched his ancient bones and scratched his snowy head, as he examined his flooded fields with a slow winded sigh. "That was some nasty storm . . ." He muttered, but he couldn't stay standing at the spot all day for he has to clean up.
With a shovel at hand, he dug up the thick mud away from his crops and plants. It had covered everything but nothing seemed to be damaging as he had taken extra precaution for he had a feeling down in his bones of a storm arriving. When he reached upon the flower field, he cleared out the roses but then his shovel at his something underneath the wet earth. "Hm? What's this?" Dmitri pushed the mud out of the way, his bright yellow orbs widen in surprise as they caught the sight of a Leafeon egg stuck in the thorns of the roses. "Look what we have here . . . a poor little egg must've been washed up here." He said as he reached down to rescue it from the briar. He took off his jacket and used it as a blanket to keep it warm. The old man looked perplex on what to do with it. He wasn't sure if he could take care of the child nor knew anyone who can. But as he continued to examine the egg, a smile wrinkled its way on his tanned face as he held it tightly. "Well, I could take care of this little sprout . . . it would be nice to have some company here if you wouldn't mind a senile old man." He chuckled as he converse with his son as he made his way back to the cottage to clean the egg up and keep it warm. The farm would still be there anyways.
